  1. Come on over to my house, I have 4 full size spare tires that we were going to use for burnouts. Same size and brand. At what speed does the vibration begin and end? Bouncing over bumps is normal when the truck is unloaded. These trucks are built to tow and ride better with a load on, they are designed that way.
  2. Also check out GMPartsGiant with your VIN or configuration.
  3. I swore off small cars decades ago because all of my family members, including myself, have been seriously injured in them. The big truck will protect you from others and your own foolishness. Those Rangers were cool in their day but are old now and take a lot to keep running. Stick with your GM full-size truck, an 800 or 900 or even a K2. You've gotten some great advice from the men here, take it in and heed it. If you want something unique, consider an Avalanche like Stan has. What do you think of that orange pickup?
  4. My daughter backed into a tree and the whole bumper had to be replaced, a tail light and the entire side of the box had the skin replaced and of course painted. Cost about $4800.
  5. My children are into the local truck scene and they tell me that the boys who buy diesels rag on them hard and dump them at the first sign of trouble because they don't earn enough money to properly care for them, well, they had no money left over after spending a couple grand on wheels, tires and a tune and a trip to Daytona Beach to roll coal. See that orange truck up there? Lawrence "LT" Tolman built this on his youtube channel. It's a 4.8 truck converted to full time AWD and is supercharged. This kind of truck would be pretty reliable, cheap on gas and insurance and allow you to maybe turn it into a sleeper like LT did as you learn to turn wrenches and not break the bank.
  6. The dirtymax is much more expensive to acquire and maintain. The 4.3 V6 and 4.8 V8 will be less costly to insure than the 5.3s and 6.0s in that generation. Insurance for the diesel may be less than insuring a 5.3 or 6.0. If budget allows, pay more for a clean, well-maintained truck than less for one needing lots of work. If money is no object I'd suggest to you a 2012-2013 6.2 equipped pickup!
  7. That camshaft is going to shift your powerband way up there, losing tons of torque down low. What size turbocharger are you going to use?
  8. I also use an excel spreadsheet. One tab is to list parts with cross reference numbers. Another tab is a log of sorts that lists what work has been and what parts were purchased for it and when they were later installed. Another tab for a tire rotation log, another for an oil change log and so on. Also have an "aging" sheet that shows how old parts are like replacement hubs, transmission fluid, etc.
  9. Is this a thing up north? Never had this issue down here in Florida. Been using Lucas Red-N-Tacky in their grease gun for 6 years now without issue.
  10. Lots of folks on this and other forums have purchased from Laura and I cannot recall a bad experience or review. Mine own experience was favorable, they were responsive to my emails and sent photos of every view asked for though I ultimately selected another vehicle. Fly in and drive it home, take a kid or two if you have them, memories for a lifetime.
  11. Well, it's made for low traction or unpredictable situations like you guys encounter up north in winter or the rains down here in the south.
  12. After all that you'll want 37s! What motor and gear does it have? Here's my daughter's 2012 with a Zone 6.5 lift running 35s. It has a 6.2 with 3.73s for now.
  13. What year is it? I wonder if it's described better in the Upfitter Manuals?
  14. TFL doesn't use the cruise control while running the test downhill.
  15. Just like the other forum, what are the codes?
  16. Depends on the options. Their GVWR is 7300 for a 4x4 CC NHT, a regular 4x4 CC would be 7000. That would put payload somewhere in the 1300-1500 range depending on options. See if you can a dealer with one on their lot to send you pics of the door stickers.
  17. Great idea! But we hit it with the orbital sander and stones and it's almost ready for seasoning.
  18. Yeah, you'll handle that easy on short runs. There are guys on here that tow 60 foot boats to the marina from the ramp with Escalades. Relatively short runs, under 50 miles, on flat land down here in Florida.
  19. I stand corrected, thanks! What's her payload and tow ratings?
  20. My mother gave us hers when she moved. It rusted and I have to clean it up so we can use it. Looking forward to some big flap jacks!
  21. Well, you could have them re-arched or just get some new NHT spring packs from Dayton. You'll have to determine which is better cost wise. The springs packs are about $350+ each now. On our 6.5" lifted NHT, the spring packs have an extra leaf added so the rear is still higher than the front even with the lift, making it 4 leafs plus one now.
  22. If I was in your shoes I'd stick with a 1500 and get a 6.2 and maybe the longer bed. The NHT is not offered with the longer bed but in reality you don't need it for what you are doing. Just make sure that it is set up for maximum towing.
  23. You cannot easily or inexpensively work on these trucks without a bi-directional scan tool. Get a Tech-2 and a subscription to the shop manual at AllDataDIY. Seems to me that you're battery is about dead or not getting charged up. Lots of short trips will drain the battery if you don't drive it very far when running.
  24. Ranchos are good shocks. GM tunes the suspensions to ride best with a load on, not empty.
  25. What about getting the bumpers to match/line up again?
