  1. Wow - just wow. Just had the oil changed in my truck When I bought it from the dealership, it had 32,608 miles - I went ahead and had the oil changed this am with 35,075 miles on it. I had just gotten my 2 cases of Amsoil Signature Series OW-20 I also bought a Wix Filter I'm assuming the oil that the dealership had in it and probably what was subsequently ran was Mobil 1 After they changed the oil I noticed a real difference in the engine being much quieter - it was remarkable I had almost forgotten just how good Amsoil Signature Series really is. I'll continue to change it every 5,000 miles along with a tire rotation Also wanna give a huge shout out to Nick - Black02Silverado! Nick, is just a genuinely wonderful human being- i know I mentioned this in the above post. At any rate, Amsoil is definitely worth the money imo!
  2. What's the story fellas? 2 point? and are they Zerk? Or no points at all? Are they now sealed? Really would appreciate the 411 on this
  3. Gotta give a shout out to my man, Nick -Black02Silverado! I'm gonna be running Amsoil Signature Series OW-20 in this Silverado from here on out. Also gonna run it in my wife's CX-9. I also run Amsoil Dominator in my Husqvarna Power Saw (562xp mkii) If you don't run Amsoil - please consider doing so and taking advantage of having Nick on the Forum He's a certified Amsoil Dealer and just a wonderful person! He and his friends have donated their time, money and truckload's of supplies and just recently a truckload of toys for the children of the mountains that were just devastated by Hurricane Helene To do all that in this economy is just utterly remarkable! God Bless you, Nick -Paul
  4. It really will be, Phantom. It'll be years even before these mountains smell like they used to. I can't overstate this enough, is that pictures and videos do the situation absolutely no justice at all. It's a true Catastrophic- actually, they're now calling it a Geological Event. Honestly, damn a bunch of vehicles and any other possessions- I'm just glad we were able to escape with our lives ....
  5. When they get ole Blue outta the gorge, I'll take some pics - as of now, it's still under daughters Equinox we just bought her
  6. Some of yall may know I had a '21 Silverado 2500HD Custom in NorthSky Blue - I actually started the NorthSky Blue club on that HD Page At any rate, Hurricane Helene swept away and crushed ole Blue - ole Blue is gone forever. And, I loved that truck. It had the 6.6 Gasser and 6 Speed - both were perfect for me for as long as I had him - bought him brand new with 10 miles on him- gonna miss that truck. And since Helene saw fit to take our 5th Wheel as well, I've really got no use for another 2500HD. And just the other day I was able to buy ole Gus here. Gus is also a '21. A 1500 LT Z71 w/out DFM - L84 8 Speed (32k miles) named Gus... And, I'm really thinkin Gus had to be an old man's truck as he came with a Leer (Leonard) hard tonneau cover. And I've never seen a motor as clean as this one. And, I went back to red. In this case Cherry Red Tintcoat. I love it. And, I gotta say, this is the smoothest riding Silverado I've ever owned. My first was a Victory Red '03 my next was a burgundy 07' Classic (the originalGus) , then came my NorthSky Blue 2019 1500 (loved that one too!) Then we got into camping and then came ole Blue the '21 2500HD in NorthSky Blue - they were all great trucks - all of em. At any rate, here's a couple pics - just glad I've got a truck again
  7. So, just called my dealer and, specifically asked if they grease all the fittings. Told her I had a 2500 HD. She said, that if they had fittings, then they are greased at every oil change. (5,000 miles) I told her that the HD trucks do have them still. (Evidently, some newer model cars I guess dont?) At any rate, I looked at my last service bill and it stated "lube, oil & filter" then one of the boxes that were checked was a "Lubricate Chassis Components" So, evidently they have been greasing all 9 fittings. But, I like the "trust but, verify" - rule of thumb I'll just take a look see next time I'm at the dealer to see if they really are doing it.
  8. 31,000 on mine & doin great. I've always really liked the Goodyear Wranglers
  9. On the interstate it's hardly noticeable and even when your climbing it's not that bad at all - it sounds good man. And, I'm talking about towing a 13k pound 5th wheel. That truck is so strong, it's not that Toyota man... Honestly it's really very nice at 70mph on the interstate-
  10. Not sure if this helps but, I cannot recommend enough, the GM Borla Catback Exhaust. Imo, it's perfect- sounds awesome, has their million mile warranty and most importantly, absolutely no drone. I've had it for at least 25,000 miles, probably more.
  11. No doubt. Appreciate your comment on my other thread. A lot of these CAI companies make these claims of gains in Horsepower & Torque & MPG!! Easy to get caught up in the hype.
