  1. I have for sale a brand new still in box set of Westin HDX Drop side steps which will fit the 2014-2018 Silverado Crew Cab Only. I ended up getting these as a replacement for my previous set and by the time I got these I ended up trading in the truck. I'll be sending these via UPS and I'll pay for the shipping. This sucker ways a good 80 lbs. $550 shipped
  2. It's crazy with what they are giving for these trades. Last month I traded in my 18 Silverado Crew LT Z71 with roughly 500 less miles than you and I got $38K trade in + the tax rebate was about $2600 on top of that. Just sucks though that in a way not getting too much off of the new vehicles MSRP, ends up a bit of a wash when you look at the grand picture. I got lucky when I bought my RAM because Chrysler was doing 0% for 72 months and they were doing $4500 off MSRP. Then weeks later, some dealers were only giving $500-1000 off MSRP only. While many of got really good deals on our trades, I so still feel like in the end that we do get a bit screwed once everything levels out as they will depreciate much faster once the prices get to normal. The only thing that really helps someone like you and myself is that we had some nice amount of equity to help offset that.
  3. It sucks to see the column shifter having gone away, especially with the new redesign. GM was holding tight to this for so many years. I do hate the console shifter, and agree as that is a total waste of space.
  4. I hate that "rotary dial" shifter in the Chrysler vehicles. You know how many times out of habit I have gone to turn the dial on the radio in my RAM and almost went to turn the "rotary dial" shifter by mistake. I am not a fan of that. At first I thought the button shifters were so odd on our '21 Tahoe, but I got used to them and do not mind them at all. I know some people are complaining of the new interior with these sneak peeks, but it doesn't look too bad. If I was in the market for a new truck, this would be a nice upgrade over my recently traded-in '18 Silverado. They should consider having a digital cluster for all trims where you can get a loaded LT, RST, Trail Boss, LTZ, and HC except for their Custom and WT. It sucks a lot of times where you have to get a Denali/HC to get something like a digital cluster. Hopefully they end up releasing some official ****** soon so we can get the actual interior to have a better opinion.
  5. Nice. Post some pics of that TRX, it is one nice truck and damn expensive to boot too.
  6. It will be interesting once these chip shortages sort themselves out because so many of the manufacturers have cars and trucks sitting at plant parking lots waiting for these chips. If they have an over abundance of these vehicles where supply outweighs demand, is it possible once they catch up that these vehicles could get better discounts down the road even with inflation so they can clear out this backlogged inventory? I hear that Uconnect 5 is awesome, from the videos that I have seen they have refined this quite a bit. Uconnect and that oversized screen do take quite a bit of time to get used to. I am still looking for buttons and knobs. Sometimes the simplicity of the GM vehicles can outweigh some of this crazy tech. It will be exciting to see what GM does next and too bad they didn't give us a sneak peek even though we are now further out from this interior refresh. I will say with my RAM now that I do miss the rear bumper foot step from the Silverado. Such a simple innovation that was introduced with the K2 platform, yet such an awesome option. The RAM has that rear kick step, just takes some getting used to. It drives me nuts with GM, they do this with each generation of trucks. Let's take the LT for instance. You had LT's in the GMT900 and early K2 platforms where people were getting front and rear parking sensors as standard....yet we get to the K2 refresh and then that stuff is taken away, and you only saw it on certain optioned out LT's. This day and age with competition, taking stuff away with each passing generation doesn't make sense, you should be building on it.
  7. It is why I love this forum, for forum members like you guys that do not take to offense when people are switching brands and not even bashing GM, just sharing their opinions. If the new 21 Tahoe is any indication, there is still hope that GM will come out with something special in 2023/2024 since I just read that they did confirm the delays for the new interiors in the 2022's. Who knows how long this darn chip shortage will last. It is affecting engines where now GM has to go with straight V8's, on the RAM's customers on new trucks are getting only 1 key fob with an IOU on the 2nd. It is even affecting adding Blind Spot Monitoring for their mirrors where they had to change the Trim levels up a bit. I saw this crazy map of all the Ford trucks just sitting waiting for these chips. Thank you guys! I do miss my Silverado, it was such a nice truck but this gives me a chance to try out another brand and see how they are with their offerings.
  8. LOL! I know how that works. I'll probably see the new 2022/2023 Silverado's and want to switch back down the road.
  9. I honestly have no clue what you are talking about, but for starters I never created this thread. I was responding to someone else on here with regards to my experience and making a change over to a RAM. I guess if you would have checked to see who started this thread, because for one it wasn't me, and even read my posts it would be a total different story. Then lets add I've been on these forums for several years, having owned a Colorado, Silverado, and we just bought a 21 Tahoe a few months back. Not sure what you are trying to achieve, but not once in any of my comments did I beat up GM. Thanks! We were very hesitant to make a switch after hearing so many issues with RAM and just Chrysler in general. We will see how this pans out and I could be back to GM for a truck sooner than later. It seems like there are others happy out there with them.
