  1. Thanks, and yeah, you called it. I heard back from insurance and they are going forward with repairs. I've only been more happy to have a 5.3L once... and that was the day I picked this thing up as my first truck, first chevy, and first car I went out of my way to look for, and purchase. Proud of it. I just hope it doesn't do what my jeep did and exact revenge every time I cash a paycheck XD Thanks to everybody for their kind words on the whole thing. Pretty tore up about it as the other guy had his family with a little girl inside. Even though I have a girlfriend and no kids planned, it still hit me hardest to see her being pulled out afterwards. That'll stick with me for a while. Glad they came away with no injuries too. Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks, and to[mention=191210]CajunFries[/mention] it is a yellow tint wrap I got from Amazon for like 7 bucks. Tbh, kinda wanted to get rid of it last couple weeks but the output is pretty cool and useful (I'd say). Low and behold, I got in an accident with the truck today.... Pretty beat up over it, but I think she will be okay. I hope this truck isn't totalled, I want it fixed, but if it is, I'll get another one. I love it so much, I hate to have it be this way. In a dumb way of thinking I feel like I let her down today. She's never given me any sh*t, despite all the coworkers at my Toyota dealership talking trash on it. It still starts everyday and keeps me safe. 'It's a scratch, Eleanor, it can be fixed.' Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  3. Ah. Well that's the right way to do it. Now it'd just be calling different dealers and asking if you can get the update and if it's free or paid for. Might get lucky.... Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  4. At that point I'd call every dealer in a reasonable area and ask if they'd do it and for how much... mention that you have heard it's free update and if they say it's free then throw em a bone and get an oil change there or something so they get something out of it too. They'd be more inclined to do a free radio update if they get 50 bucks out of you for something else. When I had my old jeep I paid a tech 20 bucks to get my new key fob programmed cause the writer didn't want to make a ticket for it. And at the dealer I work for we do small stuff like that for people if they ask and are paying for some kind of service anyway. Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  5. Subbed as I've wanted to do this to mine for a while and in same boat (broke lol) Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  6. Hit it with some leather cleaner like 3 times in 1 week. Leave it sit there for a few to let it draw the oil and stuff out. Try to have sleeves down or something in the meantime and it'll go away. You won't have to replace it all the time. Mine gets really bad when I don't wash my upper forearms after a day in the dealership.(Lube rack guy and now apprentice) I cleaned the hell out of it and it was good for quite a while until I didn't bother to clean my truck for 3 months. 7. Ah! I totally forgot about that route! I read that in here once before and absolutely forgot. Good call [emoji106] Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  8. 6 speed or 8 speed trans? I'd like to add a deeper pan but I'd like to offroad my truck next year and having some space between my fabricated skid and pan would be nice. Post pics of how low it hangs once installed? That'd a solid upgrade [emoji108] Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  9. So I'm one of those 'enable all pages' type of guys where I have the pages on the cluster even for the crap I don't use, and while I was scrolling I noticed I hit 3000 hours on my truck, which I don't know how good that is to see or not. My truck is a 2016 with 93K on her. I know for a fact the day I picked it up it was 2303 with 76K on it so I did 1st grader math an found I spent almost 700hours in that truck in the past 17 months putting on 17K on her. Just seems like a lot, but I'm curious what everybody else has mileage and hours wise. Can't tell if this is a lot or average. Certainly not low... lol Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  10. [emoji51] Oof. I'd be heated to some extent like why not see how close in the mirrors or backup cameras but things happen, as long as my insurance wasn't taking the hit and I don't pay out of pocket at all I'd be okay with it in the end. I'd also have to give em some S**T for it at the next family gathering just for good fun too [emoji28] Sorry to see it happen in any case my man Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  11. Interested in the front end of your truck, I see you took out the lower air dam, which I was planning on doing but what is in the center tucked in with the tow hooks? Doesn't look like any skid plate I've seen before, love the way it looks as it sits Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  12. Really love the look. This is about how I wanted my truck to look a year ago or so. The bed rack and trail boss wheels are pretty tough to come by so I abandoned that idea. Solid looking truck though 10/10 [emoji108] Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  