How do you remove the sunglass tray on the dash?
nolte replied to TetonA's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Hey I realize that this is an old old post, but it's the only real relevant post that I see when I search this topic. (If there is another more comprehensive post about this then I would greatly appreciate a link!) There are numerous brackets with arms (I bought a Tackform) that can be mounted in this tray, and several people in this thread are mentioning what I think is one of them. I wanted to post this to give you guys a heads up here. These storage trays are not all the same. Some of these trays are molded completely into the dash as part of the dash (not removeable) and some of them pull out after removing the bolt and freeing up the four clips. It looks TO ME like the ones that have the bolt-hole in the upper, thinner, forward compartment closer to the windshield are the ones that can be removed. You can see an example of this above in this same thread. You can find these for sale from GM parts sellers and they all look like this. If your bolt-hole is in the large lower compartment that is further away from the windshield then you likely have the all-in-one non-removeable tray. I have not seen a tray for sale with the lower bolt-hole. I confirmed with my dealer with VIN number that mine is all one piece. My truck is a 2020 Custom Trail Boss. None of the available trays I've seen have listed Custom trim as being compatible so there's that. So maybe Custom/WT... these have the plastic dash that doesn't look as leathery. EDIT: now I've seen at least one example of what looks like at least an LT with this style dash tray that's not removeable. I really do think that the location of the bolt is the determinant here. Attached is pic of my bolt location (not removeable.) Hope this helps some of the frustrated people that may be looking for what is up with this. -
2020 Silverado TPMS sensor replacement question.
nolte replied to nolte's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
Guys I'm having trouble finding an OEM part number or manufacturer from the places I normally look. Anyone got a link or number? Thanks in advance. I know there are tons of aftermarket parts that claim to work, would prefer one just like the other three if possible. -
2020 Silverado TPMS sensor replacement question.
nolte replied to nolte's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
Thanks you guys... I'll look up a proper part number and head to the tire shop. -
Last week I rotated my tires and I have the little hand held battery operated tool that lets you 're-learn' the position of your tires after you rotate them. All the honking and double honk at the end to confirm etc.... All that went fine, as usual... but this week the TPMS system 'lost' the left rear tire. It gave me a generic box on the display to service the Tire Pressure monitoring system. When I viewed the tires, the other three showed up fine, but the left rear tire just had dashes there (like when you're using your spare.) I used the tool to try to relearn them, and all three of the other tires will make it honk, but that last tire will not. My assumption is that the sensor in that tire went out. I'm out of warranty, and local Firestone wants $250 to replace one tire sensor. My question is: Can I just buy a sensor and have a tire shop replace it, and just use my tool to 'learn it'.... or are the sensors somehow programmed into the thing where a more complicated device is needed to 'add' a new sensor to the system. I'm just looking at this basically: https://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-13598771-Original-Equipment-Monitoring/dp/B01E6EQV1W/ref=asc_df_B01E6EQV1W/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693634751452&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17521802307795449216&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9025859&hvtargid=pla-451815232515&mcid=c831a19160963bc79b14c63eecd2c167&gad_source=1&th=1 Thanks for any input or help!

Anyone know if this is part of the truck? [pics]
nolte replied to nolte's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
Thx you guys. I've crawled around under there as well and I haven't seen anything wire-ish that's not in a loom/plastic-conduit/whatever either. -
2020 Silverado Custom Trail Boss This thing was hanging loose from up under the right rear wheel well. I tugged on it gently and it came out easily whole without feeling like it was tugging or braking off. It's brittle.. it bends but it will snap if you bend it too tightly. Crawled under there and cant see where I may have come from. Wondering if the tire just flung it up in there off the road and it got caught. Anyone know what this might be? They've been burying fiberoptic cable around here and I'm wondering if that's what it is but I've never really inspected a cut chunk of fiber. Just trying to make sure it's not some goofy seal that's fallen out of the cockles of my truck haha...

