HID Headlight Bulbs / HID Projector Retrofit
searay220 replied to MotoMedic's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Mods
Yes the truck (2015 GMC 2500HD ) came with halgen projector headlights. They were so bad it was a safety issue. I installed 9006-6K-G4-CANBUS and I couldn't be more pleased. But now some little grease monkey says he will have to fail me because any and all after market HID's are not legal according to him.- 3,357 replies

HID Headlight Bulbs / HID Projector Retrofit
searay220 replied to MotoMedic's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Mods
Why upgrade to HID bulbs? Projector headlight systems were originally designed to be used with HID's. Instead of offering HID's in the 2014 trucks, GM opted to go the cheap route and use halogen bulbs instead. The result is headlights many of us consider inadequate, at best. Installing HID bulbs helps to partially correct what many see as a significant design flaw. HID bulbs are not perfect (primarily because of GM's use of inferior lenses and reflectors in the stock projectors) but are a substantial improvement over the stock halogen bulbs. What is a projector retrofit? A projector retrofit is the process of installing HID projectors into vehicles that were originally equipped with standard halogen reflector headlights. It has also come to include any upgrades to a vehicle's existing projectors, whether they be the halogen or HID variety. Aftermarket HID projector retrofits are the best lighting upgrade currently available, but have significantly higher costs and generally require a greater knowledge & skill level to install compared to HID bulb kits. On my 2015 GMC Sierra 2500HD I did install an aftermarket HID kit in my projector headlights. The stock halogen lights sucked. The HID's are great and aimed perfectly and have never had anyone flash me. So here's my problem: I went for a state inspection and got rejected because of the "after market HID's. I couldn't believe it. Has anyone been through this?- 3,357 replies

2015 2500 HD Leveling Kit/ Tire Size
searay220 replied to chris42w's topic in 2015-2019 Silverado & Sierra HD Mods
Just got my Fuel Nutz wheels 20x10 -12 offset with lt295/55r20 E Toyo AT2. I've got about 8 full turns on the stock torsion keys and put shock extensions on. It's not quite leveled and has a slight rake. I'm very happy with the stance and the looks however I'm getting some rubbing on the mud guards. I was able to wire tie the front felt out of the way so no trouble there. I need maybe 1/4 of a inch more clearance at the mud guards. How can I get a little more clearance without any major surgery? Has anybody experienced this? -

I cranked up the torsion bars 6 turns just to get the front leveled up. I'm getting some new Fuel wheels 9x20 and I want to go to a bigger tire. What size should I go with? -

I'm looking to replace all my lines within the next couple of weeks but a little unsure how to go about it. I'm concerned about losing all the fluid in the master cylinder and do you do one line at a time or cut them all out at once? Helpful tips are needed. Thanks

I just did the fix for the transfercase last week. Now I'm looking at the my exhaust manifold bolts a couple of them have rotted off. Both of these issues are major screw ups from GM and should be addressed. They won't even acknowledge the problems but will be happy to tell you how much it will cost to repair them.

Is it possible to remove the rear half of the transfercase to do the fix? Has anyone tried this?
