  1. Malleable. Perfect word for all the body parts on these new trucks! All so they can fall apart at the slightest touch for 5 star crash ratings.
  2. Nope. Just regular black gm shocks. The passenger side shock only dampened about half its travel then nothing. No resistance and no sign of leakage. We think it wasn't filled with fluid properly and it's probably a widespread issue but people don't usually think about changing out virtually new shocks on a new truck.
  3. My issue was very similar. Intermittent vibes and new rear shocks cured my problem. One rear shock was completely defective right from new.
  4. You can't just turn it on. The computers decide when it wants to turn it on. Sorry. You can always just use manual mode and down shift.
  5. There must be tow/haul grade braking and regular grade braking then because mine kicks in outside of tow haul mode also.
  6. Check out this thread. 6 and 8 speeds are different also I believe.
  7. HDC is different and separate from grade braking. HDC uses vehicle brakes and grade braking uses the transmission.
  8. Grade braking is active by default. You hold in the tow haul button for like 5 seconds to toggle it on/off. It is then reset to on with every key cycle. The owners manual is great for things like this you know....
  9. If the truck had been sitting for days before your test drive, it could just be tire flat spotting. Take the truck for an extended test drive and if still shaking after tire balance. Run, don't walk from the truck.
  10. I had a hypertech tuner 10 years ago and had issues with it. They were a horrible company then and still are it seems. These new rolling computers we call trucks are getting near impossible to do any aftermarket mods to, but something like setting the speedo for tires should be a no brainer for the dealership and they should take full responsibility for the whole mess.
  11. A week after I purchased my 2016 truck new, the overhead dome lights would not turn off no matter what I did. I checked all the doors and the keys were out and doors locked for several hours and the lights stayed on. I finally pulled the negative battery cable to turn them off. Hasn't happened since but these computerized vehicles do seem haunted sometimes.
  12. The T1 is a completely different truck from the wheels up including suspension geometry, frame, etc. So the change you want to identify is the Entire Truck.
  13. The vented seats should come on but as sk says, no lights will be on and since the seats are only vented ( not actually cooled as previous model years were) it only circulates the hot cabin air so it will be hard to tell if they are working in remote start.
  14. Vacuum pump on the way out? I know there is a growing problem with them.
  15. Probably a feature of the lane keep assist option. It senses that no small inputs are being made for a period of time. I don't think my 2016 does this.
  16. I think recalls are only issued when there is a dangerous or unsafe component or condition.
  17. Fold the mirrors with the fob by holding the lock button down for about 5 seconds. There maybe a setting to turn this feature on/off in the radio screen. Also in the radio is a setting for rear park assist with or without towing.
  18. I bet a set of new rear shocks would have fixed your problem without even putting the lift on. Set of basic Bilstein 4600s has my ride smoothed out. When I took the rears off it was very apparent which shock was bad. No damping at all for several inches of travel on it and no sign of leakage. Those stock shocks are JUNK
  19. For those with the "Off-road" screen on the Diver Information Center (DIC) that shows the 4WD mode and tilt/incline...It will also show which wheels have lost traction by changing from green to orange and flashing. Kinda neat
  20. Since hearing that GM is ramping up the dreaded Active Fuel Mgmt. to drop to ONE cylinder on the T1 trucks, I've been curious what the aftermarket exhaust will end up sounding like. My grandpa had an old 1 cylinder john deere tractor...not a very sexy sound.
  21. Please consider replacing the rear shocks with good aftermarket ones before you give up on your truck. There is a known issue with them. I cured my bad ride with Bilsteins and am so glad I did.
  22. If you don't have or know how to use a digital multi-meter to check for continuity on the wiring, find a good mechanic that can help you out.
  23. Check for bad wires on the throttle position sensor harness. There was an issue for a while where the wires would separate inside the insulation.
  24. So...Back to the issue at hand. I've been battling the 70+ mph shakes and so far I have: Replaced all 4 tires with Michelin LTX AT2 after many road force balances of stock tires. $900 Replaced rear axle u-bolts with heavier ones and torqued to spec. $75 Replaced left rear axle shaft due to excessive lateral runout. $300 Replaced all four shocks with bilstein 4600. $375 So I've spent nearly $1700 to fix the horrible ride on this brand new truck now with only 12,000 miles on it. While all these items did help the shaking somewhat, the last item on the list by far helped the most. Not sure if it was the front or rear shocks that were bad but suspect the rears. The ride is MUCH improved now and almost as good as my last truck ('08 Sierra).
  25. Toyota Tundra also has a better screen layout with album art and also a combo screen that shows song/ artist, navigation, and weather at the same time. Nothing like that on Chevy MyLink. Even my 2008 Sierra at least had a split screen for radio and nav. GM going backwards yet again.
