  1. Thanks for the heads up to check the tires. Mainly though, I was wondering if the load would fit. Does a cubic yard of dirt fit in a short bed?
  2. When I had my ‘18 Silverado, I bought some Direct Fit blades from NAPA. They were crap. I returned them. Someone recommended the Trico wipers at NAPA so I tried those and was very happy with them. I think the OEM blades are probably best, but I haven’t found them for a discounted price yet. Now that I have my ‘21, I’ll try looking again. I like to have some on hand.
  3. I want to pick up a yard of dirt. I would appreciate if someone could verify a few things so I don’t go to the place and make an ass of myself (rather do it here ). A yard of dirt is 3ftx3ftx3ft, of 27 cubic feet of dirt. I have the GMC Sierra Denali crew cab, short bed. Will I be able to put a yard of dirt in there, smooth it out and cover it with my tonneau cover? Just roughly I think the bed is about 5ftx4ftx2ft (40 cubic feet) so I’m thinking it should fit with no problem. I know the wheel wells will take up some space, but I still think it will fit. Am I missing anything? As for weight, they say a yard weighs 1800lbs. My max payload is 1625. I know no one will recommend I go over weight but I’m thinking a couple hundred pounds is not too risky. I’ll just drive slow on the side roads instead of the expressway.
  4. I took it to the installer today and have good news. We gave it some thought and he was going to make some adjustments. Then I said, "my friends on gm-trucks, talk about moving tonneau covers forward to handle this." He looked at it and said that he could probably move it up a 1/4 to 1/2 inch and would try that. It pretty much worked. There's just a little lag before the tailgate drops, but it does drop. Maybe it will loosen up in time. In reading here and thinking about it, there seems to be a balance between the cover letting the tailgate operate correctly and letting water in. There will be plenty of rain this weekend, so I'll see if it leaks. Frankly, I can live with a little water intrusion over it not operating correctly. I suspect the water will just run down the tailgate and drain. It's not like the bed it's made to shed water. Plus, I don't have anything in it except my clubs and a little (stress "little") water isn't going to hurt anything. It's not a car trunk after all. We'll see if he got the balance right. It looks like there's a good chance he did. Now, just have to keep an eye on my rear slider for leaks. But that's another thread.
  5. Is this something the dealer could install? I’m concerned that if things need taken apart to get this installed, they might not be put back correctly and I’d rather deal with the dealer. Also, assuming it’s a no go at the dealer, is there any concern that this will void any part of the warranty, like the ARC? That would be too expensive to risk. I’m with you though, this thing (Denali) is a boat around the curves and sport mode doesn’t help.
  6. It is a lot of money, but I have a lot of reward points. Maybe I can use enough to make it work. I don't mind the soft cover, but the tailgate issue is something they should have disclosed. That is not proper operation and I wouldn't have bought it had I known.
  7. Thanks. When I typed in those exact words, it went right to the page I was looking for. Can't understand why I couldn't get to it through the main page at gmc accessories. Oh well. Thanks! They also had some less expensive soft covers. If I can't get staisfaction on my current cover, I will give the gmc dealer a call and make sure that the tailgate operates with any of the tonneau covers they sell.
  8. I just realized that my music listening just got easier. On my 2021 Denali, if I move the menu to the audio section (the display in the instrument cluster), you can change stations one at a time. It always frustrated me that pressing the paddle on the left only moved the station to the next preset. Using this menu and the little rolling selector switch on the right, I can roll through the stations without regard to any of my presets. I like that a lot better when I'm just looking for something different to listen to - especially with Sirius XM.
  9. Thanks. I’m going to try that. Taking it back to the place that installed it tomorrow. Over the phone it sounded more like a rig job. Said he’d raise it up a bit but that then I would risk leakage. I’m going to let him know that I it’s either done and functioning properly or I’m returning it. I already have my eye on the Vanish that schmitzna mentioned. We’ll see how it goes.
  10. Do you have a part number for that cover? I’ve tried searching on their site and I can’t find pricing on it. I can find the covers, but only in a general ad description. Can’t find the detail.
  11. I guess I made a mistake with buying my tonneau cover. I had a LoMax on my 2018, but decided to save a few bucks this time around and I got the TruXedo TruXport. As the title says, it won’t let my tailgate go down. I hit the button or the button on my remote and the tailgate unlatches but I have to pull it beyond the cover for it to open. While probably not a big deal, it offends my senses that something would be sold that worked (doesn’t work) like this. Is this just the way it is for this cover? Is there anything I can do to fix this? Is there any cover that doesn’t do this? I hope I’m not going to have to buy a new cover, but unless I get some information from you guys that I can use to help, I’m going to see what I can do to return this. Unfortunate because, for the price, it did all I needed it to do. Help and advice appreciated..
