  1. So since it's been awhile since I've updated this...here we go Both front hubs....again. Both front outer tie rods...cheap parts, my fault. All tires...cheap tires don't last long. Front passenger window regulator Fuel pump, on the road so shop replaced it Fuel filter, along with new pump Fuel pressure regulator Thermostat...finally. New hitch & pin, both stolen...WTH??? Battery Alternator Wiper washer pump Repaired washer lines Valve cover gaskets Redneck tire carrier installed Front brakes Most recent....upgraded transmission cooler. Old one was still working but new one is twice the size & doing great. That's what I can think of for the truck off hand. I post again of what I've done in the shop.
  2. Finally hit the road today. Last minute change, now using the truck to tow ourselves back to Alaska. The wife's Jeep just wasn't going to cut it.
  3. Oh quiet down, you're still a 100k behind me...lol
  4. Finally got to the as antifreeze change. In the interest of time before the big cross country trip I left the old thermostat alone. Finally got all the "must do" items done from when I bought the truck. Now for the want to do items...well and a few other new better get done soon items.
  5. Drove to base & got my VA claim started.
  6. Sitting back & watch as my house is getting packed up for the big move back to Alaska. Soooo happy to let the military take moving me this time.
  7. Finally got around to replacing the trans filter yesterday. I dropped the cross member out & that made it soooo much easier compared to a friend's truck I worked a couple years ago. Got it all together and then found diff fluid all over my rear passenger tire. I took the vent tube completely out & cleared it out. Also made sure the fitting on the axle tube was clear. So far no more fluid, but I ordered the seal just in case.
  8. Holy crap, that's still expensive. Even a dealer couldn't get it cheaper?
  9. So far...no. However with the wife planning to go back to school, I may end up being a stay at home dad for awhile.
  10. I hear you. I have about 5 applications out awaiting a response.
  11. Well that last picture being one with the car on a dealer lot tells me the 1,000 words or "personal reasons" I would think scam.
  12. No doubt, I know that GM did away with them on the gas engines and I just assumed they did on the diesels as well...that's what I get for assuming. I know I wouldn't mind getting rid of it on my truck.
  13. Which truck is this? I only ask because I thought they did away with EGR valves for all trucks years ago...
  14. Packing all my "stuff" for the big move next month.

  15. Just rolled over 20k miles since taking ownership of the truck.
  16. That's what I thought to. I was dreading taking it anywhere for the fear of the price tag to fix it up. It was a local place that came highly recommended from several coworkers. They took good care of my truck and showed me exactly what was going on as it was being serviced. I knew the switch was a big part of the problem and I was only nursing it along (and probably hurting it too) by running it bypassed. I think I need to invest in the proper tools and some training in AC work.
  17. Well I took some time and got the truck to a repair shop and $136.45 I got my AC properly serviced. They replaced the low pressure/cycling switch, the high pressure service valve, evacuated, pressure checked and reserviced the entire system. On the way back to work it was blowing 60 degree air but it started getting colder as I got to my shop. With luck everything will be on the up and up (or is that down in down?!) with the system. One more repair completed.
  18. Towed a couple of electric vehicles down the road to be scraped. Now my truck suddenly is making a intermittent scraping noise...hopefully something just came loose that I can tighten.
  19. Yesterday my new tailgate latches came in so last night I threw them on. Only took maybe 10 minutes per side. Tailgate works properly again. Old latches were so worn out I surprised the tailgate stayed closed at all. Also fixed up a riding mower for a friend. Had problems staying running, replaced a fuse and reseated a plug up under the carb. Now I'm waiting on my order for new diaphragm for the leaf blower I'm also working on. Blower doesn't run, no fuel getting to the cylinder. Hopefully that shows up as quickly as the latches did.
  20. See I like your two tone. Mine on the other hand...white top and a goldish color on the bottom. The white is fine, but the goldish color is just plan yuck! My plan is the paint the entire thing a yellow color and then paint the fender flares black.
  21. Ordered new latches for the tailgate from Amazon, $41 for the pair. Suppose to be in next week. The challenge will be to install the things.
  22. I was going to top off the front diff but last night decided to just go ahead and change the fluid. Took the skid plate off and scrapped 20lbs of mud/sand off of it and then drained the diff. Had some shavings on the plug, I attribute that to the previous owner's neglect of maintenance. I changed the fluid when I first got it, it was not healthy looking fluid then so now hopefully the diff is a little happier getting a flush and fill again. Also started taking measurements to get a splash guard fabricated. It'll be nice to have a splash guard to help keep the underside a little cleaner.
  23. ...and then starting over? lol
  24. That is one awesome looking vehicle...now I would expect to see...and hear a video of how she moves.
