  1. Any one have any idea if there is a Corsa dB series exhaust for the 6.2L? On their website as soon as you select 6.2L filter, all the dB series ones disappear. What happens if I put a 5.3L system on my 6.2L? My thoughts are that it's likely the same system (5.3 vs 6.2) except the pipe diameter is like .5inch less for 5.3L. I'll have to give them a call.
  2. I was just in a 80 mile trip of city and highway in a Ecodiesel with the 8spd. That trans didn't have a single hiccup. Im just not totally satisfied with my 8spd. After 20k miles I still have jerky shifts especially gears 1, 2, 3, and 4 both up shifting and even downshifting such as braking for a red light. Sometimes the jerk overpowers the amount of brake Im applying. Id like to drive another GM 8spd truck to compare it to mine.
  3. Fyi at least on the USA trucks, when you turn it to the left, not only does it disable auto headlights, it disables the DRLs :-( Waiting for someone to figure out how to disable auto headlights without losing DRLs
  4. agreed with keeping the column shifter.
  5. Is it just me or do these trucks have a much deeper tone than previous generations? I'm not talking in stock form. I've recently been listening to vids where guys are doing a muffler and resonator delete, the warm idle sounds so sick!! It nearly reminds me of a straight piped Duramax. I wonder if these trucks idle a bit lower than previous generations as well, that may add to it. Even revs sounds pretty good with the muffler/resonator delete. I am usually not a fan of the sound when people "straight pipe" but on this gen truck I'm liking it. I'm tossing the idea of doing it to mine.... I dunno tho.
  6. I do like my 8 speed. Every time I leave work, I turn out of the parking lot onto a road with a 40mph speed limit. Every shift, especially the 2-3 shift, jerks the truck a little. Once it cycles through those gears once, its pretty smooth the rest of the way home. I just don't think it shifts quite right until it gets some temp in the fluids. I just don't understand why GM can't get these trans more-better lol. I've driven a few different GM vehicles and the trucks (1500 series, at least) are the only ones, in my experience, which have the clunky jerky upshifts/downshifts. One time I had to jam the brakes to a stop and it made a loud bang and actually pushed the truck forward despite the hard braking I was doing. I do enjoy my 8speed overall. Especially when towing or romping on it
  7. My key does not stay in position. Itll go back to the Run position soon as I let go however the starter will continue to turn over til it starts. OP is saying the key physically stays in Start position til it starts then goes back to Run on its own? Interesting...
  8. My 15 feels the same way. It's interesting because the RPMs are generally in the same range for the first couple shifts. It's just funny that all of a sudden in 3rd or 4th gear it feels like it's coming on boost lol. I notice that if I'm not resting my head back and i begin accelerating at a consistent throttle position, I can feel my neck start to go back. Maybe I'm weird
  9. Yea it's the free one. He just added a ton of dials/gauges to his display. You can do the same by long pressing in the realtime info screen. Edit: im sure the free version allows you to do some editing. I opted for the full version, i forget what the differences are.
  10. WOW that is a LOT of information lol I like it!! I assume you have a 5.3L Flex Fuel to see the Ethanol Content? Pretty interesting its right on 60%, just what we should expect in winter (per what I've read online). I always liked watching the Air Intake Temp, so interesting to watch it go up and down, especially in the summer. It's amazing how hot it can get under there when idling in traffic.
  11. Well, it went ok. I wasn't able to get the Oil PSI to read either. I tried doing a short scan for PIDs but that didn't help. I am second guessing myself if scanning for PIDs gets you more things to read from or not. I thought it gave me more options on my Avalanche but that doesn't seem to be happening on this truck. This one sure has a lot more features though, I like your setup screen.
  12. You buy a OBD port scanner dongle thing and it reads all the computer stats and sends it to your phone or tablet over Bluetooth. I bought the dongle for $20 on Amazon. You can also read and clear engine codes!