  10. Not by much right now. We did get $4500 off MSRP and then there was about $3K in rebates but we opted to do the 0% for 72 months so you lose out on the rebates. When I was at the Chevy dealer looking at the Trail Boss they were only discounting it about $4k and didn’t include any rebates or 0% financing. We paid a bit over $60k after the dealer discount off MSRP. I bet if we weren’t in this crazy time where car prices are through the roof this thing would of been a good $5k or so less. That’s where the same thing can be said for the trade-in values too considering what I got for my 2018 which for a 2LT it didn’t have too much in terms of features and options. Ive been reading around too that some dealers are not even giving any dealer discounts and some are paying MSRP or even more. These are some crazy times we live in.
  11. Thank you! The trade-in values were just too good to pass up. Just hope that I don't regret going to the dark side. My wife is like you are stuck with this one for several years, can't keep trading them in every 3 years. LOL!
  12. I am cross posting here from the resell thread since it is relevant with the conversation. I just traded in my 2018 Z71 Crew 2LT last night and was able to get $40K for it. Crazy to think that I bought this for $37k about 2.5 years ago. I did contemplate going with a 21 LT Trail Boss, but after some back and forth on how much the inside of the truck felt a bit too similar to my 2018, I ended up going with a 21 Laramie and decided to give RAM a shot after how much we really liked test driving a few Laramie's and one Limited. I've been a life long GM fan, my second vehicle that I had with car payments was a good old Chevy Beretta. From there I moved on to a Cavalier because my wife was driving it at the time and she needed a mini van as our family started growing, so I ended up taking the Cavalier and that thing lasted me 200,000 miles before the trans went out. I did have a few Elantra's in-between due to 80 mile a day commutes for work at the time, but then came back to GM with the 16 Colorado, before trading it in 2 years later for an 18 Silverado. We just bought a 21 Tahoe back in January and after seeing some of the nice things GM did there, I'm like damn why is their trucks so damn behind still the more I drive her Tahoe. The last few weeks I've had this struggle on getting the Trail Boss, but after driving the RAM it felt like such a different truck. I kept thinking if go with the Trail Boss, the interior is still somewhat similar to my 2018 and if I am going to spend this kind of money, may as well try something different. For $5k more than the Trail Boss, I was able to get several more options and features in the RAM and I added a 7 year 85,000 miles extended warranty on top of it as I am still a bit iffy with Chrysler and some of the issues they have had in the past. I know several family and friends that have had RAMs the last few years and so far they haven't had too many issues. Hell, I took my 18 Silverado for an oil change last week and they already had to change the oil pan lines due to some leakage. None of these vehicles are perfect and they will surface issues which really sucks considering what we pay for them. I will say that while the large ass screen is beautiful, that damn thing can be overwhelming to use and granted this is only day 2 with the truck. It is crazy to think how even tech heavy our trucks are getting.

  14. In the past if the dealer was less than CarMax on a trade, I've shown them the appraisal to even get them to match the offer. The dealer of course always makes out in the end, regardless how much we think we've taken them for.
  15. Totally agreed on that. It is good for competition, look at what Ford has done with their Platinum trim and the dash/interior. While I am not a fan of their trucks, the more innovation the better to push these car manufacturers to keep upgrading their trucks.
  16. GM has done an awesome job with their camera systems. I absolutely love the HD surround camera and what they have done. Everytime I drive the Tahoe, I am amazed with it and wish I had the same in my truck. LOL! I do also like the old school climate control knobs, but it appears surely but slowly we could be going away from that as each car manufacturer tries to one up the other. The Laramie and Limited we drove, I believe had the split screen which was quite neat that you can have the radio on the top of the screen and navigation on the bottom. That is a very good offer. Did you sell it to CarMax or did you go to the dealer with their offer to get that trade-in? I only have 32,250 miles on my truck, so if what the other offers were in the $38-$39k higher range than probably weren't off. It does suck trying to find that right truck and sometimes brand loyalty does blind us, especially that is what happens to me. My wife did like many of the features with the RAM and is trying to persuade me in that direction even though we are a GM family.
  17. I didn't even know CarMax was doing that now. What did they quote you on the '18 and how many miles did you have on it and which trim model was yours? When we traded in my wife's '18 Traverse in January, we also had gone to CarMax and their offer was pretty good when compared to some of the Chevy dealers we had hit up. I think value wise I'll be happy for sure, it's trying to find another truck.