  12. Good deal. I was actually hoping to hear this. Saves actually of money Thank you, sir Btw, agree on them being bullet proof. Love the beefed up 6 speed tranny too! Smooth as silk and imo just perfect for this type of truck
  13. Pretty simple fellas. I bought her in March 2021 - straight off the train from Detroit (well, from there on the hauler to the dealership) - it came in that morning, but it takes quite a while from the dealership to do the mandatory check- at any rate, got it late that evening. Right at 31,000 miles later, I can say without a doubt, this has been the finest vehicle I've ever owned. It's made a many a long trip hauling a 13k 5th wheel and being a daily driver. And never any problems save the tailgate messing up. Never has the oil been low. I've had the dealership take note of the level when the oil was changed. Btw, I use Pennzoil Platinum with a Wix XP filter. At the beginning, I drove it 500 miles with no towing and had the oil changed. The motor really quieted down after that 1st oil change. I also added a GM Borla Exhaust. I can't recommend one enough! Absolutely no drone! But, as I was saying, she's been perfect save the tailgate issue. Imo, this is by far and away the best Heavy Duty Gas Truck ever made. I especially LOVE the power train which is really what makes this the best. That Cast Iron Block, Steel Crank, wonderful beefed up 6 speed tranny & a radiator the size of Montana - it's bullet proof I gotta be honest, I wouldn't take a 10 speed over this 6 speed. This 6 speed tranny is basically bullet proof. This is a truck that can last so very long if she's maintained and doesn't get that 4 letter word that starts with an R. My only complaint is with the seats. They could've made a more comfy seat imo.
  14. Anyone know how much horsepower and torque are gained with an S&B?
  15. I've got almost 31,000 miles on my 2021 and I have only had this happen maybe once or twice and it happened when coming to a slow stop
  16. Hey fellas, I'm leaning towards S&B but, I've read that one needs to choose the dry filter because the one with oil can mess up the computer system? Also, which brand do yall like best? S&B, AFE,K&N, Rotofab? Thanks in advance.
  17. We'll, it's been a while. Figured I'd ask what's been really liked thus far. Last I read, it was between S&B & Rotofab I've already got a GM Borla Catback so, I would like to add a CIA So far, I'm thinking S&B with the dry filter.. read somewhere that the oil/cleanable filter can mess the computer up. If that's not the case then that would be good. Btw, what are the gains in HP and torque from.S&B? Thanks fellas
  18. Fellas, which number do I need for my 2021 2500 Silverado Custom? My Custom of course, doesn't have the fancy tailgate. And, hasn't GM issued a Service Bulletin on this issue
  19. I'll take this ole bullet proof 6 speed any day. I love it. Imo, this is the very best 2500 gasser on the market by a long shot too. All things considered. Cast Iron Block, Stainless Crank, Beefed up 6 speed tranny, huge radiator, - and there's no doubt these babies will pull. And the mpg is just outstanding. I get 16-18 when not towing. And, I live in the mountains. I've rode in the Godzilla. It's speed is impressive. No doubt about it. But, the mpg is just horrendous- no doubt about that either. Nah, I don't want this big boy searching for gears all the time. Gas mileage is good enough imo. Ya know these trucks are so deceiving- just regular driving would lead one to think she's not that strong....thats until hook her up to tow.....
  20. Never had that message but, tow haul mode isn't even recommended until your hauling over 12,000 pounds if I'm not mistaken. Ya don't wanna burn up your tranny. Plus, these trucks have a radiator the size of Montana. - I've towed quite a bit and nary a hiccup, knock on wood. My mpg not towing has always been between 16-18mpg (this of course doesn't count the first 1500 miles
  21. I may try mid or premium grade while towing, but all I've ran is 87 and my mileage has been between 16-18 while not towing. This is gotta be far & away the best 2500 gasser ever built. Not just Chevy but, any. All things considered.
  22. Hi Trustin, did you ever reach out to Nick for your oil analysis?
  23. One thing I also did and, I feel that it's important and really helped, was I went by what GM recommended; no towing for the first 500 miles and, during that first 500 miles I took it really easy. It was actually hard to do but, after the that initial 50 miles, I went to the dealership and had the oil changed. And, man did that motor quiet down too. It made quiet the difference. I initially went with Shell Rotella Gas Truck but, since it was discontinued, I now use Pennzoil Platinum (made from Natural Gas) which, is owned by Shell if I'm not mistaken. And, I've never been low on oil. And, I tow quite a bit. Hope this helps someone getting a new 2500 HD.
