  1. Is this a RWD unit? If so, there's not supposed to be a seal installed in there on those. The drawing in the shop manual shows a seal remover without the shaft and the seal driver without it as well.
  2. Put another one in our stable yesterday! 6.2 All-Terrain with SLT.
  3. Yes, it really depends on what year, condition and mileage of your truck is to determine its value. I would not let the insurance company total it, I would have it repaired regardless. Up for a trip to Chicago?
  4. My first thought upon reading this is that there is a pending code. Is the CEL lit up?
  5. Not really. Not without a ton of work and possibly decreasing your towing ability if you were to extend or section the frame at the back to accommodate the extra length. Or you could change out the cab!
  6. Dexos1 Gen2 is fully synthetic oil. It is normal for the oil pressure to drop during an oil change interval. Some filters are also more restrictive and drop oil pressure. I quit running Mobil One years ago as my motor would rattle on start up. Switched to ACDelco oil and no more rattles. M1 EP filter dropped my oil pressure 2-3 psi. K&N filter with 1" nut on the end shows no loss of oil pressure.
  7. Seems like the pins are not moving like they should. When were they last rebuilt?
  8. That's a good price but is it worth it for you to do it yourself? Do you have necessary tools?
  9. What's the matter? Anytime an AFM repair is done, it is SOP to replace the lifter trays and VLOM as it is the VLOMs solenoids that get out of time and wreck the lifters usually. Only use GM OE parts, the Chicoms are selling lifter trays that fail within a few dozen miles causing the lifters to spin which take out the camshafts and worse.
  10. It'll tow it, even modded. 4.10 gears will make up for the taller tire and smaller engine won't have to work so hard anymore.
  11. Read up on how a variable displacement oil pump works.
  12. Well, when you are ready to get serious and solve these issues, get a Tech-2 so you can work on this thing. Use it along with the troubleshooting guide from the shop manual, like AllDataDIY to find out what is causing the electrical gremlins, might be time for a new BCM. You can also use to test out the AFM system, probably need a new lifter or two on number 7 or possibly pushrods or valve springs.
  13. We have to disable the adjuster before messing with the shoes, then enable it and set/release it 3 times to set it. The clearance between the drum and shoe is supposed to be set at ..026 inches. The hole for the lockout pin is on the side, you have to lift up the parking brake lever to access the internal part to slide the screwdriver/lockout pin into it.
  14. How old is the battery? More than 4 years? Do you have an advanced, bi-directional scan tool?
  15. They'll squeal from lack of use when rust forms. Drive the truck.
  16. His dad made a comment in one video that he wasn't sure why Trent took off work with a little arm injury. Richard goes to work no matter what, Trent is not like that it seems.
  17. Richard at Precision Transmissions shows you what parts he uses in his videos. Trans-Go and Sonnax make some excellent parts. The youtube site has been renamed because of a rift between son and father: https://www.youtube.com/c/PrecisionTransmission/videos
  18. Don't downgrade your truck. Those LTs are probably Load Range C anyway.
  19. Turn in your man card please. This line of reasoning is why the west is collapsing rapidly before our eyes to tyranny. Guess that lady ought to have moved her house for Anne Heche.
  20. I only move for them two times. If they're not going to use their cruise control, my consideration towards them becomes quite limited!
  21. I always flash the big rigs after they pass me like we used to do 30+ years ago. Very few flip the lights on and off in thanks anymore.
  22. Yes, in the context that the guy going 55 is passing a guy going 50. This happens frequently and I have no charity towards the lawless speeder who is not horse smart enough to see that the 55 guy is about to pass the 50 guy and fails to speed up or slow down so nobody inconveniences anybody. My response was directed more towards this comment: "...and the 5+under crowd that cause more disturbances in traffic flow"
  23. In America, it's supposed to be the unlawful who are in the wrong. We used to be a nation of laws and not mob rule as you are proposing. I have sometimes been that guy driving the speed limit or under in an unfamiliar area and I'm not hazarding my charges by pulling over so the impatient can get to their destinations 5 seconds sooner. Folks need to exercise some patience and charity.
  24. I was thinking about this post on a 200 mile run on Sunday. Running the speed limit was too fast for traffic, the speeders kept bunching up against the law abiding citizens. I throttled back to 62 to 66 and didn't have to back down much. The general feeling on threads such as this as it is the law abiding drivers that are in the wrong for driving the speed limit or slower. Well, as I get older I'm driving slower. As we passed into Broward County (where I was born and grew up) it was like entering the twilight zone with all the selfish and crazy drivers on the road. It was pouring rain and the little cars were still bobbing and weaving and even cut us off from entering one of those express lanes. Crashes were common. Some dove into puddles at speed and were rewarded with flapping bumper covers front and rear. I throttled back even more until we were bumper to bumper for a time before we arrived at our first destination in Fort Lauderdale.
