  1. Could it be the tailgate locking mechanism? I can hear mine when I open my driver's door after it's sat unlocked for awhile in the garage...
  2. Do you know what speakers he went with?
  3. Take a look at VLEDS resistors. They’re pretty robust and have been working flawlessly in my front and rear signals. They barely even get warm to the touch...
  4. I can see the appeal of leasing, but I much prefer owning, being able to customize, and not having a monthly payment. I paid my 2009 off and thoroughly enjoyed being payment-free the following 6 years.
  5. Anybody paid out-of-pocket for a display? Just curious what it would be out of warranty.
  6. Washington State is exploring the idea of replacing the current gas tax for road funding with a pay-per-mile system via GPS tracking. From there it's a short trip to the government adjusting the cost of your trip to push their agenda, or dictate what trips they deem to be necessary and when they deem them necessary. With Seattle leading the charge, the DOT would much rather see people on bikes, busses or trains and not driving their own automobiles. From there, why not instant speeding tickets? Are you now a suspect of a crime because you were within a mile radius?
  7. Here are the lights - only $10 for 2 on Amazon: http://a.co/48H87qq Here is the switch I used: http://a.co/hGwJyGh I used self tapping sheet metal screws to mount the lights in the oval holes of the hood frame. They aren't quite big enough, so I had to slide them toward the inside edge. It was plenty strong to hold them in place, and they have a ton of clearance room. I fished the wires through that same hood frame to the fuse box side and connect it to the other light. I was initially going to tap into the fuse box for power, but couldn't get inside cleanly so I ran a wire directly to the battery along the firewall. I tapped a ground wire into the spare battery bracket. I haven't mounted the switch yet, but I'll probably just zip tie it to something with 3M tape on the back. It's not something I'm planning on using regularly, so for me it doesn't have to be super fancy - just accessible. I'm very happy with the light output though! And can't beat the $17 cost.
  8. Added some LED engine bay lights. Went with a sealed push button vs pressure switch (since I don't need a light every time I open the hood)
  9. I love how their first diagnosis is always aftermarket parts. I have similar symptoms and asked them to check it out at my first oil change last week. They said they couldn't replicate it but that they noticed I installed an Airaid intake tube and said it was probably getting too much air... C'mon now!
  10. Just checked my '17 with adjustable pedals and sure enough it moves around like toy car pedal. Stuffed in the prescribed paint stick and cured a little of the movement. Unbelievably cheesy setup Chevrolet - not impressed... Thanks for the heads-up OP.

    tail lights

How are those tail lights holding up? Any complaints? They look nice!
  12. Is the top square, above the reverse light square, just a reflector? Or does it light up with the brakes?

  15. One last question - I'm assuming only one resistor on each side is all that is needed for the LTZ harness/LTZ LED tail lights. I would like to use the VLED resistors. Would 6ohm/25w be adequate? They also have a 3ohm/50w resistor...
  16. Do you happen to know which color wires would need the resistors on the factory LTZ harness? I figure it would be about half the cost to buy an extra LTZ harness set and then tap in with my own resistors versus buying the gen5diy harness that does the same thing with an extension harness...
  17. I'm stressed out just reading about it and seeing the interior dismantled... Amazing skills! Have you ever thought about going to work as a GM designer/engineer??
  18. Fastest, cheapest, most useful mod to date! Works great and only two tries in about 10 minutes. Thanks for the info OP!
  19. If you don’t mind my asking, where did you find a great deal on LTZ tail lights? I’ve been scouring eBay and Craigslist for a good deal, but striking out so far...
  20. The ones that typically come with the LED tail lights, and connect directly to them, correct?
  21. Thanks for getting back to me. Guess I'll grab some of the GEN5DIY P&P harnesses... Looks like they're on sale!
  22. So with these do you unplug the existing harnesses with the three bulb sockets further back and simply replace them with these? And then go directly to the new LED tail light assemblies? Do you happen to have the GM part number(s) for the necessary harnesses? (I have a 2017 1500 LT if it matters)
