  1. On my way home from work yesterday my truck started to vibrate on the highway from what seemed like my right front wheel. Then upon slowing down my steering wheel turned full on to the right by itself. There was also the smell of burnt rubber. I think it's the Brake Calipher. Any suggestions before this broke college kid shells out money for a diagnosis?
  2. Hi guys, new here! I have done a lot of research trying find a TPMS reset tool that will actually work with the thicker mud tires. I bought one from Amazon, the JDiag model, which works fine on a friends 15' Silverado, but I can't get it to work on my 14' Sierra. The only thing I think is keeping it from working is the fact I have the BFG AT KO2's which are a much beefier tire. Has anyone had any luck resetting their sensors with this type of tire, or any other heavy duty tires like on the 2500/3500's? If you did, which reset tool did you use. I see a lot of people saying they can't reset their sensors, but now I wonder if the thicker tires is what's keeping us from doing so?
  3. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 3-7-2018 Chevy showed off its medium-duty Class 4, 5 and 6 chassis cab trucks this week at the Indianapolis Work Truck Show. The 2019 Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD will be available with 2WD or 4WD and will be powered by a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine with 350 horsepower and 700 lb.-ft. of torque and Allison transmissions. Power Take Off (PTO) is optional. “Chevy’s designers and engineers were obsessed with making this Silverado the most customer-focused medium duty truck of any major competitor,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, GM Fleet. “By customer-focused, I mean work-ready trucks that are easy to upfit, easy to drive, easy to service and easy to own.” For the new trucks, Chevy says it focused on addressing real-world issues owners and operators were looking for the company to address. The frame was one area of focus. Chevy addressed fuel line interference issues by putting the lines through the rails. The rivets and brackets were also eliminated from the top of the frame, making the frame rails one-piece and smooth. Corrosion was addressed by having the frames prepped and finished at the factory. Service techs had complained they needed ladders to get up to and under the hood to work on the trucks. So Chevy has redesigned the way the hood opens. Now it is a tip-forward clamshell. In response to visibility and maneuverability issues, Chevy has increased the wheel cut to reduce turning radii, and contoured the hood for better corner visibility. To help eliminate fueling issues, Chevy moved the DEF filler to the opposite side of the truck. “It’s not just numbers on a spec sheet that make us different and better,” said John Schwegman, director of Commercial Product and Medium Duty at GM Fleet. “These new Silverados are designed to solve the most common upfit and ownership challenges fleets have with many of today’s medium-duty trucks.” GM Fleet delivered nearly 300,000 units to Commercial and Government customers in 2017 – the most since 2008 – and gained meaningful market share. GM's order guides will be available in the coming few months and pricing will be announced by summer. Look for the new Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD trucks in late 2018 at commercially-focused Chevrolet dealers.

  6. CASH TALKS! TEXT ME OR CALL 406-690-537I TO DISCUSS, TEXT PREFERRED AS I WORK OUT OF CELL SERVICE OFTEN. Selling my beloved 2007 GMC Duramax Diesel, last year of the best of the LBZ model code. No emissions from the factory to deal with, and considered to be the best model of duramax ever made. This is a very clean truck, I looked long and hard to find this, and it is my 3rd lbz GM truck. No leaks no drips no check engine lights nothing. Ready for anything and will last forever, I see these trucks on the forums over a half million miles getting beat on daily and running forever, this has been babied. Yes I am asking over book and considering offers, please realize this truck has had a lot more than the average truck has had put into it. Really like buying a brand new truck with everything completely done. Truck is awesome all around. The front seats are showing light wear but no rips, rears and rest of interior looks like new. A couple light paint chips on the front bumper, and I have all factory touch up paints. That's it for imperfections. THIS TRUCK IS CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. I hate selling, however this truck is such a garage queen it makes it hard for me to justify keeping. I started a new position shortly after purchasing the truck and have a work vehicle I use the marjority of the time. The truck is only used for weekend soccer interstate trips etc. I am the 3rd owner, first was in california and second was in billings and was an oil worker, and