  1. Ahh, now I see your angle! That works!
  2. Your right about the emission crap - 100% of the Ford issues with all the newer diesels (6.0, 6.4, 6.7) are all emission component related. If you live where they test, you're stuck with an unreliable and EXPENSIVE ... HOLY SH** EXPENSIVE ... pile of junk. If you can bulletproof any of them, they're awesome engines. Best ever. Of course, Ford took the route most manufacturers take these days of designing everything so that backyard mechanics will throw in the towel. The cab has to come off for any major engine work. Without a lift, you're in for a serious swearing and throwing tools session.
  3. Yeah, that's what I do, unless I happen to already have the welder outside. In that case I weld on a stripped (hex) bolt I have laying around.
  4. LOL I was just about to say something similar. Powerstrokehelp on Youtube taught me all about those nightmares ...
  5. Wow .. and in Cali too! Welcome to my world, Chris. This happens with anything we touch out here.
  6. That's never fun. I've spent a good bit of time under mine, and it's only at 86,870 or so. My tranny will be next I bet ...
  7. Well that was fun. What a mess! Marked her territory like a 9 year old GM product. Had to fire it up and get into position super fast, so I could winch the thing the rest of the way up the trailer. Bet the pan is nearly dry now. Looks nice in my driveway. Looks like yuppies moved in. Bet you can't tell which pics are smartphone pics, and which are 10 year old flip-phone pics ...
  8. Getting ready to haul a '08 Lexus RX350 here. Thing blew an oil cooler line (common issue in the V6) and puked nearly every ounce of oil out on their 5 mile drive home. If their apartment was 10' further up the road, this would be a motor swap. Found a Dorman ( ) assembly that's all metal, instead of the little short hoses the OEM used. So, I figure it'll rust through in around the same length of time the rubber lasted. Should be a fun job. Everything is packed in there. First foray into Lexus territory. Never even sat in one before, let alone worked on one. Time to put the Silverado to work.
  9. You can't win today. They're all junk! They sucked us all in by increasing horsepower & improving suspension, but then cheaped out on everything around them. Doesn't matter what brand - they're all the same these days.
  10. All I know is, the less the government is involved in ANY part of my life, the better ...
  11. ^^^ BWAHAHAHAAHAHA! That's friggin great!!
  12. WTF ... I'd have been livid!! What a cluster****. Figures, though. Not surprised at all.
  13. My grandfather and father were die-hard Ford guys for a long time. Grandfather was from birth till death. My dad switched to GM in the early 90's. Yep - Ford was the master of "quirks", that's for sure. Some of their engineering defies logic.
  14. Yeah, they're no different. I think they do this on purpose to trip up backyard mechanics 20 years down the road. Who knows ...
  15. GM is an odd company. Not unlike Harley-Davidson. They love mid-year, and cross-model changes. Can't keep up with all of it. You'd think they'd want to give their techs a break, and just keep things familiar across every model. NOPE! Not in GM-land ...
  16. So they went back to rear disc for '10? I don't get it ...
  17. Good info CJ - thanks! I might have to upgrade sometime soon.
  18. That's what I've always done - only needs to fire a couple seconds. Grease catches most of it, so just make sure you have it all cleaned up first.
  19. Never said any of that. It's just that I've grabbed my pistol while getting off the can, accidentally, by the trigger - just grabbed it the same way I always do, except that ONE time my finger found it's way into the trigger guard, and the weight of the pistol (which is alot) was 100% on the trigger. It was in my own bathroom, so it wouldn't have been a big deal - maybe deafened me and put a hole in the wall (and made me extremely angry with myself), but that's about it. I recognized my mistake right away, and haven't come close to doing it since. Just one second of being "too comfortable" is all it takes. If that was a Glock, it would've went bang. I pride myself on being safe too - always have. We're only human and mistakes happen. God knows I make more than my fair share of them. Knowing this, I carry a 1911 style.
  20. Oh yeah forgot about that double/single deal. Not a big fan of that at all. I shoot Glocks better than anything. Love them. I'm too absent minded to carry one daily, though. Don't want to be "that guy" ... In MA it's only legal for law-enforcement to buy them new, so your only going to find a newer model one when a cop wants to sell one. This state is such a joke ...
  21. Really can't go wrong with any of the major name brand guns today. They're all really good. Not much junk out there anymore. It just comes down to how it feels in your hand, and what style you want. I loved the Warthog because it's basically a compact 1911. That was the first pistol I ever shot, so I'm partial to the 1911 workings. I like having the thumb safety with the grip safety - zero chance of me doing anything stupid.
  22. Here's a nice concealed-carry piece ... S&W 500.
