  1. My 2016 went in today for the same issue. They replaced the vacume pump and it fixed it. I also no longer have a loud ticking noise under the hood.
  2. The stock shocks don't help one bit when it comes to dampening bumps. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  3. Yes, you're right. It's 0W-20. I misspoke. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  4. Being how the 5.3 calls for 5W-20, what would happen if you use a slightly thicker viscosity? I've heard some people say that using a thicker oil made their engine run more quiet. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  5. Yes. This is nothing but a cold weather noise. When it gets cold enough, the suspension components contract and tighten up. If it's not extremely cold, you should stop hearing the creaking noise after driving a couple miles. Same thing happened in my F150 and if you Google this, there are thousands of threads from many vehicle types that cover this same issue. Stop worrying so much guys. These forums have some of you tripping. I should know, they once had me tripping so bad, I was looking for shit to find wrong with my vehicles. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  6. Yes, it is the extreme cold. You will probably notice that after a few minutes of driving, the creaking goes away. I have a '16 Crew Cab and it does the same thing. Driving out of my neighborhood, the front suspension will creak over all of the speed bumps. Once I get to work 15 minutes later, it won't creak over the speed bumps at my work. This happens when temperatures get below freezing. I had a F150 that did the same exact thing. Once the suspension works and loosens up after a few minutes, all of the noises should go away. This is a non-issue. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  7. I don't know if this is the same issue or not but when it's cold, my front suspension will only creak for the first couple minutes (usually on the speed bumps exiting my neighborhood). After I've went over a few bumps and the suspension worked for a few minutes, the creaking goes away. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  8. Left over from a week ago? Damn. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  9. I don't have the vibration issue. Only issue I had with mine is the shocks going bad at 24k miles. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  10. Yea. It's a tradition. Chinese food on Christmas Eve and then the normal boring shit (turkey/ham) on Christmas. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  11. Dealer mechanics are terrible. I don't care what manufacturer it is. These new age dealer mechanics can't fix or diagnose a damn thing without a computer telling them what's wrong. I'd rather go pay a local old school mechanic rather than get my vehicle fixed under warranty from the dealer. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  12. If your truck has around 40k miles on it, it might benefit you to just order one and sit on it. [emoji3] Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  13. Do you know anything about the issue I spoke about last night. We were going to get Chinese food for Christmas Eve and the entire truck would shake while in reverse. It would also shake when lighty tapping the gas cruising along in 3rd gear or so. It felt like a torque converter issue. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  14. Just took a ride in my father's Tundra to go get Chinese food for Christmas Eve. The entire truck shakes when reversing and while lightly pressing the gas in 3rd gear. I don't know if it's a torque converter issue or what. It's very bad though. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  15. Yup. My father has a '17 and it's been back to the dealer twice already. Once for a leaking rear and once for hard shifting. He also told me that his truck only has 10k miles on it and it's already burning oil. He's not happy one bit with Toyota considering they bought back his '16 Tacoma because it had so many transmission issues. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  16. So, if I don't tow or haul anything, you'd recommend the Rancho in the rear and Bildsteins in the front? Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  17. What shocks do you like better? The Bildsteins the Rancho adjustable? Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  18. I've always been a Ford/Toyota guy but in my opinion, the Silverado is the best looking half ton on the road. I like them a lot. I'll probably look at the Colorado as well but the new Ranger is really peaking my interest. Especially if they put a 3.5 turbo in it. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  19. I think I'm done with half tons. I don't need a truck for towing or hauling so I'm going to look at the 2019 Ranger or 2019 Tacoma. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  20. I work with guys who have Fords and Dodges who say they have shakes/vibrations at high speeds. Maybe it's not as common but it does happen. These half ton frames are just so rigid now a days that they transfer the slightest amount of vibrations. The only one I haven't heard of have vibration issues is the Tundra which makes sense since it's frame isn't as rigid. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  21. That's just the thing. You can't buy a single full size truck at this moment without known issues. They all have their issues. Ford, GM, Dodge and Toyota. It just depends on what issue you want to deal with. Personally, I think the Silverado is the best looking half ton on the road. It's interior is also of higher quality than any of the other manufacturers. That being said, the shocks being bad are what caused my vibrations. I had two inches of play in one on the front and one on the rear. The only good shock was the one on my passenger side rear. The other front one had 1 inch of play. Don't ask me how shocks can go bad at 24k miles but they did. Either that or they were defective from the factory. The way I figured out it was the shocks was the fact that the truck actually road smooth when it was cold and for the first 5 minutes of driving. As soon as the fluid inside the shocks warmed up a little, it thinned out and they stopped doing their job. When I say they picked up every minor perfection in the road, I mean every single small bump and crack was felt. The shocks actually weren't doing anything at all on small bumps and cracks. The springs and frame would just eat up everything. I don't trust dealer mechanics so I took it to a local guy (old school mechanic). After waiting for 15 minutes, he brought me one of my rear shocks and told me to push on it. It literally had no friction for the first 2 inches. I could compress it an entire 2 inches with my pinky finger. I said... "Is it supposed to do that?"... He looked at me and just laughed. He told me since the truck was still under warranty, I could take it to the dealership and they'd replace at least 3 of them or I could just pay him $400 and he'd put some real shocks on there. 23. Is it seriously still on backorder? I thought they got all of that situated back in October. I know it was a 30 day wait list back in the middle of the summer so I would imagine it's better now considering most people aren't using their AC. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  24. Sounds like shocks aren't going to fix your shake issue. If you have the shakes then I would suspect lateral runout at one of your hubs. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
  25. From what I've read, it has been the shocks in many people's case. I found out that my driver side rear shock had 2 inches of travel before it even started working and my passenger side rear had 1 inch of travel. My mechanic told me that what was happening was that slight imperfections in the road were being eaten up by the frame rather than through the shocks which mimics a vibration. He said one imperfection at high speeds could have a lasting effect for a few seconds and then all of the small imperfections along the highway just keep stacking up on each other. I'm about to replace all 4 shocks. As I've said in previous posts, I don't think I have a vibration issue. I can just feel every small imperfection in the road. It could be a crack in the road and I'd feel it through my seat. On the other hand, I have seen people post videos of true vibration issues. They'd have a bottle of water in the center cup holders and the water would be going crazy on a smooth road. Mine doesn't do this which also makes me believe that my shocks are shot to hell. Also, small bumps slam the hell out of my front shocks to the point of my windows rattling. I know this isn't normal. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
