Required? No. Will it wear out the ball joint faster? yes. In my case i replaced it because i preferred to not have the stamped steel UCA design when i take it off-road. plus these are bolt in ball joints which makes the replacement of them much easier when they do wear out. but in the end you can put 5100s without replacing a UCA to answer the question.
It’s a firm ride but not jarring. Rides a bit firmer than my dads ram 1500 with the carli fox kit but it feels less rough than the stock rancho garbage. definitely rides a little softer than my 2006 Tundra with the TRD suspension did as well (all being compared on i-35 in austin)
Trim plates went well, looks like if i hadn’t done them i’d be trimming the liner. here’s a picture of the angles on the drivers side Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ill be taking more pictures tomorrow but on the new suspension with 6112’s and kryptonite UCA’s up front and 5160s out back. (I know a lot of people don’t like all black wheels but it’s what i wanted) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was planning on that originally but these tires run large for a 275/70r18 at 33.45x11.23. Plus i do plan on taking it offroad so just would rather remove any risk of rubbing at the same time as getting the rest done.
