  1. They're probably gonna rub. My truck was a dealer custom with a 3" lift and it came with 305-55-R20 BFGs mounted on custom rims with +12 offset and the custom shop made modifications to the wheel wells to avoid rubbing. Then I bought new rims that were -18 offset and the same size tires and it rubbed pretty bad so I took it to a body shop and they made more wheel well modifications. I think the Chevys have a little more wheel well room than the GMCs but you're likely gonna have some rubbing.
  2. Finally the time came for new tires. Had 42,000+ on the original BFG KO2s and they weren't bald, but getting pretty well worn so I decided it was time. I will say that I was impressed with the BFG KO2s they were probably the best AT tires I've ever owned and I've owned alot of different ones. This time I decided to try a mud tire.....these are Nitto Trail Grapplers M/T: They are 305/55/R20 and I have them on Fuel Flame Blackout rims 20X10 -18 and with the new tires there were issues with rubbing the wheel wells. I anticipated this and made an appointment at a nearby body shop for immediately after the tire purchase and mounting. it was only really a few millimeters that made the difference but they not only trimmed plastic but metal as well. The mud guards were a problem and so this time they went away completely. I had bought the mud guard replacements from Sharptruck.com and I had them installed, although they also had to be modified quite a bit. I do really like the look of these new Nitto tires, however I would say that if someone wants a quiet ride they are not for you because they are noisy on the highway. I have not had them in the rain yet so we'll see how that goes.
  3. Yeah that's why I asked if they are for off-road use they're great for that. About a year or so ago I got off work one morning and was driving home in my Corolla beater car. A vehicle came up behind me with this blazing bright light on the grill very similar set-up to what you have there. He got right up on my ass and the light was so friggin bright I couldn't even tell what the vehicle was and I assumed it was some kind of emergency unit so I moved right and let it go by. Nope just some jerk in a navigator out to intimidate everyone that gets in their way. Nothing wrong with it if used as intended, but when used like this a-hole was it is a serious hazard. And yes I've seen big rigs with same bright lights on the grill and they're just as bad. We don't need that crap on the highway it's already dangerous enough. I am seeing less of the super bright lights lately and I haven't checked on it but I would guess the reason for that is people were starting to get cited by the police for running them on the highway at night. As for the amber lights well that's never been an issue at all I wasn't referring to those.
  4. Are these lights for off-road use? Sounds like they are blinding bright and you're aiming them up off the road so wouldn't that put them directly in the eyes of oncoming drivers? I happen to be a truck driver and I'm on the road all night every night of the week. I see vehicles with these type lights occasionally and they blind me with those blazing bright lights in my face or in my mirrors. I haven't seen as many lately and I've been wondering if some states are adopting laws to limit the use of these for normal driving conditions.
  5. I think he said it's a 50? if that makes sense. I would have to go check the shop invoice for more info on it. I don't have a video at this time.
  6. I just put a new dual exhaust on my Sierra 5.3 in March. I got the Flomaster muffler and the shop did the custom pipe work. I converted from single exhaust to dual and cost out the door was $700. I don't know how loud you wanna go? ......but this setup is not extremely loud. I told the guy at the shop I did not want something annoyingly noisy and loud, just give me a good V-8 engine sound.....and that's what it is. I do not notice any drone. On the highway it's not much louder than stock. It has that deep throaty rumble on startup and driving at low speed. My neighbor has a Ram with a Borla and that thing sounds like a dump truck roaring......perfect example of what I did not want.
  7. I just did this a few months ago. Here's the way mine went: I got rear-ended in the car wash 2 days after Christmas. Only damage was the rear bumper was dented, so I opted to go with an aftermarket bumper with black dual exhaust tips included from LKQ. The other guys car insurance paid for new bumper and installation minus $200 for the upgrade. I then went to a local muffler shop and they did all the exhaust work custom and I got a Flomaster muffler. They made a custom hanger and said I didn't need a heat shield. Total cost at the muffler shop was around $700. Sounds great and looks great I love it! It's not extremely loud but has that throaty rumbly sound. Wife is not an auto enthusiast but doesn't mind the added sound effects.
