  1. there is a tsb on the leaf springs. Clean between the leaf springs and apply grease. I have to do my truck once a year to stop it.
  2. Ive got around same miles on my truck. Ive done the diff service, trans and transfer case. Just beacuse i tow alot. check for cab light, xm ant leak on roof. Also check rear third brake light leak. They can leak water in car. Other than that keep it serviced and greased and it will be good. Motor it strong. trans is pretty tough. No matter what brand truck you buy, they are all going to break at some piont.
  3. thanks for the info. I like having more truck than you think your going to need.
  4. That is a great looking rig.
  5. That is a sharp looking truck!!!!! very nice. What the specs on that?
  6. I think there get a grove wore in them, and it catches on the lip of the other spring and thats causes the clunk. Mine is bad again. Im going to call the dealer again to see if there is a fix for it now.
  7. My truck did it. They greased the leaf springs, it worked for a while. It started it again, really loud now. Gotta bring it back. Mine is right rear. 32,000 miles on it.
  8. What kind of plow do you have? What is the condition of you battery's? Does it have dual battery's?
  9. Yes this happens. Its luck that it did idle. Most times the filter gets a wax in it and doesn't flow fuel. In your case it let enough fuel threw to idle, but as the rpms and load increases it cant supply enough fuel to do this. Diesel needs to be cut or have additives in it to keep it from gelling.
  10. I run timbrens in all my trucks. Had them in my half tons too. I tried both air lift, and Firestone air bags. I hated that i needed to add air when loaded and take it out when not. They leaked air when it got cold, and had to take air out when lifting truck on lift. I just put timbrens in and forget about them. They just work. Air bags did help but more expensive and harder to deal with. In the picture it is 12,000lbs total. The truck sits nice. not sure why it cut picture off, maybe its the way i took it on cell phone. I also haul my tractor in my dump trailer
  11. Hey sillywillie07, I'm not good at how to post on these forums. In reference to my transmission that was rebuilt on my 3500, they said they had to program it again. Its shifting real hard in 4th now so they want me to bring it in again. The service manager said he didn't quite know what else to do to it because they already reset the programming on it but they would figure something out. So I need to weigh my truck I guess. I don't really have much on it but tools, compressor, and generator welded to service bed. I know this all adds up but I have friends with 3/4 tons Chevys that pull 8000 lb skid steers with their truck. I'm just having a hard time understanding a heavy duty transmission not performing I guess. I appreciate you replying back on some info and will ask them what you said when I get it back to them.

  12. just a side picture.
  13. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=296939 this is some info on the 8.1l
  14. I read somewhere that if you put a lower temp thermostat in the 8.1 it will use less oil. There is a link to a web site that has lots of info on the 8.1l. Also upgrade the spark plugs and gap them, will help with power and mpg.
