  1. like most automotive connectors, you need to depress a tab on one side and pull your going to have to get in a bit closer and look
  2. that is the FCA (Forward Collision Alert) light module you can unplug it to remove the cluster __If you add the HUD, it would replace this device entirely
  3. Not all vehicles require custom mods... i was able to purchase all the correct parts and install them (2105 suburban)
  4. I did and am not aware of anyone who has not.
  5. I got my Instrument Cluster at Specmo it was $440 delivered Disclaimer...[since I am not a dealer and the cluster was not an exact replacement, the warranty was not valid - but I didn't/don't care, it worked as expected] The instrument cluster upgrade is awesome, adding the HUD made it more better
  6. not sure - perhaps someone else may see your post and provide that answer
  7. if you look at those lists - you will see that for each year/model listed, there were several part numbers and the ones in bold are the most recent for that group. Also, if you read through this thread - you will find the dealers won't sell you a cluster - but there are a couple sources that will White Audio and Media will get back to you, their office is is closed for a few days - must be patient.
  8. you will need to review page 29 of this thread to find the correct part number for your vehicle. it is also very strongly suggested that you take some time and read through this entire thread, 95% of your question's will be answered.
  9. the only way to obtain CarPlay and keep the factory nav was to replace both the modules (radio and nav modules) - - what you saw in my post was the meat of my receipt - if you know a cheaper way - I'd say go for it
  10. when I went through this process, this is what I had to purchase to accommodate the desired blue/green cluster... yes, $1200 plus shipping was spendy, but it enabled me to: keep the factory nav - which which work with both the cluster and HUD also - I really wanted CarPlay AND - I wanted the CarPlay to work with my steering wheel controls Product Quantity Price 2014 - 2016 Chevrolet CarPlay / Android Auto Enabled Factory System Programming Options - Last 8 of Vehicle's Vin Number: (your vin here) Please Select CarPlay System Needed ($300.00): I06 CarPlay/Android Auto- WITH Factory NAV Please Select: I understand that if I'm purchasing the I05 CarPlay for a 2016 Vehicle, MVI will require the old module back as a core. MVI will email a core form to me before the product will ship. If not purchasing for a 2016 vehicle, No core form will be required Please Select: I understand professional installation is recommended and MVI only allows up to 15 minutes of installation support. As a custom business MVI is not able to provide on demand tech support. Tech support will need to be scheduled via text message (more info below). I have also read MVI’s Terms and Conditions and agree to these terms. 1 $1,199.00" My suggestion is you go to White Auto's website and contact Chris through that channel. confirm the above is required, and the part number to your cluster
  11. my 2015 was manufactured/sold in 2014? Blue Denali Cluster was installed and working great
  12. I have a 2015 Suburban LTZ and I replaced it with a blue cluster 84254166 "2016 GAS US SPEC - DENALI STYLE LARGE DISPLAY BLUE/GREEN LIGHTING FOR CHEVY (SILVERADO/TAHOE/SUBURBAN ETC)"
  13. Another VERY Satisfied customer! With the help from this forum/thread I am now the proud owner of a GM. Chevy Suburban LTZ/D The final part was received today, and 2 hrs later - I have HUD with a Denali Cluster installed and operational Special Thanks to: Chris [GTPprix] for all you have done to help guid us to the correct Clusters for our applications as well as the programming magic you do so well Thanks cmatt for sharing your adventure and advice - thanks to you I was able to find and order the correct parts the first time (color/finish) Thanks to pgamboa for the well made wire harness at less than 1/2 the cost of the dealership price
  14. thanks matt (and again thanks Chris) Perhaps its OCD or something worse, but having so many different answers, I could not help myself and stopped at a different dealer (other than the one that said a calibration was required) and talked with the service manager regarding windshield calibrations for my vehicle for peace of mind.... He stated that GM did in-fact release a TSB recommending calibrations be performed on ALL windshield replacements, HOWVER, if the installer were to (road) test the vehicle after the replacement and found the ADAS (Advance Driver Assistance Systems) to operating properly, then no calibration would be necessary. He said that with my vehicle, it would likely be OK, but if I felt the LDW was not responding correctly (miss-aligned), to bring it in and he could calibrate if for $125-$150 (don't recall exactly).