  8. My '22 Sierra came with BFG KO2s from the dealer and, looking at the tread pattern, I assumed they would be awful in the rain. I was wrong they are the best AT tires I've ever used and I've used alot of them since 1989. They do not break traction on a wet road they are great. On my '14 Silverado that I traded in, I was running Toyo Open Country. They were pretty good on wet roads but would break traction occasionally. This was the 2nd set of Toyo's I ran on it. The 1st set was identical and I was determined to get 60,000 miles out of them as that's what they're rated for, so I just kept running them and I did get to 60,000 on them, but they were bald and borderline not really safe to run at that point I should've replaced them sooner. The worst ones I ever had were Uniroyal Laredo's and those were dangerous in the rain it's a wonder I survived to get 40,000 miles on them before I replaced with GY Wranglers.
  9. Ok so heres what it looks like at this point (maybe not the best pic?). Keep in mind this is after 3 yrs and 37,000 miles. Here is also a pic of the mud guards.....or what's left of them. Only thing holding them on now is 1 screw in the bottom and the plug. You can also see just how much plastic and carpet was already removed by Customizers to fit the original rims and tires. Pretty much stripped down to bare bones under there.....but no tire rubbing!
  10. Thanks. I'll try and get a pic for you.
  11. Agreed. They are as flat black as an old BBQ grill. They would look better on a truck with enamel paint, or one that someone did a custom paint job on......like camo or OD green or something. To me the trucks with a shiny metallic finish look better with wheels that are at least somewhat shiny.
  12. The pics in my post above show the truck as it looked when I bought it 3 yrs ago. I did find out a little more info: it has a 3" Superlift and the rims on it are like a generic Customizers shop brand. They are 20 X 9 +12. So now a month later I have done a number of things with the truck. The new rims are Fuel Flame Blackout 20 X 10 -18. I decided to stay with the same tires I've been running on because they still have good tread and should last awhile yet. They are BFG KO2 305/55/R20 and they have 37,000+ miles at this point. Surprisingly they rubbed really bad on the mud guards when I got them mounted, even with the 3" lift and the mud guards already cut down by Customizers. I removed the mud guards and cut them down even more, then I pushed the carpet that was under the mud guards back behind the metal lip and zip tied it, then I went to a local 4WD custom shop and they did a 4 wheel alignment and shifted the front wheels forward about 3/4". Does not rub anymore and I replaced what was left of the mud guards and looks pretty good, but any ideas I had about getting bigger tires is off the table. I would have to cut or bend the metal corner behind where the mud guards are and may not be able to put them back on at that point, so I will stick with this size when I replace the tires in a few months. I also went from a single exhaust tailpipe with plain bumper to a dual exhaust tailpipe with dual port bumper. The bumper is an aftermarket from LKQ. It had to be painted and came with the black tips. I always liked the look of the factory dual port bumper and regretted that my truck did not come with it. It took a bit of money and effort but I'm pleased with how everything turned out.
  13. I bought a set of these when my truck was new 3 yrs ago. So far they've been great! The name plate fell off the drivers side one after about 2 yrs but I just glued it back in place.....not really important. They fit great and clean up easily.
  14. '22 Sierra Elevation 5.3 is a dealer custom done by a local shop here. It came with 20X9 or 20x10? matte black rims (unsure of manufacturer? and actual width size?), 305/55/R20 BFG KO2s, no rubs. Has a RC lift either 3" or 4" (conflicting info from dealer) and the plastic mud flaps are trimmed. Looks like some carpet is trimmed off also. Planning to replace the wheels sometime soon but the ones I want are backordered so I'm waiting awhile to see if they become available. Not sure if I'll go with the same tire size ?
  15. '14 Silverado LT with 2" RC leveling kit on the front. Has 18X9 +18 Ultra Motorsport Warlock rims with Toyo Open Country 285/65/18. No rubs and did not rub without the level kit. Owned this truck for 8-9 yrs, then traded in 2022.
