  1. Just stickers. Comes with the best wheels I've seen (which I bought waiting to go on). Also has plow/camper torsion bars up front, aux switches and roof lights if I remember right. BTW, here is the ZR2 all aluminum front skid that just came today. The plastic/steel combo stock Z71 is headed for the recycle pile:
  2. The locker is standard on any and all HD. The "skid plates" is one tiny transfer case plate you can add yourself for less than $100. Better yet, add the ZR2 transfer case skid plate instead. The Ranchos are hot garbage cheapo shocks. Since dampers are part of the suspension, they use them to justify "off road suspension" in the marketing. No difference in springs or any other hardware. Hill descent is the only thing you can't add but you'll never use it anyway. If you're ordering a truck and spending $60k then the $5xx bucks for the option isn't the end of the world and the badge and fake prestige is kinda cool but overall it's VERY over hyped from a practical sense. I say that owning a Z71.

  4. I'm waiting for a long weekend or a third vehicle to borrow. I'm not confident I can get it all done without issues before I need to drive it to work the next Monday.
  5. This place is trying to make money to stay online, but they are going overboard. It's likely driving more people away than if they had less intrusive ads and more people viewing them. That said, the Brave browser works perfect for this site and requires no add-on ad blockers. Works great on mobile. I use Chrome for most everything, but when it comes to this site, Brave is the way.
  6. Was thinking about JB welding one to it since it's a steel plug.
  7. Howdy. Going to service my transfer case soon and was wondering for those that have done it if the plug that's in there is magnetic. If not, anyone track one down that is? I'm guessing it's not based on the info from parts.gm PN 11601929 Says thread diameter 17.27mm or 0.68in but not finding anything with that info. Cheers.
  8. The mains are going to be plowed. The side streets will be icy around "town". This is where auto 4wd will really shine for you in that High Country. Out in the sticks in Meyers/Christmas Valley (where I was born/raised haha) you could get into a mess with all the hills, turns and elevation changes. I ended up in a few front yards there growing up and that was in light weight 80s Toyota pickups that were near unstoppable in the snow. These heavy pigs with massive wheel bases especially on garbage OEM spec rubber aren't the best snow rigs for agility situations. Stay safe by taking things slow and calculating, have fun up there, and bring a tow rope if you have one. I live in AZ now and I still carry one. Actually used it a few weeks ago pulling a college kid out of a mess in 3ft snow Flagstaff. Cheers. PS: Chains are lame. I'd never put that crap on a vehicle. Maybe if you're out in the Alaskan wilderness or something but in Tahoe they are reserved for bay area dorks in Hondas that you'll be pulling out of the snow banks with that tow rope we talked about.

  10. Trail Boss HD is typical GM Mary Malaise. Since ~1960 GM has been great at being capable to dish up world beating vehicles but under delivering 90% of the time. Then, out of nowhere, they'll surprise everyone with their show stoppers. The 1970 A body line up (LS-6, Stage 1....etc). The 80s GNX and Syclone/Typhoons. The 1989 ZR-1. The 97 C5 and 98 F-Bodies. 2009 ZR1. The 2017 Colorado ZR2....etc etc. Most of the time though it's a 72 Chevelle SS 307. An IROC manual but with a 305 not the 350. A 454 SS Silverado with 8.5:1 and sub 300hp. A God forsaken Malibu Maxx SS. Add the 25 TB HD to the second list of garbage.
  11. 22s are 433mhz. I can't find any info about the 2024s. The dually TPMS sensors are the only ones listed at Rockauto and in stock at parts.gm and the regular ones are out of stock at parts.gm
  12. Brake lines don't look to me like it's going to be an issue. Previous looks mounted on the knuckle but it's a flex hose and looks easy enough to work around. As far as the shocks I learned the same going away from Rancho. It's really not the shocks fault, it's the gargantuan spring rate. 3,500 pound leaf sprung payloads and soft ride don't compute. When I had a rear Bilstein in for warranty, I drove around for a few weeks with no shock on one side and there was ZERO difference. I even bounded it off of speed bumps and such to try and get the back to dance but it was rigid like I had a bar welded in place of the shock. The only way you're going to feel damping on a GM HD truck is under decent payload or towing heavy (>10k lbs). Otherwise, it's covered wagon time.
  13. I only view this site with the Brave browser. I oft wonder if the low activity of this site is because the over abundance of the ads drive people off. Shame. Good help here and old school well categorized format. Silverado-Sierra is one big jumbled mess.
  14. When are you putting your stuff on? My torsion bar tool gets here Monday. I'm going to buy the GM 3 day subscription to the service manuals and try to copy down any torque specs or procedural info I find. The differential brackets seem to be the worst part. Might do those with all the control arms, hubs and knuckles off for access and less weight to support. After I get all the parts on I'm putting it on my new Alaskan 18s with likely 37x11.5 Nittos. Going to be a completely different truck.
  15. Got the whole shebang now. Need to get a torsion bar tool and look up torque specs on all the bolts. Hopefully, none of them are torque-to-yield and can be re-used.
  16. They are purpose built for 250,000+ miles in hard working fleet trucks. A GM gas HD is the Toyota Corolla or Honda Accord of the truck world.
  17. Knuckles are available to order and are shipping. My passenger one shipped and the driver is expected the week of 02/12
  18. NHTSA email came today. My gate holes have been siliconed for two years and the gate works fine. Not taking my truck in to get grease stains on the seat for this.
  19. I'd rather them send me a switch than have some rando paw apart my truck. Funny they are just replacing the switch instead of issuing a new top tailgate trim WITHOUT holes in it. They probably weather"proofed" the new switch by melting rubber or wax or something over the exposed switch leads. Water will still drain on to it, but now it won't matter so much? Dunno.
  20. Do the dipstick mod. It will make this much easier next time. Link in sig.
  21. Knuckles are ordered but still "In Process". These are hard parts to find. I asked the guy at a dealer parts counter when I was there picking up an accessory if he had any deeper look at the parts system and he mentioned availability around mid February. If my parts ship/arrive, I'll update.
  22. Trail Boss info out. Super lame. Z-71 with black painted bumpers and red tow hooks. That's it. No ZR2 lift. So they're not stock piling the knuckles for it at least. Super lame announcement from GM. Should have been ZR2 lift with Ranchos and 33s.
  23. Not today, EPA.
  24. Anyone running something other than a Rancho with it? I ditched my stock Ranchos in the trash and a single one in the front for steering would bother my OCD.
  25. After looking at the front diff cover for a different topic in this forum section, I'm wondering now if the ZR2 skid might be a requirement to all of this. I say that because my front diff to stock skid clearence is pretty slim as is. Dropping the diff down 1.5" might make it ants rear close.
