  1. My '19 High Country with the 6.2 and SU4 axle has been trouble free thus far (knocking on wood) with the exception of the leaky rear window which was finally fixed. I just cracked 17K on the odometer. If you're going to modify your truck I would make sure you keep the original parts for awhile so you can switch them back if you run into problems. After reading the horror stories in this thread you can bet GM will fight you tooth and nail if you mod the truck.
  2. I've got a High Country with 15K and change on the odometer and the SU4 front axle and have not heard a peep. I've gone under the truck and there is the slop/play where the axle goes into the diff (just like the video in the beginning of this thread) but no noise. I've been following this thread simply because I don't think that slop should be there and can't be good for the longevity of the drivetrain despite the assurances from GM.
  3. I've run a small 2 gallon shop-vac on mine with no issues. It's the only thing I've used it for.
  4. General Motors expected to provide Alaskan relocation assistance to all "Jinglers" as it would be fiscally preferable than actually fixing their trucks. ? Sorry, couldn't help myself. Figured this topic needed a little levity.
  5. The dealer can use the the VIN and look up the truck's build sheet. Every option on that truck will be listed there, including which front axle it has.
  6. I agree but it was my salesman trying to help me vs. leaving me in the hands of the service department and he knows I can find out information that he doesn't understand. I buy many vehicles from the dealership yearly and my salesman gets me further than the service department does. Copy that. Hope you get it squared away.
  7. When they replaced mine, per my paperwork, it was part 84569182. Description - Window 16.464 N On a side note...your dealer doesn't know what window? Seriously? Doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
  8. Damn. Sucks. I would definitely be insisting on an extended warranty from GM.
  9. I have a Retrax bed cover and have had zero issues with regard to the swing cases. Thanks for the tip on the latches...think I'll spray mine down today with lithium grease as a form of preventative maintenance.
  10. Not really. My old truck never had them so I've never really relied on them. Plus there is the cab mounted overhead light too if I need it. And I can always "swing" the case to the side and uncover the light if need be. The passenger side case covers my 110 outlet but, again, just swing the case over and I can easily access it.
  11. I think this is what you're asking for...let me know if you needed something different.
  12. There is a good amount of room. There is a removable tray. Underneath the tray there is a sectioned off area where it arcs up near the wheel and a much larger open space opposite of that. The one thing I would be worried about is weight. They're not crappy material or anything but I wouldn't call them heavy duty either. Not sure what the manufacturer rates them for. I emptied one out and took some pics with a tape measure.
  13. Towing gear, bungee cords, ratchet straps, tools, gloves, jumper cables, etc. Like a previous poster mentioned, easily removed if the extra room is needed. I installed mine with stainless threaded nut-serts so I can also remove the brackets also though I don't anticipate having to. GM gave me a $500 credit toward accessories for my truck due to my rear window fiasco and I bought both swing cases with it.
  14. If you haven't already, check the settings again in the infotainment system. A system update or dealer software recall could have changed them or returned them to the default settings.
  15. To replace the window the back seats are removed so they can access the electrical connections, etc. Had an interior trim panel scratched/gouged when they did mine. I had the dealer replace it. Your truck is way worse than mine though...multiple scratches, paint scratches, etc. These dealers really need to have a QC (quality control) person, preferably someone who is anal retentive, that does nothing but verifies that the repair was completed and that your vehicle is tip top before you're called to pick it up.
  16. Based on my experience with GM case managers, they won't know squat about specific repairs, vehicles, TSB's, etc. They are nothing more than a liaison between you and GM.
  17. Explain your concerns. Buy it only if the dealer throws in an extended warranty. Worth a shot. Worst they can tell you is no. Then you'll obviously have a decision to make.
  18. I don't think you're being unreasonable. You should never get your vehicle back in worse condition than you gave it to them. I had a similar experience when my window was being fixed...they gouged/scratched the interior kick panel taking the back seats in and out. Had some scratches around the back window where it was removed and found 2 screws rolling around the back seat. Thankfully my dealer made it right. Unfortunately, my truck still leaks. Just dropped it off at the dealer yesterday...again...for the fourth time.
  19. Well I think I jinxed myself. Just found water drops on the back seat again. It's not leaking bad but it is leaking from both sides. The headliner is not wet. Back to the dealer she goes. Fourth trip for the water leak...and my window has been replaced already. F me!
  20. Does the front axle still have the movement/slop where it enters the differential?