  18. I'm like most of you with my 2018 2LT Z71 Crew. I like the truck, but there are some missing features (currently have cloth seats and want leather, the truck doesn't have no front or rear parking sensors, lacks any real cold/heat vents in the rear, etc.) that have me contemplating jumping on to either an '21 LT Trail Boss or '21 Laramie/Limited. I really do like some of the other additional safety features of the new trucks. I've checked VROOM, KBB, and TrueCar on what my 2018 is worth, they range from $35K-$39K, with TrueCar being the highest. I may even run to CarFax on Monday to see where they are at with their appraisal since their pricing is sometimes about $1-1.5K lower than what a dealer may give on trade. I only owe about $19K left on the truck, so it would be a nice sizeable down payment for a newer truck with some of the bells and whistles that I want. We test drove the LT Trail Boss a few months back and it was nice, but I'm put off by the interior as it feels like a slight upgrade from what I have now. I kept waiting to see what the new '22 refresh was going to bring, but that is now delayed. We bought my wife a '21 Tahoe back in January, GM really did some nice things with the Tahoe which I was hoping to see in their trucks. Today we went and test drove a few Laramie's and Limited's, they really were nice but damn does that big ass screen seem like it can be a world of confusion. I've been a GM loyalist for almost my entire life (give or take a few Hyundai's that I drove when I had a 80 mile a day commute), but tempted to possibly go with RAM for my next truck till GM get their stuff figured out.
  19. We've had our 21 Tahoe for 2 months now and crazy that you mention the short pigtail wiring under the driver's seat. 2 weeks ago, we had the same issue where it was causing issues bringing up the Service Safety Restraint System. Which I guess has to do with the airbags. We took it in the same day and they fixed it for us, but otherwise like you, this has been quite an impressive upgrade for this model year. Now I can't wait to see what they do with the 22 Silverado's as I'm itching to get rid of my '18 with the new interior.
  20. Agreed, the incentives are fairly sparse with any new SUVs. I've seen 2-3 dealers when I checked Cars.com and the Chevy new car locator give roughly $4-6K off, but that is on the low end. I know that GM right now is only doing that $750 off current GM buyers so I might be able to also squeeze that in. Yeah, we are pretty happy with the wheels on the truck. I can even see if they would be willing to even take another $500-1000 off, but I don't think there is much wiggle room with these new Tahoes and Suburbans since they are just flying off of the lots. I spoke with another dealer where he was telling me that as soon as these come in, they are gone within a weeks time.
  21. My wife and I went to a few dealers today to drive the LT and Z71. Before going to the first dealer they had told me in the morning that they had the Z71 in stock. When we got there we find out that the stupid manager was driving it as a demo, and had it at his house and had not come in yet for his shift. Had me pretty irritated as we drove 25 miles to check it out. My wife is not sold on the Z71 and prefers the LT. We went to another dealer which has the LT w/Signature Package, 22" wheels, and the entire truck emblems are blacked out. MSRP is roughly $66k, after their discounts/incentives its around $62K. Does that seem like a pretty good price and is there even room to try and negotiate at all?
  22. Those look great, I am still trying to find someone in my area that does a good job and is reasonably priced. I had some quotes in the $1900-2100 range. I also have the jump seat which seems to be a pain in the ass.
  23. Now that the Tahoe's have been out for roughly 5-6 months, some of these issues that I have read around here and other sites do you guys think they have fixed with later production models of the vehicles? I had created a Tahoe or Sequoia thread last week, just discussing the pros and cons of both. We are going to be trading in our first year redesign 2018 Traverse and more leaning towards the Tahoe. I don't think we can really wait till the 2022's which may not come till July-August. Does GM usually fix rampant issues that come up at the beginning of production on a vehicle year, with later produced vehicles?
  24. I have always been against purchasing first year vehicles, that was the issue with the 2018 Traverse we bought. We were in a tight jam at the time because my wife's Grand Caravan started having some transmission issues. There has been several first year production issues we have encountered, I know where you are coming from. It's one reason why we would consider the extended warranty this time to cover any bases with a first year production vehicle. I've looked at a few 2020 Suburbans online that are left within 100 miles and most of them there's one thing or another I don't like. I'm even considering driving from Illinois to Buick/Chevy Laura in St. Louis as I have heard for years on these forums that they offer the best prices. I even see 21 Suburbans on their site in the $63K range with everything that we want feature wise, but the colors are meh. I'm going to keep an eye on their Tahoe inventory to see what they do for prices.
  25. That sounds like a real mess over there with those cars, sucks about all of those electrical issues to have the lights keep coming up. My brother has had a 2017 Tahoe Premier and his has been pretty good so far surprisingly. I've heard so many Toyota owners always praise the reliability. After the last two vehicles my wife has had, she just wants something that will last several years. That is correct, I've read that the 2022/2023 Sequoia will be getting a complete redesign but we can't wait that long for the redesign. I think that you have a good plan there to lease the Tahoe for 3 years and take a wait/see approach on the Sequoia redesign. The Sequoia gets good review for reliability, but then gets slammed for the age of the truck and how they haven't done any big updates at all. It's probably one of the reasons why you don't see many Sequoias on the road but more Tahoe's, Expedition's, and Suburban's. I will say the new Tahoe does look very nice and rides like a dream, and the updated interior is fantastic.