Hey thanks for posting this.... I saw on the other thread where someone was saying that their replacement panel would not charge their android device but would maintain it. What is your experience here? I'm a Pixel user and definitely want to maintain charge-ability. I have 2020 Custom Trail Boss as well. I'll order the same part number that you did if yours charges as well as the original did. Thanks!

Trail boss running boards

I've got the 4" OEM bars and I like them. Pretty sure they're the same ones on the trucks above.- 44 replies

I think ideally they do, but from what I remember the Sealights have a pretty thick rubber gasket/washer/whatever that makes them a bit more difficult to turn in the socket, and it wouldn't surprise me if this extra resistance more or less makes it impossible to feel when they pop into place. At any rate you're going to want to turn them as far as they will go, and when you inspect the unlit bulb seated in the headlamp assembly from the front the LEDs that create the light will need to be situated on the left and right sides of the bulb and NOT the top and bottom. If they're kinda diagonal then you haven't turned it enough.

Custom Trail Boss Console Upgrade?
nolte replied to Texas_Trail_Boss's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
Yeah I did but it's kinda hard to see because of the passenger front seat. I'd prolly order another one if they were available (as well as another plastic spring retainer clip) but I have not inquired if you can order those individual parts.- 401 replies

Hey I've been searching for info on the feasibility of adding power folding mirrors to a Custom Trailboss. I would not chase this if it were subjectively prohibitively expensive for me to do it. All the search phrases and terms I can think to use are returning a mountain of info and threads on the tow mirrors which are larger and that's not what I'm looking for. It was my understanding that there was a regular sized power-folding mirror for the T1 trucks. Is there a previous discussion about this that someone can point me towards? I would greatly appreciate it. I'd assume that maybe I might need harnesses and the correct instrument/switch assembly for the armrest in addition to the mirrors.... but again I'm ignorant hence the search. It's not my intention to complain that my truck did not come with them. I'm happy with the truck I bought. I'd like it if I could add this option for what I think is a reasonable cost. I'm not interested in discussing whether I bought the 'right truck' or not. Thanks! ?

Rear mats and underseat storage on LT Trail Boss
nolte replied to wacnstac's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
The back matts have to be trimmed when you add under-seat storage because in their factory state they come all the way up in the back with that rim that goes around the back. If you flip the matts over you will see these pre-cut guides or grooves that you can take a utility knife to and easily cut them to fit. Seriously its almost impossible to mess it up if you flip them over. I think there is even a little scissors symbol on the underside where the groove is that indicates what it is for. -
What Have You Done With Your T1 Today ?????
nolte replied to Sierra Dan's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
Thanks. The box is the OEM GM Box and I just removed the lids. If/when I put a gun or something more valuable than basic tools then I'd put the lid back on because you can put a padlock on it. https://accessories.chevrolet.com/product/crew-cab-underseat-lockable-storage-organizer-in-black-84734683?vin=1GCPYCEF7LZ118312 The lights are just lights that as mentioned I got 'for free' with my bedcovers. I don't think I would pay the market price for them for what they sell for but nevertheless this is what they are, maybe you could find something similar for less money: https://www.amazon.com/Truxedo-1704998-Luggage-Lighting-Vehicles/dp/B00BKWTGHK -
What Have You Done With Your T1 Today ?????
nolte replied to Sierra Dan's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
I added a light strip on the plastic bottom/back edge of the rear seat to illuminate the storage box when the lid is off, which is how I usually use it. I guess I would have to relocate it to the inside of the lid if/when I ever decide to use the lid long-term. The battery pack/switch sits just inside the hinge of the seat and is easy to find with your hand in the dark. It's just a battery operated LED strip. Local truck store threw in 4 of these light strips when I bought my bed covers and I didn't use any of them in the bed. -

I intended to cut mine long and then shorten if too tight as well, but it wound up being like I wanted it on the first cut. I think it's the way to go because you can always shorten it if the tight fit bugs you, but if you're bugged by it wobbling around that's just not (quite) as easy. I say cut it 72.5 and go from there. -
Yes. I put them in mine (2020.)

