  1. The gain does matter when you squeeze the manual controller. That's how you set the gain to the correct value. You drive at 25 mph on level pavement and squeeze the manual controller. The gain should be set to a level where the trailer brakes are just shy of locking up. The amount of gain needed will vary depending on how much weight is loaded in the trailer. If your gain is not at 10.0 then set it higher and try again. If you get to 10.0 and the wheels still do not lock up, then the brakes may need adjusted.
  2. Great! I may pick those up too. I'm already eyeballing a 3-ton off road floor jack. For if I have to change a tire on the truck or the trailer while on the road. I hate crawling on the ground, lol. Well, I'm also going to need it for my winch install. The 1/2" thick steel mount plates and winch will weight in excess of 200#.
  3. I'm not the person which stated the 10 speed has to hunt for gears. It sounds to me like you feel the need to justify your purchase to everyone else since you want to discount other people's opinions which contradict your own. I couldn't care less what you buy. If you want the 10 speed then go for it! I'm not here to dissuade anyone. I just know what I like and I don't care if you like it or not. Good luck in your endeavor.
  4. If I don't like it then I am stuck with it for a least a year, unless I want my insurance rates to go up. I get one windshield replacement per year with no penalty. Since nobody else is really complaining about the stock windshield, I'll try another one before I write if off.
  5. Has anyone seen these yet? I received an email about them today. I haven't looked into all of the specs yet, but I like that they offer some off road stuff, like a factory installed winch. I already have a reservation for a Hummer SUV that has a projected build date of 2025 right now. But I'm going to look into this Sierra AEV and see if I like it more. https://www.gmc.com/future-vehicles/2024-sierra-hd-at4x Edit: Nevermind. I misunderstood what this was. I was thinking this was an electric vehicle, like the Hummer. I'll keep my 2023 ICE. I already have most of what this vehicle will offer and will likely have more by the time this vehicle hits the streets. Plus, I'll not have the 10-speed tranny, which I do not want. But this might be a good vehicle for people wanting to have more off-road capabilities on a stock vehicle. I thought it was strange that they would release a new EV out of the blue that is supposed to be available by the end of the year while I still have to wait until 2025 for a Hummer that I reserved last year...
  6. There's no difference. That's still an opinion. There may be a diminished desirability of the 23's for you, but for me the 24's have increased the desirability of the 23's. I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just saying...
  7. The crack has grown to about 7" now. It is almost exactly in the middle of the windshield running horizontally under the mirror. I'm just going to have it replaced. It doesn't cost me anything to have it replaced, so I'm going to try another OEM windshield and see how it holds up. Judging from this thread, there doesn't seem to be many people having issues, so maybe I had a bad windshield.
  8. This entire thread is an opinion. Starting with the opinion that the 2023 is no longer desirable.
  9. Coming soon. I got a good deal on it. After a lot of debate I decided not to pass it up.
  10. I prefer the 6 speed for my own reasons. It's also cheaper to repair/replace out of warranty if need be. Also, from what I have read the new 2024 models will be updated OTA (over the air) which means that if you want to have any mods which require the ECU to be reprogrammed then the programming for those mods can be reset at any time. Depending on the mods installed that reset could potentially kill your engine. If you never plan to modify your truck then it's not an issue. But I don't keep stock vehicles very long. Once I throw that Whipple supercharger on my truck the 6 speed is going to be more than enough.
  11. It seems that Whipple has cracked the ECU. https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/262716-l8t-whipple-for-2020-2022-2500hd/ https://gmauthority.com/blog/2023/03/whipple-will-soon-launch-a-gm-6-6l-l8t-v8-supercharger-kit/ "The kit includes an HP Tuners RDT flash tool to reprogram the computer, as well as a VCM scanner for data logging and tire / axle adjustment."
  12. I've owned vehicles with some windshields that are much closer to 90 degrees than our trucks. Jeep Wranglers are one example of such a vehicle, and there are many more. How deep the dashboard goes is the first sign of how much angle is on the windshield. I can remember a truck I had back in the 80's. The dash was about 8" deep, similar to a Jeep Wrangler. I never even got a crack in the windshield of that truck. Maybe it was luck, but still, that windshield was very steep. The angle on our windshields are on par with most other vehicles. If other vehicles are not getting cracked windshields due to the angle then there's no reason ours should be either. It has to be something else, such as inferior glass, or just bad luck.