13. So in 2016 they added the z71 badge on the door as an option. I've never seen that badge on a 14 or 15 factory of this gen but 16 is the first year I've seen it. They are always found on midnight editions and have to be a z71 suspension option to even have it, IE: you can't get the Z71 badges if you have a truck without the Z71 package itself. I've seen some white and I think some silver ones that have it but they are almost always on black trucks. You can option the door badge for a cool 150$ when building your truck online 'back in the day' and select in in lew of the Z71 bed sticker. The big z71 door badge on mine is only a chevy thing as well, not on GMCs at all. Any on the fender have a different design and are only on sierras, no chevy trucks. You could always get the Z71 bedside sticker delete or get the big door badge instead otherwise Z71 optioned trucks came with a bedside sticker standard. Also the midnight editions like mine the door badge is a part of the midnight edition package, and no others as far as I'm aware. I've seen knockoff badges on ebay and Amazon before, they are 8 inches wide IIRC... In 2018 they stopped this badge as an option as the 2019 was the new(and current T1 platform) and the 2019 K2 platforms (like ours) where 'Legacy' models which were relegated to basically WT or LS trims clearing out GMs parts bin of all the old stuff before retooling th factories to make the new generation. Hope this essay of a response answered your question lol [emoji38] Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  14. Welcome to the forum and it looks great the way it sits, so there's that! I have a 16 midnight and it is stock too as I haven't decided on my mods list yet either. But anyway welcome and I hope you enjoy checking out all the build threads for some great ideas on where to go from here Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  15. I'd say it's not a big deal. Most people won't look at what it had factory unless it doesn't make sense for it to LTZ or HC with cloth seats cause somebody wanted to swap them to a new WT they bought or something. If it's an LT or something and you color matched I'm sure nobody would notice because it's a factory option anyway for that trim plus most people like the color match bumpers as had already been said above. I'd say your clear as long as there's no significant body damage Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  16. 1- I have a chevy, not a GMC..... 2- I already have an illuminated bowtie.... 3- I'm following this cause of how amazing this looks and the workman ship you've put into it so far. Keep it up man, that looks AMAZING Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  17. Would it be possible to get the email for the design? Treatstock I used before to 3d print things its like an open contracting platform for things like that. I'd love to have mine made from metal but some things just cost more than their worth Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  18. There isn't anything larger than the factory bezel. I have a s20+ and a 2016.i feel your pain Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  19. This is kinda funny to see as how I've tracked every drop, and every penny for the last 6 years and 3 vehicles I've owned. My truck is also 1-2mpg higher and I run factory 265/65/R18 but K02s and a range afm disabler in Denver. Since the range disabler has been installed I've gotten about 30miles to the tank less than before. When I bought my truck in September 2019 it got 400 miles to a tank with 4 gallons to spare. With the all terrains, range AFM tool, and heater in the winter time like now, I will just barely break 340 per tank. Unfortunately it all adds up but I'm savoring what good mileage I have now before I throw icon suspension, bed rack at 35s on it. Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  20. if i have a second after work in the shop tomorrow ill break out my tools and see if i can pop those off without breaking em and get you the part numbers. i have a 16 midnight CC that has the rubber finished black ones.
  21. I'll have to break out my master tech's fluke meter and alldata information on this lol totally didn't think of it before. I think I should get a dash cam while I'm at it *duh* Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  22. @Ravenkeeper you'd be right! Lol Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  23. @Frankielozano214 there's another thread I just subbed to where someone is trying to make a tap in for a dash cam from the overhead console. Figured I'd say something about it since both threads and topics were mentioned the same day Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  24. Subbed as I'd like to do the same thing Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
  25. That's really a good look! Wanted a leather shifter for myself and I just got a period correct denali shifter off ebay as I'm not a fan of chrome but I had no idea you could pop the switches out! This will come in handy big time because my denali shifter buttons have always felt really soft compared to my factory shifter. Great content and looks awesome! +1[emoji106] Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk
