  1. After a week of radio silence I got a text from the dealer. Said they went back and forth with GM and GM is sending an engineer to the dealer to troubleshoot the vibration. My text back said "I bet its the driveshaft". More hurry up and wait.
  2. So they went from "they don't have a Pico available" to "they don't have one at all"? Makes you wonder when they get one if they even know how to use it. Guessing they got lucky replacing the items on the "other" truck. As far as I know 2500's have always been in the Vibration zone along with 1500's. Good luck!
  3. Got a text from the service manager today. Said they replaced the ring and pinion and there is still a vibration. He said they sent more data to GM to see what the next step is. Its sad that dealers can no longer troubleshoot problems themselves and that they have to get approval from GM for warranty work. I guess GM's process is done via a flowchart. My worry is where this will wind up at the end of the chart. This is why I always say that people who drive desks for a living will never understand real world problems or how to repair them. Lets see what the Professors at GM come back with. Hopefully its a new driveshaft to go along with my new ring and pinion, and new set of tires.
  4. OK, I wasn't sure and if you had the 8 speed that was a different problem than this one.
  5. Barak is yours a 6 speed or 8 speed transmission?
  6. Very happy to report I received a call from the service manager today, they really did send the data to GM and GM told them to go ahead and replace the Ring and Pinion in the rear end. He said they should order and have the parts in and installed by early next week. This is great news and means they are still actively chasing the trouble. Way to go! my Chevy Dealer for keeping the promise of correcting this issue. I really hope this corrects it!
  7. I guarantee you paid double for your truck what I paid for mine and I still wont accept the "GM SPECS" BS. If they cant correct a known and faulty product, they need to buy it back or replace it with one that is "NEW CONDITION" meaning its a fully working product with NO issues. The people who just "Deal with it" not only empower GM to not stand behind the company made issues, its also lining the pockets of every corporate monkey in the company. My 2 cents (because GM got the rest)
  8. Dealer had my truck all weekend and I get a text at 5:45 today saying "Sent some data to GM they should get back to us by Wednesday on the next step we don't see any bent axle shafts" Which was interesting because it took them 4 days to tell me the axle was not bent and they just stopped diagnosing the problem. I have the feeling they may have gave up and are either trying to push it into a lemon law case or they are going to try to play the "its within GM specs" like I have read other truck owners write on forums. Which I guarantee its not within specs with the amount it vibrates. Pretty crappy specs if that is the case. I know everyone says all manufacturers have product issues but I've never seen Toyota or Lexus service just give up like GM has. Will wait and see what the message is on Wednesday. Lets see if GM will get the poop emoji or fix the damn thing.

  10. Nick, you may have the power steering recall issue - see this post:
  11. I kind of thought Torque converter Bart, but it very well may be the drive shaft. I heard GM makes the driveshafts from a 1/2 roll of Reynolds Wrap Tin Foil. Maybe GM's troubleshooting list is to go from the cheapest thing to the most expensive. Tires, rear axle, drive shaft, trannie?
  12. Got another call from the service manager, he said they took my tires and rims and swapped them with a new truck and drove both. Mine still vibrated and the new truck was fine with my wheels and tires. I thought we were over the rims and tires after this morning but I guess its what GM made them do. He said he has the truck with his "rear end guy" (If I were him I'd totally fight against that name) and they are going to pull the rear axle out to check for anything warped. I thanked him again and told him I am still in their loaner and he said its fine and that this is under the clock and they need to work on it asap. Quite the different outlook from when I was first called back to the dealer and told its your tires, the truck is fine - come pick it up. I remember when I filed the BBB case, it said that once this is in the dealership they have 14 or 17? days to respond to the case. They are really good in helping consumers with issues like this against large corporations. I am glad the dealer is actively trying to repair the truck and its over the 10 days of finger pointing the tires as the issue. IT'S NOT THE TIRES! Will find out more going into the weekend.
  13. Totally agree.. but the wife likes the sport pinstripe. FML
  14. Got a text back from the service manager at the dealer, he said they have a good set of 4 new tires on the truck now and all are road forced at an amazing 7 lbs. He said he will wait until the morning rush hour dies down and then take it on the highway. I get a call an hour later and he says the vibration is still there. He said sure enough right at 70 mph it starts shaking and that he thinks its a bent axle. He asked if it vibrated with the original set of tires and rims and I said yes, and that's why I got the new set of 20's. This is also why I tried to tell you guys that I didn't think it was the tires causing the problem. I imagine they helped some but it sure felt like a drive train issue to me. Will see what he comes back with, hopefully they find it.