Cup holders in trail boss????
nolte replied to disneybaker's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I think it looks pretty sweet how those front fender pieces are painted black on some colors. I wish my white one had black there. I appreciate that others don't like it... -

This is not my image, I'm at work and I just found this online.... but I downloaded it and put the arrow on it. That's the 'cupholders' that I have in my CTB. *Not to be used with cups that do not have a lid. Some spillage may occur. Open and close doors carefully. Contents of beverage may be very hot. Cape does not enable wearer to fly. -

They're not great cup holders but the divider thingys in the lower door storage are (I think) meant to serve as cup-holders. -

I've got this polymer bin that I used in my old truck that I wanted to keep using. The typical kind you can buy at Lowes or Home Depot. It's just about the right size for me and I throw a moving blanket folded up in the bottom of it in case I need it and it acts as padding for stuff. The 'feet' on the bin line up with the grooves in the bed so it slides in and out pretty straight. I put an LED strip light in it that came with my bed covers (I think they gave me four strips and I've already got bed lights.) It has a lid but I rarely use the lid in the truck. I used the 2x6 but I put it up in the higher slots and put some spacers on it to keep the bin from jumping around. I just sprayed it with cheap flat black spray pain. It doesn't move at all with the tailgate shut. I can put it in the back of the cab if I need the whole bed for something big. If I've got longer stuff that's thin I can slide that kind of thing in next to the bin and under the 2x6. I can flip the 2x6 over and slide the bin all the way over to one side. I can put the bin in front of the 2x6. All in all I can swap it up and it stays put. -
I agree it's not a effective as other more primitive and technologically inferior vehicles that I've owned in the past. It's bewildering. If I'm taking kids to school, I blast heat middle for just a couple mins and then to be honest the whole cab heats up and they don't notice when I put the windshield air back on. It sounds like I'm excusing it and I don't mean to... I think it's poorly implemented... BUT I can get around this without too much issue. It definitely is something that I had noticed, however. EDIT: "cold" here is 40F, and "really really cold" is sometimes as low as lower 20s F.... So I'd assume my little 'solution' prolly isnt much of a consolidation for some of you guys.

My observation in 2020 Silverado CTB crewcab: 1. Rear vents really only push decent air when middle vents are selected (windshield and floor vents off) 2. Rear vents take a few moments to heat up even when truck is 'warm' and front vents are already blowing warm air. Mine does blow warm air in the back, but not at first, and airflow is minimal unless middle vents are the only selected vent.

Custom Trail Boss Console Upgrade?
nolte replied to Texas_Trail_Boss's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
I got mine from gmpartsexperts as well, and the first one I got was damaged as well. It had deeper scratches in one spot on the front in the plastic that could not have been caused by the seat belt buckle in the box. The box was intact, and gmpartsexperts had not opened it. They were quick to get me another one and they opened the second one to check it because several people had complained about scratches on them. Second one was good. The two trim pieces that cover each side of the pivot area have three clips on each side and then also the edges of those pieces of trim have little tabs that lock into the plastic that you don't remove underneath. Those two pieces are the ones that are a pain to get off. The metal clips are too aggressive IMO. In my case those metal clips separated from the plastic tabs they were mounted on. I was able to remove them from the female slots they mated to without destroying them and I was able to reuse all of mine. The lower trim piece that you mention here where the lower seat belt strap attaches on the drivers side was no problem at all for me to remove. It came off like you'd think they all should. The clip(s) on that one were different. I don't even remember how many there where maybe one maybe two.... and I think they were about the same size, but they had a polished finish on them whereas the others up top were flat grey and had quite a bit more friction associated with them. I removed the bolt that retains the lower seat belt strap before I removed that piece, and replaced that trim before I replaced that seat belt bolt, I did not confirm that you NEED to do it in this order, thought. I didn't check to see if that bolt also retains the trim as well.- 401 replies
