Sorry for late reply holidays, giant storm all that fun stuff and all.
But anyway im just going off what the dealer told me as to why my truck is rough starting with a bit of brownish black smoke (tiny tiny bit) and huge plumes of white, its also running very rich with a very minor misfire, they said plugs are likely bad and will fix it, as for the check engine codes it says its the O2 sensors dealer cleared them and they havent come back on, one shop claimed the alcohol sensor was tripped and had to be reset or the ecm replaced due to too much ethenol in a flex fuel truck -_- seriously just because im young and fat does not mean im stupid and know NOTHING about cars.
Dealer wants $400 to do plugs and wires and local shops are averageing around $350+ after labor hence why i want to try on my own...heh, things i have checked and done so far are coolant is bright orange looks like brand new, oil is dark gold and needs a change but looks normal for 6k miles (i use mobile 1 full synthetic 10k dexron oil) no weird smells or residue, no leaks i can find, and truck runs fine abet rich when it warms up.
Best guess was plugs as the truck spent a lot of time offroad in the oilfields on dirt (i had to change filters every 2 or 3 weeks due to the dust) and i tended to idle a lot because -40 is bullshit without heat, next guess is o2 sensors are actully bad, or that my injectors are having issues, i ran a can of seafoam through a full tank to see if that helped and nada.
So am i even on the right track?