it was a garage queen its life. I purchased the truck and did extensive upgrades and reliability modifications to make it the perfect truck in my eyes. I have spent thousands in upgrades and countless hours and extensive labor charges to get the truck to where it is today. This will make someone a reliable powerful vehicle for many years to come with everything done. Always ran premium diesel and Stanadyne with every fillup. Truck is fully loaded slt model, every available option except leaking sunroof. Bose stereo, power heated leather etc etc. I will do my best to list everything I can think of about the truck. I am sure I will miss much as so much has been done it is hard to even remember it all. Everything was done with reliability in mind first, and performance second. I have most of the stock parts as well that have been removed. Upgrades and performance modifications... Allison deep transmission pan and new gasket with all new filters. Transgo jr shift kit. Fleece all on module Duramax store transmission cooler line kit upgrade (replaces notorious oem leaking lines) Professionally installed rough country 3" lift kit, including new steering stabilizer, 4 new shocks, new rear block, new upper control arms with better angle for ball joint lift, new torsion keys. Also did new pitman and idler arm at this time and full alignment. 16" XD wheels with 33" Cooper AT3 tires, maybe 5k miles on tires. SDP PCV reroute kit AFE Series 2 intake with afe pre filter 4" MBRP mufflered exhaust with black tip. 3" MBRP downpipe MBRP uppipe Sinister EGR delete kit Edge Insight Gauge Monitor with egt into passenger side exhaust header. Gauge is mounted in dash pod and professionally wired. Airdog 165 lift pump Capped resonator Fleece headlight modification (allows fogs brights lows driving to all be on simultaneously) Full window tint with vent visors. 2 sets of weathertech floor mats, one still new in box. Trailer brake Snugtop Topper color matched and fitted for the truck, matches the lines perfect. 5th wheel rails in bed GMC Gatorback heavy duty mudflaps Lund chrome nerf bars Blacked out led taillights EFI LIVE by Idaho rob at atp in Idaho, comes with efi live tuner. If you are not familiar with efi live tuning take some time to read up on google, it is amazing what it does for these trucks and Idaho Rob is considered among the best tuners in the business. Truck was tuned after all modifications were completed and comes with 5 tunes that are able to be shifted on the fly with the dsp 5 switch mounted in the cigarette lighter spot and is tuned for the transmission with shift kit. Tunes range from optimized stock, tow tune with turbo tow brake, 90hp eco, 120 street, and 150 hot race, and are changeable simply by turning the switch from positions 1 through 5. I have used the tow tune and the eco tune primarily, as I get older I enjoy cruising more than speeding. The truck does have the ability to really pull however in the higher tunes. Very clean tuning with almost no smoke except in tune 5 where it will smoke a little when getting after it. Truck has not been rodded, adult owned and driven always. Maintenance items completed... All completed within the last 6 months. Repeat drain and fills of both differentials with 500k mile synthetic delo dif fluid. Repeat drain and fill of transmission and allison filters using only transynd fluid. (Internal filter also change with the deep pan addition.) New oem gm radiator hoses and coolant filled drained and filled multiple times. Hyperlube racing coolant additive added on last fillup. New oem thermostats Brake fluid flushed twice, filled with Valvoline synthetic brake fluid. Power steering flushed twice, filled with blue line synthetic power steering fluid. Midas full alignment after lift kit installation. 4 wheel tire balance. Full midas inspection showing everything in the good green category. New intermediate dorman problem solver steering shaft and bearing kit (fixes notorious oem clunking steering problem) New spicer lifetime greasable ujoints All zerks repeatedly greased with lucas red and tacky Recharged air conditioning. Turbo Vane cleaning done. Synthetic oils and oem filters, oem airdog liftpump filters. Truck is ready to go. Title in hand, lien through local bank which my wife works at and all title work can be done at bank on day of sale. I may consider delivery for a fee, depending on how far etc. I may consider a partial trade on a cheaper vehicle (under 5kish) with your cash offer. Would need to know all vehicle details. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY PLEASE!!! I am working huge hours right now and don't have time for tire kickers. Vin available upon request. Truck is located in billings montana and can be viewed at almost any time. I will try to get more pictures up of the truck as time allows. First picture is current with topper, other pic just to show how it looks without topper.