  13. I chose capacity over all else. I cannot comment on the ride quality difference between the 2500 and 3500, but I am content with the ride quality of my 3500. I also have the snow plow prep package for the stiffer front springs. I purposely chose the 18" wheels instead of the 20" wheels to give more sidewall on my tires to help with the ride quality. If you intend to do any serious hauling then you will want to put bags, or some other suspension mod, on your rear axle anyway, unless you like riding on the leaf springs. In the end, both trucks can probably haul close to the same weight, if modified. But the factory sticker on your door jamb will still be the final word when it comes to law enforcement.
  14. I know this is true. But have you looked at the angle of the glass on our trucks. I was just looking at it and comparing it to others in the parking lot at work. While it's not as angled as some sports cars, it's on par with most other vehicles I have compared it to. Our windshields are not very straight up and down. They likely tried to increase the gas mileage by improving the aerodynamics and the windshield is a major part of that. I do notice that anything I do to affect the aerodynamics on my truck makes an immediate and noticeable difference to my gas mileage. Having my ATV on the bed cover reduces my mpg at highway speeds by 2-3 mpg. Adding the steel bumper on my front end reduced mpg at highway speeds by about 2 mpg. I now average about 12 mpg at 75 mph with my ATV on my bed cover. If I'm driving into a headwind on level ground it can drop below 10 mpg. Maybe I have just been unlucky with the hits I've taken in the last 3 months and 8,500 miles.
  15. Is it just my truck, or does anyone else notice that our windshields chip really easily? Every single piece of debris that I have heard hit my windshield has chipped it. Today a rock actually cracked it. I've had windshields get chipped and cracked before, but I've never noticed a windshield chip this easily. I've had some windshields that took some really hard hits and didn't chip at all. If I have to replace it then I'm going with an aftermarket windshield.
  16. So far my only use is for a battery minder for my ATV. I have a winch on my ATV and it gets used a lot, so this keeps my battery in tip top shade.
  17. Finally got some pics of my Deer Slayer 5000 with my DIamondback cover. Still have more mods on the list. Bags are probably my next mod. Then the Winch.
  18. If that module which you found on the spare tire is black and about 3" x 4" (maybe bigger or smaller, but rectangular) with a curved face then that would be a blind spot monitor. Not having it hooked up will certainly cause the system not to work.
  19. Awesome! Did you get your sensors figured out?
  20. I'm sure there's a way to add them. They pretty much just need power to a button and wires from the button to the mirrors. I think the dealer lied. I ordered my truck around the beginning of Oct, 2022 with a build date in Dec, 2022 and I have the power fold mirrors. I believe they stopped taking orders for the 2023 models in Nov, 2022. So far no issues with them.
  21. I just threw up a little in my mouth.
  22. I live in Idaho too, but I work all over the country. I ordered my truck from a dealer up by Spokane, WA (in Idaho) and got it for more than $5k under sticker price. I seen comparable used trucks going for over sticker price at that time (back in September).
  23. My truck is just now 3 months old and my bedliner has some signs of use, as well as my tailgate liner and I've only been sliding ATV ramps, plastic gas cans and plastic totes in and out of my bed. I would have to actively try to slide things in and out of the bed without ever touching the tailgate liner. I'm certain that they had the tailgate off for some reason.
  24. I like my long bed with the crew cab. Longer wheelbase = smoother ride and less front end lift when towing. I even made the truck about 10" longer with heavy duty steel bumpers and a grille guard. I spend most of my time in the countryside and don't have to worry too much about tight places. But if I find myself at a store with it I usually park in the rear of the lot to avoid issues. I've learned to adapt to the length. If I really need a smaller vehicle though, I have one. This truck isn't my only vehicle. To each his own.
  25. Ah, ok. I wasn't sure if it was changed somewhere along the line or if they just installed some the wrong way. Since the OP also has/had issues with their sensors I'm starting to think someone has messed with their wire harness and perhaps hooked it up wrong, or not at all in some cases. Maybe the previous owner had aftermarket bumpers and they put the stock bumpers back on before selling it, but messed up the wire harness connections.