  15. Thanks Chris! that will save me $300 the stealership was going to take from me for calibration That will be the final step after the HUD installation is complete! I have all my parts (except cluster - which was delivered to your shop for programming last week) Chris - may I ask... are there any features (or options) that can be enabled or added to the cluster functionality besides the HUD feature, like the offload axis info, or anything else? - in my case - I did purchase and install MVI's radio and nav with CarPlay already so the CarPlay steering wheel functions can be enabled (per your direction/guidance), my LTZ has forward collision alert and LDA
  16. finding someone (I would trust) to replace the windshield is becoming more of a challenge than I thought when I say I want to replace my existing windshield with a GM HUD compatible windshield - the estimater go into stutter mode. After the fog clears, I get different responses to my quote request So far: I have had a dealer quote me about $975 which includes 'calibration' I have had a dealership owned autoglass franchise claim the GM's do not require calibration as they calibrate themselves I have had an independent shop tell me if they do not unplug the forward camera or mirror, then no calibration is required Anyone out there have words of advice
  17. THANK YOU!!!
  18. Does anyone have a PART NUMBER (GM or GMC) for the proper HUD windshield I would need for my 2015 Suburban LTZ?????-it has lane keep assist and I am adding HUD (obviously). I really prefer OEM and not Safelite or any of that other aftermarket crap glass. I'm in it this far, I want it done right! But I have tried a GMC dealer and A Chevy Dealer and neither one can seem to determine which windshield I need, they both kept mumbling that my 2015 Suburban does not come with HUD - [NO SCHMIDT KNUCKHEADS ~ THIS IS WWY 'IM DOING THE FREEKING MOD ]
  19. Disclaimer - I'm not an "auto body repair', nor do I play one on TV. When I replaced my shark fin antenna, my dealer service advisor printed out a copy of the replacement procedure for that, and it called for 3M Flexiclear Body Seam Sealer 08504 (in my case...available though Grainger). "Excellent for Exterior Automotive Sealing 3M™ Flexiclear™ Body Seam Sealer is a caulkable exterior sealer which adheres to surfaces such as primed and painted metal, glass and aluminum. Our sealer dries clear and resists yellowing for a clean, low profile appearance. It uses a standard "caulk" style dispensing system. It's fast drying and ready for painting in approximately 45 minutes." Most Silicone's are generic, and fail over time (for several reasons) Personally, I have too much invested in my ride to go the cheap route, especially for a roof mounted device that could potentially leak. I used the recommended 3M Seam Sealer and have had NO issues, my truck goes through a car wash weekly (sometimes more).
  20. I realize this is an oder post, my shark fin had failed. Not hard to replace, just make sure you use the correct adhesive (NOT Silicone) to seal the mounting surface.
  21. Having the HUD enabled is the reason I am doing the upgrade..as I had referenced in my post. I'm very excited about this. I was just asking to see if there are other features I can get enabled. Victorrocks15...great looking rig, love the blacked putt look ... is that a 'HUD' compatible windshield? Viktorrocks15
  22. Guys, take heed, I ordered my cluster from GM Parts direct and the order was rejected 2 days later, they claimed dealer only part. then i ordered from GM parts giant, after 2 days and no confirming email, (just a paypal hold), I was able to track their phone number down via the BBB web site, called them, they claimed they emailed and there was a price increase (verified they had correct email spelling and yet I found no such emails in spam folder or inbox), regardless, canceled over phone and still not seeing cancellation email, beware... Meanwhile, had enough...ordered my cluster from specmo, price was very good. only caveat, no warranty if no core exchange and not being sent to dealer for programming, I’m good with that ? Will send it to Chris for hud programming. Anyone have a list of options (like off road info) that can be enabled beyond what’s already part of vin/installed options?
  23. http://gmauthority.com/blog/2014/11/gms-lane-departure-warning-and-lane-keep-assist-tech-feature-spotlight Other than activating or deactivating by pressing the Lane Keep Assist button on the left side of the interment panel and some software changes, I don't know what other hardware is used. (was hoping it was just software, but I guess that's not the case)
  24. shucks....Since the steering is Electronically controlled )even on the 2015's), Thought it was a software enhancement Edit... I just looked at the parts lists between the 2015 LTZ, 2016 LTZ and 217 Premier, and other than color options, I found no additional parts, nor different part numbers (controller, steering column, steering wheel, steering motor, wire harness, nothing in the steering section...possible windshield mounted camera upgrade and 'trac switch' to left of steering wheel Perhaps it is just a software enhancement utilizing the electric powered steering. For anyone interested...here is a decent article explaining how LKA works https://www.knowyourparts.com/technical-resources/electrical/electronic-power-steering/
