  1. Yes you can. Even my 2004 Yukon XL uses the same frequency sensors as the current trucks do.
  2. It's a pretty simple concept... you have to meet local standards on imports. For domestic production that isnt leaving the country who cares. Not hard to understand lol.
  3. Before I picked a 2017 up I had a good third of the trucks body covered in 3m. I know the impact areas on these and mine are covered. Problem solved.
  4. I dont own a carbed engine that isn't a race setup....sorry dont care about dailying old stuff like that or running it when its winter.... How this pertains to 2015 and newer HDs is kind of lost lol. Even the last 2 carb setups I have are going efi... carbs are only good for people scared of technology or required by racing sanctions to use them.
  5. Getting them right is the trash lol... but then I don't carbed junk anymore either lol. The one on my buddies Camaro is set right too... but its fitting on a quadrajet on a sub 200 hp 350 lol.
  6. Best way to adjust a choke is remove it and throw it in the garbage lol. My Holley and Quickfuel are happy without one.
  7. Like feel free to find someone to prove me wrong because I would like their help to tune my truck too!
  8. Already did one post up. It's not a popular application lol... fleets buy these trucks mostly and don't add performance parts to them. The ecm is shared with gas engine HD trucks and Chevy Cruze's.... nothing anyone cares about lol. So let's say you talk to a guy and he is like yeah I have tuned all this blah blah blah ask if he has actually done a 2011 or newer HD gas job that isnt basically stock lol. Ecms arent a one fits all with GM... they build different models for different vehicles and in this case the 2011 up HD 6 liter trucks got an oddball. The 2010 and older HDs run the e38 which tons of cars and trucks used so the support for the software to tune them was there. Since this goofy thing was released and used on stuff with a limited market it is what it is. I haven't cammed my own 2017 HD as it's being an ignorant pos even just stock. I have a ghost timing pull I can't figure out and neither can a couple "pro" tuners either.... not to mention I can make table changes and it just does whatever it did before like I did nothing at all. I think I am missing tables as well to maybe handle my complaints...I have a cam and a phaser limiter sitting here but until this gets sorted out I am not putting it in to fight with some junk that wont run right. Take efilives forum board. In 8 years the section dealing with the e78 ecm has gotten 4 pages of questions... so under 200. Since the e92s release in 2013 that section has 297 pages of questions and counting. Now what would you focus your efforts on lol.
  9. Its irrevelevant who does the tuning. They likely will tell you it's fine and base their confidence off of tuning other torque model ecms like the e92 that vette would have. Problem is the lack of actual support for the platform... he will see when he starts trying to clean up part throttle drivability. Maybe you will get lucky and not tear the blower back off and sell it lol.
  10. Have fun tuning it lol. You see nearly zero force induction equipped 2011 and newer gas HD's and the e78 ecm is the reason for that.
  11. I put my air bags on a couple weeks back... rides great... but the damn things leak. No leaks detectable on fittings or tubing but a 700 mile round trip with the trailer lost 10 lbs in both bags. I am going to redo all that plastic push lock crap with swagelok stuff lol.. my luck it's the bags themselves that leak. Should have bought timberens.
  12. It varies truck to truck. It's not a static value that goes for all trims. A more base model will have more capacity than some loaded one will.
  13. I drive mine lol. I pull my car hauler now and again. You would all call it an equipment trailer as its 22 feet long with 2 7000 lb axles and weighs around 3000 lbs empty. I towed my Yukon XL a couple hundred miles on the weekend giving me at least a 9000 lb load. With 4.56 gears, tune and exhaust the truck pulls great. Did 75 mph most of the trip lol.
  14. Gm can't figure out how to build a sliding rear window that doesn't explode in their trucks..... you really want the entire roof made of glass in one of these trucks lol. Pass!
  15. A friend of mine was a tech at a GM dealer for quite a few years until in the last 6 months or so he switched to Dodge because of a better offer and better management. None the less when he was at GM he sent me a pic of an oil pump from a 2014 5.3. The vein in the pump as well as the outer ring were both cracked..... said it was pretty common and they were doing one or two trucks a week for quite some time. Not my cup of tea lol.
  16. How about one simple mod that can be column or floor shifter mounted especially since they are partnered with Ford who does it with their versions of the transmissions. A manual mode that actually accomplishes something.
