  1. I got my last 25 average to be 8 MPG. Combination of idling due to the snow storm we just had in SE Michigan, and also some messing around in the snow :-)
  2. I just had a thought about these Catch Cans. So they start filling up with fluid, what if you hit some bumps and it starts sloshing around, could the intake take a big ol gulp?
  3. has anyone tried this in trucks that have the halogen projectors? SIERRA SPEC: MORIMOTO ELITE HID SYSTEM I read someone tried it on the Duramax forum and it looks like they had real good results for the factory SLT projectors.
  4. They emailed me back telling me I have the bars installed backwards and that the pad closes to the curve should be at the front. I will check for this when I leave work. EDIT: So I tried remounting them on the opposite side like they recommended and that didn't work. It's actually impossible to mount them as DeeZee support described because the middle bracket won't line up with the hole on the bar. It's off by probably 3 inches. For now, I didn't bother to remount the steps, and I didn't want to scuff my mud flaps up anymore. Waiting to hear back from them hopefully today. I am almost convinced I'll be sending these back.
  5. I just got hand calculated 21.3 MPG in my truck 388 mile round trip. About 40 miles of 60mph and the rest was mostly 75mph with some 80mph on the highway and also some minor stop and go rush hour traffic in the mix. I am very happy with that number. I run 93. A/C on too. The DIC read 21.3MPG as well. This was the first time in the probably 10 or 11 fill ups that my hand calculation matched the DIC. Usually DIC reads .5mpg to 1mpg higher.
  6. Hey all, I think I may have received the wrong mounting hardware. What are your thoughts? I think I am going to contact AutoAnything and or DeeZee. These are the online instructions found on DeeZees website: http://www.deezee.com/product_images/DZ372537.pdf Here is the front page of the instructions I received. Notice the mounting hardware is completely different The box I received, which I had already cut up... if things couldn't get any worse already :-(
  7. I just had a thought - should any runningboard/nerf bar ever hit the front splash guards, or are they all designed to be able to be mounted without hitting it?
  8. I am pretty confident I used all the parts correctly. Yes, there is only one support in the center. I'm pretty confident the bars are on the correct side. The reason I say this is because when my dad and I went to install the first one, we quickly realized that we grabbed the wrong bar when trying to line it up. Grabbed the other one and everything lined up. I am very OCD too and this is going to drive me nuts, I need to figure something out. It was me you were telling about the weight limit, 465lbs is pretty impressive... EDIT - maybe I should trade these in on the Raptors.
  9. Well, here are the Dee Zees installed... they aren't level. I am not sure why, I mounted in the slots per the directions. You can also see that it bumps into my front splash guards. I am not too thrilled about these. I hope they help my girlfriend get in and out of the truck. I just noticed that the passenger side door sill or whatever you want to call it is beginning to have some surface marks/wear from her most likely letter her shoe rub the sill as she slides out. Hopefully these steps will help that issue. I think I may need to move them outwards more because I think they're a little tight to the body. These totally killed the stance of my truck.
  10. Sorry I didn't get the pictures today. I will have a lot more time after work tomorrow to do this. I am glad to hear you have had the opposite experience. Maybe Jordan18 and I should just Fluid Film our trucks and be done with it. I could also order a can now and spray a small area of the frame and then see how it is in a couple months from now.
  11. I can take pictures after work and get them posted later this evening. I have read to that oils, such as Fluid Film, will nearly take off the wax coating. I am not sure what to do with the frame. I will be spraying the underbody at least, as well as any surface which doesn't have the wax coating.
  12. Everytime I go to do a search on Google about Ziebart, I hear a lot of negative things and that an annual oil based coating is the better way to go. Good thing I have several months til the salt returns...
  13. Mine was built in April 2015 and I took delivery in May 2015. It's now just a few months later and that wax coating is falling off and I have rust spots in places. Obviously there hasn't been any salt in MI during the last few months... I think I am going to talk to Ziebart to figure out exactly how their process works and what their warranties are (if any?). This is messed up.
  14. Hmm, I thought I was still on the smaller side when choosing the 4" ovals lol. I do agree that your steps seem to offer more protection along the rockers. We'll see how these Deezees' hold up...
  15. I ended up just getting a full cab length step. Did the black deezee 4 inch ovals. It was around 185$ after the 15% off. I think these we will be easier and more functional than the hoop steps I originally asked about. If they get messed up ill just rattle can them with black paint lol. I'll get Amps in a couple years.
  16. That's a good poiint. Should have ponied up the cash for the stainless steel lines lol, I think that was an option anyway. One other observation, I mounted mine to the washer resivor area and have noticed due to the angle of the frame, the can is tilted a little bit. I do not think this will cause any issues, but can anyone confirm?
  17. Mine is now installed. I like the quality of the Elite setup. One thing I noticed is that the hose seems to kind of oval a little bit in certain spots. I think this is normal, I've read about it before. Is this ok?
  18. Mine arrived yesterday and I can't wait to install it this weekend.
  19. Do they just bolt on? Is drilling required for steps?
  20. Does anyone have experience with the "Side Steps"? I think that is the right term for them - they're just essentially big enough to place one foot on it seems. I really do not want to have a full cab length step until I can spend the money on AMP. In the meantime, I really need to get something for the passenger side because my girlfriend struggles to get in all the time and then always slides her butt off and down the side of the seat when she gets out. I can see the jeans + leather seat combo wearing my leather seat out in a hurry. Something that has crossed my mind though is that it may look a little goofy if I just did that one door, so I don't know if doing my driver door with one too would even it out, but then would I need to add 1 for each rear door too? I really just need it for her door and I don't think I'd really care if just 1 door had a step on it for the next several months, maybe a little longer. It definitley could look goofy, but at the end of the day I'm just trying to make her life easier, and prevent wear and tear on the passenger seat (in no particular order )
  21. Just ordered my Elite Catch Can.... Finally... lol. 1,200 miles, should be very minimal build up so far. I ordered the larger one after hearing mjj say it fills up pretty quick here in MI winters. Also got the Black AN fittings. Can't wait to get this installed and see what it's going to catch...
  22. Man I hear ya on that. I really want some BFG's AT's again, had them on my last truck. At the end of the day, this truck was really expensive and I just need to drive it as is for about a year or so as I refund my money specifically for truck mods. I must admit, I really am enjoying the economy with everything stock, as well as the quietness... Coming from a truck with Flowmaster 40, kn cai, level, BB Tune,,, I'm 23 years old, what's happening to me...
  23. Very, very satisfied with the MPG of my 6.2L. My daily commute is thru a few small cities/suburbs. Basically there is a stop light every mile, and then also there are 1/2 mile lights and sometimes even 1/4 mile lights :-( Anyway, I got 2 weeks ago I got 16.4MPG and then last week I got 16.2MPG. That's about over a ~140 total weekly trip. The DIC seems to consistently read .5MPG, so at least I can pretty well guess what I am actually getting. I am very satisfied with 16mpg+ for this truck. Coming from my porky 5.3L avvy that around 13 or so city, this is GREAT! I got 19.3MPG on a highway commute averaging 75MPH with A/C on, that was with about 300 miles on the truck, and I rolled into the throttle several times on the highway to put some load on the engine. I bet I can probably get 20, but am not expecting much higher than that unless I force myself to do like 70 or 72.
  24. I just measured the opening of the grill. Seems like it's 37 inches or so. It almost seems like you might as well get a 30 / 32 inch bar and save yourself the extra work of the 40 inch to get it to fit. Plus all the light on the 40 wouldn't be making it to the road (based on my quick measurement.) I could be wrong.