This is my 2nd GMC truck...Unfortunately I had my 2009 Sierra 1500 stolen But thankfully insurance pulled through and took care of me! Well after much research and weighing my options...I decided to step into the Diesel world! I tow a Toy hauler so I knew I wanted something that can handle towing what I currently have and that could handle whatever I upgraded to in the future!!! I ended up getting a 2016 Denali HD and I am in love with it! I know this is the perfect place for recommendations and help so if any of you guys out there could help me out with any valuable info I need to be aware on and also maybe some recommendations on any after market things that I can do to it that would be much appreciated! I look forward to reading and seeing all the cool things on this forum! Thanks!!!!
  11. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 3-7-2017 2016 Silverado HD owners continue to struggle with steering issues despite a Chevy TSB now on version "D." This is not news to many GM-Trucks.com members who have reported the issue in our forums. The TSB, #PIT5501, covers the general topic, "Steering Feels Loose / Excessive Lash / Fluid Leak At Lash Adjuster." Owners have reported that the fix does not seem to stick. A recent detailed overview by Mary Conway at Torque News, laid out the many woes customers are reporting widely on multiple forums. As the video below shows, the problem may not be limited to just GM's Silverado, but also the GMC Sierra & Denali, which of course has a lot of shared components. If this is a problem you had and have resolved long-term, we'd like to know about it in the comments section below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSTu50h63No

  13. Zane Merva Executive Editor, GM-Trucks.com 11/1/2016 You might have heard that Chevy and Carhartt have recently teamed up to develop a Concept Silverado HD. If you're at this year's 2016 SEMA show, you'll be able to see this fine piece of work yourself. If you're not one of the lucky enthusiasts that made it to Las Vegas this year, don't sweat it. We've got you covered. This morning I traveled to the Chevrolet Performance booth and took a look at the concept in person. To be perfectly honest, I didn't understand what the big deal with this Concept Silverado was until I gazed at it with my own eyes. The press photos that have been floating around didn't point out the small touches that the brand applied to this concept. In short, the Silverado HD Carhartt is classic, smooth, and a damn fine Chevy. If you get a chance to see the Carhartt Silverado in person in the future, you won't be disappointed. Until then, enjoy these photos from the 2016 SEMA Show. And if you want more info on this Concept Truck, check out the full details right here.
  14. Will 2016 Sierra HD CC running boards fit my 2016 Sierra 1500 CC? This may have been answered but I can't seem to find it.
  15. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 10-25-2016 Chevrolet's new Silverado HD concept ties its working roots to the Carhartt brand of work clothes. We'll set aside the quotes that Chevy created to tie in the two brands, but we will let you in on what the concept adds for equipment. Here's the list of modifications and additions: -Trailering mirrors with camera system -Black bowtie emblems -All-weather floor liners -Assist steps -Perimeter bed lighting -Bed-mounted toolbox and swing-out tool chest (associated accessories) -20-inch LED light bar -Electrical outlets in the bed -Antique nickel accents on the grille, mirror caps, tow rings and 20-inch aluminum wheels -Carhartt gold pinstripe graphics So what say you GM-trucks.com faithful? Is this a great marketing idea and a truck you'd drive or a weird tie-in between a clothing brand and a work truck?
  16. Mithardy75's HD build

Hey everyone, I am new to this build thread deal but I have had some people tell me that buying a beat up 15 year old truck was a waste of time and money and this will chronicle them being wrong. So I guess to start and make a long story short I was a die hard F#rd fan, sorry didn't mean to curse I know this is a family page, and where I live in Michigan you mainly see GMC and Dodge. A good friend of mine was helping me do some work one day and we had to use his truck because mine was down for the 100th time. And after spending a day in his truck I started looking and eventually bought a 99 GMC sierra 1500. I loved that truck and spent many hours and dollars making it my own but in the end it is only a 1500. So my fiancé and I talked and we started looking for a 2500HD. After a few months we found a 2002 crew cab SB that has spent almost all of it life in the UP. As you can tell I have a thing for buying old vehicles and making them mine. I would rather spend $3500 on a truck and put $6000 into it than buy a $10,000 truck. Oh and all the while this truck will be my daily driver. So here is goes.....