  17. No build threads for this guy haha. I get tired of people telling you what kind of piece of crap you built and how you are doing it wrong like they all seem to turn into. I make enough changes all on my own haha. Buddy of mine has a B & M 144 baby roots blower on the 350 in his 87 Firebird. It's got a 650 qwikfuel on top of it and it runs pretty good for what it is. I have him convinced to LS swap it once the 350 craters or he gets bored of it haha. The L96 in my 17 with a cam and headers will make more power than his 350 setup does hahaha. Lets not kid ourselves.. totally stock its probably more or fairly close... with a tune only it's definitely more.
  18. Once you get into an LS you will see how simple of an engine they are. The most complicated thing on this truck will be the VVT phaser but even it's not complicated. The wiring is really simple but then I work with wiring and end devices in plants all the time.. right in the middle of a major control system upgrade so it's pretty norm for me. I am rewiring a lot of my 04 Sierra project truck to move the harness because it's not going to lay over the supercharger. It's about half done... need to change the pigtails for the new injectors and lengthen the drivers side harness because those are too short. I would rather work on an LS than and old small block... no antifreeze slopping everywhere if you pull the intake, reusable gaskets, etc. I am supposed to do a 350 for a buddy and honestly I don't want too lol. It's a TBI so I might swap it to roller cam at least if the block has provisions for it. Just use a stock Vortec truck cam or the old L98 Camaro cam.. slow and stock.
  19. It's why I have more than one vehicle lol... missed the part where I haven't driven it for a month apparently. It could sit forever and not really matter lol. It will honestly be no less reliable with what I am doing than a stock truck is anyhow. This truck is too pathetic and boring to be left as is... I didn't buy it to just drive the old one all the time because it's a better unit as is.
  20. There is piles of information online if you want to just Google it. It's easier to just research LS's yourself if you are starting from ground zero like you are. I don't need to write a novel reiterating what is already out there for those that are interested.
  21. Tuning will probably be a local guy I know and then me spending hours fixing it lol. Better than from scratch I guess. Yes the numbers are at .050" lift and I dont talk in anything else. I'm going to spin it over 6000 as I already turn it to 6000 now. With this cam and long tubes at the crank it should be 460 to 470 hp and then whatever for torque. The factory intake, throttle body and injectors will hold up to more than I will make. These cylinder heads make great power numbers up at an rpm that don't matter in an HD truck... hence why this engine is a great swap into something light. I have to do something to this truck as it's pretty pathetic stock and currently my same mod 05 is still a way better and more powerful truck especially off the bottom. The cylinder heads used on the L96 are pretty useless for low end anything so that's why I chose to stay with a VVT cam in hope of not losing any off the line power and making way more mid range and higher. The 17 hasn't moved in over a month and I have zero desire to drive it until I get the work done to it now. Once this shutdown is over with I will book it somewhere for the gear swap and go from there. I started it about a week and half ago to make sure the battery wasn't dead lol. Maybe once it's all done it will be better... if not... sell it and buy something else lol.
  22. My cam is on it's way. 216/224, .585 lift on both on a 114 lsa. It's a vvt cam so advance to 8 degrees on the bottom and have 6 degrees of retard by around 5500 rpm. Should pull alright. I will be surprised if anyone else knows what that all means haha. Yes I am putting in a phaser limiter and otherwise on the engine it's speed engineering 1 7/8 primary long tubes into the stock 3.5" exhaust with my borla xr1. Of course springs (PAC 1218s), hardened push rods and I think bronze bushings for the rocker trunions. Probably add e fans while I am in there and some kind of an intake tube. I am tempted to pull the heads in favour of a set of 243 cathedrals.. way better head for torque than the rectangle ports these come with. But I will try this as is for now... might do an lsa blower down the road. It's all fun... this is my company truck.. I don't legally own it (i own the business but still) and it will have to fire up cold in minus 30 bs and whatnot... should be good times lol. Once winter comes again I am trading my 05 Sierras LQ4 (also company lol) and doing a bit of a build... wilder than this but still reasonable haha.
  23. Yeah I use my radar detector for voltage.. highest is 15.8 and lowest is 12.5. Spends most of its life overcharging at 15.8.
  24. Mine stayed pinned most of the winter approaching 16 volts. In summer it varies.