  13. Did you try doing a full scan of PIDs? I never used it with this truck yet but have a 6 hr drive tomorrow, I'm gonna finally set it up while my dad drives
  14. Interesting, good to know that the fuel door is a dead give away. I never thought of that, just used to judge by the space between the wheel and the cab. Sure glad they brought back the "longer" bed...
  15. Notice anything different after the cleaning? How long was the service ?
  16. haha yes I love the fact that at 80-85mph (per the DIC) my MPG is as good as my Avalanche got at ~74mph.
  17. Thanks GDI Tech, I think I'll hang onto my E2 large can for now. I wish the new new one came out a little sooner before I bought this one! I think I will do the Induction Cleaning every 2nd oil change. I'm coming up on my 2nd oil change, currently at 9,800 miles, running catch can since 1,500 miles, so yea.
  18. haha GDI Tech do a Copy all text before submitting just in case! That way you can just paste it back in to re-submit!
  19. Crap that isn't good to hear at all. Mine was super close to that, if not the same. No idea how long it was at that level either. Wouldn't it be expected that the line would have some funk in it anyway because this can is not catching 100%.. I'm also becoming interested in this BG service. Coming up on 10,000 miles, I know it should be be done within the next few thousand while the build up is minimal. Mjj, maybe let me know if you discover some place to get it done. Not sure where you are but I'm in SE Michigan. I wonder if BG is more or less effective than taking the intake manifold off and going in and manually cleaning the valves.
  20. Does anyone know how full it would be before it starts sucking thru? Mine was about 1 inch before the threads when i last emptied. Im checking it every couple days now it's filling so fast.
  21. Hmm I'll have to see how quickly mine fills after a couple days. It's 8 degrees, brr!! Also, does your exhaust smoke a lot in the cold? I have been paying attention to other cars at stop lights lately and notice that more often than not most cars at the light are NOT smoking while my truck is still spewing out a fairly decent cloud of condensation... is this normal for these trucks? Even after the engine reaches operating temp and stays at that temp for several miles. Maybe I am not getting on it enough, usually I'm putzing on my commute to work and back, barely making 2k rpm ever.
  22. I just got back from up north and my can looked as full as yours. I was like oh s**t!! I hope nothing got sucked thru... otherwise that probably made a huge mess!
  23. I was just looking at tire rack and it seems the 275/60 is 15lbs more than the stock LS2s, and the 275/65 is 17lbs more (2lbs more than 275/60). I would have expected it to weigh more than that. I wonder if there is a bigger MPG hit going 275/65 vs 275/60. If anything, the bigger diameter would probably be the culprit of worse MPG.
  24. I tried the Fluid Film on my frame back in November. I sprayed in on the part of the frame you can easily see in the rear wheel well. It was very tacky going on which is good, however I put my finger on it just to feel it and as I wipe it my frame coating came right with me. I had it on for about 3 weeks and washed my truck twice at the quarter car wash and also drove in a few rainstorms. There was some additional spots where the coating was kinda running off when it was all said and done. I ended up having my entire truck Ziebarted. I did the full rust proofing. I'm satisfied, but a little unhappy with the quality (overspray). I spent a few hours with wax and tar remover getting the overspray off my wheels and paint. I opened the hood recently to empty my catch can and noticed that a lot of stuff under the hood has some over spray on it too, such as the Brake Fluid container, its very obvious there since that is a clear container. I noticed my mud flaps have some overspray too, no idea what I'll do to get that off yet. It's so minor though that no one would ever notice any of this except super anal detailers like myself. We'll see how this Ziebart plays out... may be a great investment or a big mistake, time will tell. I gotta go back once a year to keep the warranty. Oh, and the interior of the truck is even quieter now. I do plan on using Fluid Film still on my wheels and also the trailer hitch. I haven't sprayed either yet because of laziness. Thankfully the winter has been super mild here in SE MI, which is also bad because my snowmobile is just sitting.... :-(