  18. Zane Merva Executive Editor, GM-Trucks.com 8/18/2016 GM-Trucks.com can exclusively bring to you the first solid numbers that may confirm the updated towing capacity of the 2017 Silverado HD when equipped with the all new L5P Duramax Diesel Engine. We've seen an early draft of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado HD's towing specifications from internal General Motors documents. Here's what we think we know. PLEASE NOTE: These figures are not guaranteed to be accurate, final, or even representative of any production model. We can only confirm that they come from an internal source. We have omitted some numbers to obscure the source. A lack of a specific engine/cab/rating combination does not mean it will not be available. All ratings are for the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD when equipped with the L5P 6.6L Duramax Diesel. The only axle ratio available with the Duramax will be 3.73. 19. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 6/1/2016 GM released a one-sentence press release today to tease GM Sierra Denali HD buyers. Saying only that the "Hood scoop is functional," GMC is asking fans to guess what will be under the hood? What say you GM-Trucks members?
  20. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 6/3/2016 Chevrolet let the cat out of the bag today regarding GMC's "mystery hood scoop." The HD trucks are getting a new air intake that GM says will enable cooler air to enter the diesel engine. Cooler air is more dense, and thus offers slightly better power as part of the combustion process. Interestingly, the scoop is not the only intake. Rather, GM uses that to introduce about 60% of the air to the engine and also uses another intake that draws dryer air from an area near a front fender. GM says that this combination is the best becasue even if the front intake is blocked the engine gets air. Translation: "We couldn't draw enough from just the front." The new air intake system was designed by GM to handle "...towing a maximum-weight trailer through the Eisenhower Tunnel on a hot, rainy summer day.” Demonstrating the wet-weather testing, GM offered the above image. GM explained how it rids the intake air of water, saying "The air charge enters an expansion chamber containing a sharp, 180-degree turn on its way to the air filter housing. That creates a velocity change that causes humidity or mist to form larger, heavier droplets that are flung centrifugally against the outside wall of the housing. The collected water drains through a valve, while the air charge continues on to the filter housing and into the engine." GM went on to explain that big heavy raindrops are the easy part. It is the mist from tractor trailers on wet roads that is the hardest to purge.
  21. The all new $999 option came about through a partnership with Echomaster and includes up to four additional cameras that can help a driver keep tabs on his load and trailer while hauling. The system works with and is completely integrated with the factory MyLink infotainment system. Two cameras, one under each rear view mirror and an optional fourth camera that can be wired up to a trailer. Later this summer, the package will include a camera located in the 3rd high-mounted brake light so customers can check on stored bed cargo or easily hookup a fifth-wheel hitch. Any of the four-camera views can be checked on at anytime by long-pressing the home button for more than 5-seconds. The factory backup camera still automatically turns on when the pickup is placed in reverse. The multi-camera system also joins a new factory installed fifth-wheel prep package for 2016 Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD. The prep package will cost $350 and includes a frame-mounted hitch platform and tray and 7-pin wiring in the bed. An optional CURT fifth-wheel hitch is available through dealers. Zane Merva Executive Editor, GM-Trucks.com 3/16/16 Chevrolet has announced an all new optional and retrofittable camera system for the 2014 through 2016 Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 that are equipped with factory trailer-towing mirrors. A 20,000lb hitch will cost $939 while a 25,000lb hitch will run $999.
  23. Up for sale is a brand new 2015 Silverado HD High Country grille. I ordered it thinking to put it on my truck but had a change of mind so my loss is your gain. Retail on this sucker is $695, I paid $600, looking to get $400 shipped (yes shipped) for it. Will edit this with pics shortly...
  24. A rodeo star is not going to roll up to the event parking lot in a Prius. Anything but a truck is going to cast doubts. So Chevy's new advertisement makes sense. What do you think? Will seeing rough and tumble cowboys and cowgirls in and around the Silverado HD help sales (which are through the roof anyway)?
  25. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 10/6/2015 Certain themes just work for advertisers. Put a handsome, athletic guy in a vehicle and have him say a few words and watch the sales roll in. Buick used Peyton Manning to push the Verano. Lincoln uses Matthew McConaughey to push crossovers. The problem some might have is the believability of these multi-million dollar stars driving those vehicles in real life. Chevy won't have that problem with this new "Chevy Rodeo" advertising. The plan is to use real-life rodeo stars to promote the Chevy Silverado HD.
