  1. Did you add any extra foam or any other sound isolation when installing the Pioneer speakers? I've seen some OE direct replacement speakers (forget what the brand is) that look like they have some extra foam around the perimeter of the speaker cone (at least for the door speakers) to help create an acoustic seal between the speaker and door panel. I've also seen some videos of people adding it by cutting them out of a foam block.
  2. Nice find. This is a direct fit for the 6.6 gas 10L1000? If so I will probably snag one since mine is all dented up from running over something
  3. The having to move the exhaust thing is a classic GM gas engine thing. Same thing on the 6L80 and 6L90. They swapped the trans for the 10L1000 and didn’t touch the exhaust routing.
  4. You need the following parts: - 84663240 harness extension - 84670050 harness Y-cable - 84056018 7-pin/4-pin trailer hitch receptacle You unplug the connector from the bumper trailer hitch receptacle and plug it into The y-cable and insert the other end of the y-cable into the bumper trailer hitch receptacle. The third end of the y-cable plugs into the harness extension and the harness extension plugs into the trailer hitch receptacle that goes into the bed. There’s a plastic cover you remove from inside the bed and press the trailer hitch receptacle into.
  5. Thank you both. I was able to find what I need.
  6. Not looking to do any mods, but I have some damage on one of the front fenders and the hood that I will likely need to replace. I understand that things like grille, grille surround, headlights, etc. are new for 2024. However, what about the hood, front fenders, bumper, etc.? I suspect that the interior on the Custom is largely the same, save for different seat covers on the 2024 vs. the 2020-2023. Anyone have any insight into this? I tried doing some searching around Car-Part and OEM parts websites, but I couldn't quite get a clear-cut and satisfactory answer. I'll eventually get in touch with the parts department at the local dealer, but I wanted to check to see if anyone else had already gone down this road so that I could be prepared for the discussion.
  7. Saw that as well driving down 75/23 yesterday headed to do some camping. Great to see the investment in Flint. A saw a line of new trucks going into the old horse racing grounds off of I-69 on Morrish. I assume they are using that now to store trucks.
  8. I live less than 10 miles from the plant and it was pretty disappointing. Some decent rain and wind but no hail and not as much lightning and thunder as we were expecting
  9. Looks like a ‘22 Custom diesel
  10. Drove by the GM assembly plant and snapped some pictures this morning. Both lots at the Flint airport are chocked full of '24 HD trucks, in addition to the entire western storage lot on the main campus.
  11. I agree with Doodle that I wouldn't worry much about the internet amplification of the 7.3, but I also think you should do what makes you happy. Congrats on the new truck!
  12. Wow that is an incredible setup
  13. That is a nice lookin truck
  14. It’s a trademark, not copyright. And no, you wouldn’t just be able to register a trademark for beast, black beauty, etc. because yours is a non-commercial use. Same thing with the screen name, not trademark eligible because it’s a non-commercial use. Trademarks provide protection against words and phrases that have become associated with a commercial provider of a good or service. The Ike gauntlet trademark is registered for the purpose of providing online information and reviews relating to motor vehicles. This guy used it in his videos for that exact purpose to generate revenue from his video series. So he was legally in the wrong here. Now whether the court of public opinion feels the same was is a different story…. https://trademarks.justia.com/869/59/ike-86959673.html
  15. Great to see the investment in Flint
  16. here’s a dyno from 5star for both the stock 6.2l and the stock 7.3l
  17. Being a member of multiple different brand enthusiast forums, I would say they are about the same for frequency of reported issues. Both have fallen subject to internet amplification in terms of the issues on the gassers being overblown. And each forum has it's own brand-specific echo chamber. Now that 10 speeds are behind both, they are so close that there are more important factors than the engine when deciding which truck to buy.
  18. Would have liked to see it compared with a 3.73 geared Ford instead of the 3.55 gears for a more apples to apples comparison but still good to see
  19. Haha I’m on a well so don’t have to worry too much about that
  20. I live a couple exits down from the flint assembly plant. You can guess what I see
  21. Probably not yet since the midnight package is currently on constraint
  22. Who cares? Where does it say what is in the app has any legal authority? Plus, they never explained anything about the app. What did they input into the app? Did they have to input cargo load, passengers, tongue weight, etc.? No details at all…just some staged sensationalism.
  23. I called my local dealership this morning and it turns out that they had 2 available allocations for HD trucks. I went ahead and put in an order for a 2024 Silverado HD 3500 with the 6.6L gas. I ordered an LT with the midnight edition package so I could get the new front end without having to step up to an LTZ. The dealer indicated that there might a start restriction on special edition packages such as the midnight edition package, but I'm not in a big rush since I currently have a truck and don't have a commute. The trade-in value for my current truck will play a big role in deciding whether to go through with it when the time comes.
  24. You have to go to the 2024 Silverado bd page and then click on the build and price button https://www.chevrolet.com/trucks/silverado/2500hd-3500hd
  25. Played around with it and it looks like it is confirmed that the LT trim with the midnight/Z71 appearance package upgrades you to the LTZ refreshed front end: That is awesome
