  1. Mine was totally solved with the software update -no parts were replaced.
  2. I hadn't looked at this topic in a long time. When I bought my 2015 6.2 8A it had a huge 2-1 downshift bang. It had about 2k miles when I brought it to the dealer and they did some GMC software updates and the problem was resolved. I now have a little over 17k miles and had forgotten I had even had that problem! Hopefully those that continue to have 8A problems are able to get a dealer that stays updated and is able to resolve the problems. I think that this is a great truck!
  3. It was a beautifully cloudy Sunday, with about 6" of snow Saturday night, so I fired up the snow blower and when I was done I went for an awesome cruise ... backwards about 25' and sat in my car dreaming of spring
  4. I believe you're right on that one -but the Corvette in eco mode actually gets great fuel economy ...except I have never used eco mode . Since the heavier oil recommendation in the Corvette probably has to do with the "performance" stress, I wonder if it would make sense to use the 5W-30 in the GMC too and maybe give up a little gas mileage?
  5. I'm still in the free dealer oil change zone, so 0W-20 in my 6.2. One thing that I wondered is why my 2015 Corvette, with basically the same motor, uses 5W-30 and why it isn't the same in the truck 6.2?
  6. My 2015 Denali doesn't have it, but it is on my 15 Corvette and I have not had any problems -but it isn't driven in the winter or truck environments. On the Corvette, the spring loaded trap door has a perimeter gasket seal -does the Denali have the same seal? If so, it seems to shut pretty tight, which should keep the water and dirt out? But I guess if there is dirt on the outside of the flap, it could be pushed into the tank. Maybe just making a thin rubber flap that would cover the face of the filler trap door would help?
  7. I have to agree that it seems crappy that we have to pay for Navigation updates. But, I have to say that I have been very happy with the navigation in my GMC. The hands free option has worked great and is appreciated, since I always had to stop with my Garmin. I just bought the upgrade for my 2015 Corvette, which loads through the USB port. When I ordered it from Chevy, I told them that it sucked that I would have to buy one for my GMC of the same year etc. and he told me I could load it in the truck too. I am sure that he is wrong on that point, but I haven't tried it yet
  8. Spent a ton of time tracking down a vacuum leak that didn't really affect how my Z/28 ran, just a high frequency noise that was driving me nuts. Found and fixed -so now just driving it more! I just realized that Ryan's Camaro would fit in better with the rest of my vehicles -all black with black rims too!
  9. I agree that it is probably direct injector noise -I have a 2015 Corvette and it has the same sound as my GMC, but actually a little louder.
  10. As much as I'd like to, I didn't ask permission from him and don't want to have it come back on him. The difference may be that Chevrolet dealers that sell Corvettes are required to have a Corvette salesman and tech that get factory training on the car -so the rest of the techs would be working on anything that Chevrolet sells including the trucks and may not be as up to date on the DI engine concerns.
  11. I just wanted to share a dealer experience today. It's not my GMC 6.2, but I brought my 2015 Corvette Z51 in for the second oil change. At my dealer you can walk to a block 1/2 wall and watch the Corvette specialist work on your car. I was watching him open the hood and getting it ready to go up on the lift. A little later he said, "Good to see you have a Catch Can -I like the Elite". I told him that I had wanted to ask his opinion because there is so much on the internet on both the Corvette and the GM truck site regarding their value or not. He said he absolutely recommended them and started to describe what can happen if you don't have one, but stopped and said "hold on, come over to the bench". He pulled out a couple of really coked up valves and said, "this is what you prevent from happening". When I installed the Catch Can, it was because after hearing all of the Pros & Cons, it made sense to me, that it was worth the extra protection and added maintenance to take better care of the engine -so it was nice to have a Corvette specialist confirm, before I asked, that it is a good thing to do. This is just MY experience and opinion.
  12. I have 9,600 miles on my 2015 Denali CC 6.2 and I love the 8 speed. To be fair, I had to bring it in at about 1,500 miles because of a hard 2-1 downshift when coming to a stop. The dealer did some updates and it has been great since that time. When you step into it, I love the shift point increase and the nice crisp shifts.
  13. Looking great! Amazing how so many don't take the time to keep their vehicles nice.
  14. My 2015 Denali 6.2 A8 did this at about 1,200 miles. It actually got pretty loud just as it downshifted 2nd to 1st. The dealer did a recall/ reprogram and it has about 9,000 miles on it now and has never had the problem again.
  15. My first Camaro was a 71 SS350, with a wide ratio Muncie. It was Forest Green (dark)with a green cloth interior and wood trim around the gauges, shifter and on the doors as I recall. That one had hooker headers, a Holley 650 and Cragar SS rims
  16. Thanks! I actually have some, not all, of the original GM individual replacements if any get damaged.
  17. Thanks, I know -the 1st generation Camaro gets all the love.
  18. Pulled the Z51 and the Z28 out yesterday, dusted them off and went for rides. First was the Z28 and even after 37 years it is still a cool ride -not the fastest musclecar, but that 4 speed brings me back to the summer of 1979 Next was the Z51 and after one year it is still an awesome ride -it's a pretty fast muscle car and the 7 speed brings me back to the summer of 2015
  19. I believe that is what l paid and it included the catch can and clean air separator. I'm not sure about the dual scape for a blower. I bought the same system, at the same time for my 2015 Corvette Z51 and it had the dual lines -but I believe it is because of the dry sump. I'm sure the engineer at Elite can answer that one!
  20. I put on my full Elite system at about 4.5k miles and have put about 1k miles on it, including two drives of about 6 hours at 70+MPH in temperatures in the single digits. When I emptied it for the first time, the Catch can had maybe an inch of crud that I poured out in a glass bowl -not a pretty sight! My darn phone pictures turn the shots -the first is looking in the can, the second is looking at the side of the glass bowl and the last is looking up though the bottom of the bowl.
  21. I hadn't thought about it, but would have gone with a manual if it had been available. I am in the 2015 Corvette Z51 minority that went with the 7M and love it. Driving around town I just use 1-4, but the upper gears are great on the highway to get 29mpg.
  22. I had the same thing in my 2015 Denali 6.2 A8. Not sure, but you probably have an A6, so it may not be the same, but it was exactly the same downshift 2nd to 1st. -it would slam from 2nd down to 1st pretty much every time I slowed down and it was real loud. It took my dealers service department almost a week, but they fixed it and it is perfect. The tech at the dealer (Bill Rapp GMC, Tech Casey Jones)was not sending the Denali back until he was satisfied with it -man am I satisfied! This transmission downshifts smooth as silk through all the gears ... and still goes though the gears like stink when I mash the pedal! He did the following: 1) UPDATED TCM SOFTWARE, PERFORMED FAST LEARN ADAPTS AND ABBREVIATED COAST ADAPTIVE DOWNSHIFT ROUTINE AND VERIFIED REPAIR. 2) RECALL 15304 PROGRAMMED TRANSFER CASE SHIFT CONTROL MODULE. Prevents 4wd always engages when cold. 3) RECALL 15396 REPLACED TRANS INTERNAL HARNESS WITH INTEGRAL TFT SENSOR. Prevents harsh shift when starting in cold temperatures.
  23. Just picked mine up last Thursday. It's black, black and black. 6.2 8spd -love this truck!