  12. Thanks. I am having trouble identifying it but it does seem to be coming from outside the passenger cabin. I was going to pop the hood tomorrow and see what I can see. I’ll look at the trans area.
  13. I’ll check that in the morning. Doesn’t seem to have anything to do with temperature though. It was 73 here today and a few days ago it was 40. Squeaked in both cases.
  14. My quest for a quieter truck has hit a snag. My truck has less than 200 miles on it and it’s squeaking like crazy. Sounds like a chirping bird. Much worse on bumpy roads, which we have plenty of in Michigan, but still can be heard on smoother roads. Is there really anything the dealer can do about this? I hate to start a process of giving them my truck and be inconvenienced only to get it back still squeaking. The worse thing is that it seems to be in the dash area. As much as I’d like to get ride of the squeaking, I don’t know if I’m ready to have them do anything close to disassembling the dash. Ugh! I know this sounds silly, but getting the Denali had a LOT, to do with getting a quieter ride. My 2018 didn’t have a quiet ride, but it didn’t rattle or squeak.
  15. Wow, quite the sacrifice. I don’t use my sliding window, but I thought if I had a cap I would actually use it then. Thanks for the info. I’d pay $700 not to have to deal with the leak even though I’d be upset with GM. Still better than the aggravation.
  16. Did you swap out the window before it even leaked? If so, were you not able to order it that way? Main question - how much did it cost? I’m planning on waiting until I have a leak, but there are times when you do what you gotta do and I might just pay for it myself. It’s hard to know, but a lot of this seems like a workmanship issue in both the original install and then the subsequent fix that seems often to not work.
  17. I figure that if they can’t fix it, I’ll get a lawyer and make them take it back. Of course I hope that doesn’t come to pass, but it keeps me from worrying about it. As difficult as it is, try to relax and not let it get to you. Make them give you a loaner and get on their ass that you want someone who knows what they are doing putting in the replacement. Hopefully someone who’s done this before.
  18. Good luck. Keep us posted. I keep my fingers crossed that I won’t have to deal with this, but if I do, the more knowledge the better. Sucks to hear about the potential for electrical problems for a non-slider option. I was thinking that was my fail safe option.
  19. Well, I knew about it (through this forum) and still bought a 2021. Hopefully the service will fix it. I feel that if I get burned, I’ll try for an install of a non-sliding window under warranty.
  20. Okay. Thanks. I didn’t see that in anything I read. It must be standard with the Denali? I use my phone, so I was more focused on the wireless Apple Play and Waze, than the nav function from GM. Seeing it though, I was hoping it’s not something I’d lose when OnStar expires.
  21. I don’t think I have Navigation in my truck (2021 Denali). However, as I drive around, my display (Home Screen) shows the speed for the road I’m on next to the speed I’m traveling. Also, in the navigation screen, it does indicate what road I’m on. I’m trying to figure out where this information comes from and whether or not I’m going to lose it. I’m thinking it’s a function of OnStar, which I have a trial subscription that came with the truck. If, so, I’m also thinking I will lose this function when my subscription ends given that I don’t see me paying for OnStar. Anyone know where this information is coming from?
  22. Nothing special but I’m happy to share a pic. Really like the look of this truck. First add is a tonneau cover. Probably a Lomax.
  23. Looks great. I’d like to get that done, but wondering if there are any downsides. Beyond that, I wonder how to find someone competent to do it. It seems like something that could get screwed up pretty easy. That would be the last thing I’d want with a brand new truck. Maybe I’ll just have it waxed until I decide what to do. I definitely need something to protect the finish. I was very disappointed with my last truck when a bird crapped on it and it etched the paint. I know it wasn’t on there for more than a few hours, but in the heat of the summer, I guess that was enough.
  24. I picked up my truck today. A black 2021 GMC Sierra Denali. I like it a lot! I really appreciate the help I received on this forum as I went through the process. My first post was a few months ago about whether or not GMC's were more quiet driving than Chevy's. I don't know if a Denali is any more quiet than a High Country, but I'm very happy with how quiet the Denali is. Very smooth ride which helps too and the stereo is noticeably much better than the base stereo I had in my 2018. It's just a very nice truck and I'm really pumped about it. Again, thanks for the help along the way.
  25. Thanks for the replies. I think I'll do it half a$$, which is typical for me at times. I have a shorter trip that I can take back roads to see my daughter. With that trip, I'll put about 200 miles on it and just take it easy. Give me a chance to get use to everything and it to me. Then, I'll go on my trip. Going in about an hour to pick it up. Just a little excited.