  15. Let us know how it turns out, will be interesting to hear what happens. Good luck!
  16. Tires do get flat spots that usually round out after they are driven on and heat up. I have had an issue like this on a Lexus SUV and the cause was the chrome rims were out of balance, I finally told them to put regular rims on it after 3 trips and hours of BS. I'm not saying that it does not happen but what makes the GM trucks so overly sensitive to ALL of the tires? With hundreds of complaints and more popping up each day its not a surprise that GM ran this version for only 4 years before the change in 2019. Anyone know if the 2019's are shakers? I haven't heard any yet myself.
  17. See my post on page 806 Barak, that explains pretty much what I know about the tire specs. You have every right to be disappointed with a brand new truck! I am and mine has 17K on it which I still consider new(er).
  18. Knowledge is power Barak, dealing with the service manager and holding them accountable is what I have been doing. Of course my truck is not repaired yet either, I am still on the "road force" phase myself. I do wonder when my service manager drives it tomorrow and still feels a vibration what his next course of action will be. They also know I have a pending BBB case in the works along with GM's involvement so it may not hurt to get some big guns on your side.
  19. Got a call back from the Service Manager today and he said they now have 4 good balanced Bridgestone Dueler tires but he had to leave early today and wanted to drive it before he gave it back to me. I told him that I have a loaner and to keep it and drive it tomorrow. If that didn't correct the vibration, you WILL feel it at 70 mph with in 5 - 10 miles for sure. I told him I have read posts about people placing clamps on leaf springs, having torque converters replaced, drive shafts balanced, dealer performed transfer case update, replaced ring/pinion and bearings, replace rear shocks, over tightening U bolts, replace axle flange, shimmed rear end, alignments, and more. To me it seems like I notice it more when the truck has forward motion and it can be very limited at that and still cause the vibration. This makes me believe that its a transmission issue - torque converter or something of the sort. Joe
  20. Barak, Ive learned that the specs are SO tight for the RFV, it takes a seasoned tech to get it right.
  21. My Continentals are being replaced with Bridgestones. 2 of the NEW Bridgestones were bad (or when I say bad - not able to road force to GM spec) Hope you can get it resolved HighCO06!
  22. Thanks Loco, Other than the "shake" I really like it. It did have a rough idle but a can of Sea Foam and a tank of gas took care of that. My Dealer called me back and said they needed to order 2 more tires. I asked if the new tires they sent were bad? The Service Manager said they could not get 2 of them road forced to 10 LBS and he's not putting any tires on it that wont. I told him I liked his style. To be continued tomorrow:
  23. Hello all, 1st post for me, I have been reading the 800+ page saga of the Rear Vibration issue and appreciate ALL of the time and patience everyone has spent posting on here for others to read/learn/use. I have a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Reg Cab Long Bed that has the vibration issue. Its currently on its 3rd trip to the dealer as of today. My Service Manager told me that GM is aware of the issue and that for many it is a tire issue. He said the Specs for this series of trucks is very slim for the road force variation tolerance. He said that it calls for under 15 lbs or less and only certain manufacturers of tires can fit these specs. They are replacing my 20'' tires with Bridgestones today and will do the road force on all of them. He also said that with the long bed I will notice more road inadequacies than the short beds. I asked him if he thought Air ride would help and he said he would ask around about it and then I also asked if putting Bilstein 5100's on the rear would also help. He thought it already had them on it but another mechanic clarified they use the Rancho's. I've done a LOT of research on this issue and one of GM's responses was "Suspension components and calibration will NOT provide a ‘sofa-on-wheels’ type of ride, and will NOT eliminate tire/wheel, propshaft, rear axle related inputs/disturbances; they are designed specifically to address the rough, harsh rough/harsh/stiff ride concern." I also watched some of GM's training video's for the Hunter Eng video's as its possible some of the dealerships have been doing the road force without doing the force matching: For the record I am not an expert or a certified technician, Just an idiot with a shaky truck that wants to get it repaired. One of the guys at the dealership said I could always throw 2 sandbags in the back of the truck and that may help, my response: Is that under warranty and what's the GM part number for the Sandbag? Will post when I hear back from them and have fingers crossed for a smoother truck on that first drive! Joe
