  1. BS!! Don't presume to tell me how it worked, when I was there. Again, the last dealer I dared take this type of short "test drive" with told me that they would be very pleased to do business with me, as their "review during the test drive" had told them (they had a printout!) I had no criminal record and outstandingly excellent credit, with available credit estimates. And the printout also showed the last 4 places I had lived with the contact info, and the names and locations of my closest relatives. All off my driver's license, no other info provided (obviously they had the tag number and vin on my vehicle), and nothing signed or permissions given! I was so put off by that whole experience that we just walked out and never went back.
  2. Moronic behavior like this explains why dealers today handle test drives the way they do: Only after surrendering your driver's license for a background check, do you get the 'pleasure' of driving a similar demo vehicle (not the vehicle you want to buy) for half a mile with an overbearing salesman riding shotgun, telling you which way to go and how to drive.
  3. THIS. It is laughable how easily these little plastic gears break. Hardly ever used them on our GMT900 and they were all broken just off of warranty. Definitely not engineered for the weight of even thin Americans!
  4. Not sure why GM still hasn't been able to build a cooler line worth a damn in the last 30+ years.
  5. Posted on Women's Day, for those 8 speed automatic owners "flipping the puck".
  6. LIGHTEN UP, newbie Donovan, lest your future questions go ignored!
  7. 2009 Silverado crew cab Z71 4x4 5.3L. Apparently some scum sucking lowlife has punctured the fuel tank at the bottom to steal a gallon or two of gas in the parking lot. The other 12 gallons or so left a big wet spot on the asphalt. I haven't crawled under it yet, waiting for daylight and the pavement to dry up. How to fix this? Youtube videos say JB Weld, but then there are comments saying that won't work. 2 local big chain parts stores said replacement tanks are not available? Can't afford a dealer tow and $1000+ bill now (just had to pay the dealer $600 a month ago), and no way to drop tank in apt lot--no shelter and too cold. Thanks for any ideas!
  8. Valvoline SynPower and Mobil1 grease used here interchangeably through the years, from Autozone. Now keeping the grease gun in the garage instead of the small backyard shed containing the mower, as it is cooler in the hot summer and the grease separates less. I agree with Txab on leaving the handle cocked to relieve some pressure.
  9. Many of us have tried to get this fixed for a couple of years. At this point, it appears that Zane is only interested in revenue streams--the incessant ads here, and telling everyone to view the youtube channel. Nothing else ever gets done. Txab is about the only active moderator--there used to be many.
  10. What codes are you getting? If a P0521, 522, or 523 (oil pressure sensor voltage), how is that putting it in "limp mode"? Others have driven a thousand miles with a check engine light on steady and one of those codes stored.
  11. There is no screen on anything before 2007. I repeat, there is no screen on anything before 2007.
  12. VEHICLE: 2009 Silverado 1500 Z71 4x4, 5.3L LC9 engine, 102K miles, AFM turned off via Hypertech tuner, oil changed every 4K miles with full synthetic 5W-30 and AC Delco or Wix oil filter. SITUATION: Out of town on holiday travel. CEL hit with P0523 code 2 days ago when windchill -31F, 60% left on oil life monitor, with my last Shell Rotella Gas Truck 5W-30 oil and PF48E filter. Had to install new group 48 battery yesterday. 11F degrees and windy. Fun. Crap never happens when its warm. Today it has CEL back on and oil pressure gauge ping pongs between max reading and zero, with intermittent red oil light and LOW OIL PRESSURE, TURN OFF ENGINE message in DIC. Now has P0522 and P0573 codes as well. Truck seems to be running as good as ever. Oil level is full on dipstick, no visible leaks. I believe the P0573 code is just a bad brake light switch, as the cruise control does not work. I can fix that again myself later. The no oil pressure on the gauge, red oil light, and LOW OIL PRESSURE, TURN ENGINE OFF messages are very troubling, with less than ideal weather and elderly passengers. Local Chevy dealer can't book it in for a week, and I need to get back to a business meeting 200 miles away in 3 days. Is this just a bad oil pressure sensor and or plugged little screen? I don't see how it wouldn't be clanking like a sumbitch or already seized up if it truly had no oil pressure. The damned warning lights and chimes and DIC message every minute is maddening and scaring the crap out of the folks. Thanks in advance for any help on this.
  13. Negative. We still have an 09 Silverado crew cab that was assembled in Silao. Window sticker says LC9 engine and MYC transmission were both built in the US.
  14. What's a diesel got to do with it?
