  1. My father just purchased a '24 3500HD and wants to install his LED tailgate light bar from his old truck. I know you can't just tap into the trailer wiring like the old trucks (because the truck "senses" when a trailer is plugged in and then powers the circuits). I tried to order a harness online that taps into the tail light wiring harness, but the connectors are for a 6-pin plug and the '24 trucks have a 12-pin plug. Does anyone know if there is a harness out there yet for these trucks? I'm definitely not going to splice into the factory tail light harnesses just for this light bar. I told him he'd have to wait until someone comes out with one. Thanks!
  2. I have installed a set of strobe lights on my 2014 Silverado on front and back for when I'm out plowing snow in the winter with my side by side. The strobes I bought have 2 supply circuits so you can control 2 different lighting patterns. I have the first flash pattern set and wired up to a switch in my dash. My question, does anyone know if there is a dedicated circuit for the hazard lights on our trucks? I want to be able to use the second circuit on the strobes when I have my hazards on. I know I could tap into the turn signal circuit but I don't want to have them on when I have my turn signals on, only hazards. I've browsed over the GM Upfitter manual but I feel like I could look at that thing for days before finding any of the information I need.
  3. Yeah I have been leaning towards cleaning off the bottom of the running boards and mounting them there. Get some heavy duty solvent because I don't know if rubbing alcohol will take off the road tar and crap that's stuck underneath them. I also have a box of the "3M Adhesive Promoter" to use and try to get them to stick even better.
  4. Oh I have all the wiring I need landed under the hood (did that on an earlier project), what I was wondering about is where anybody who has them is mounting them. Worried about them falling if I use just the 2 sided tape. The rocker panels have that rough coating on them so I know sticking them to that wouldn't end well. I have factory running boards but just not sure if that's the best option either.
  5. Does anyone have any experience installing these on their trucks? https://www.amazon.com/OPT7-Running-Strips-Signal-Courtesy/dp/B07D535PHM/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=running%2Bboard%2Bled&qid=1639415521&sr=8-5&th=1 I have a pair that I've had for almost a year now just haven't gotten around to installing them. If any of you have, how did you mount them?
  6. Why is that thing only ~$100 and a replacement HVAC control panel for 1996 Tahoe is twice that.

  8. Ahh that probably explains it. In the US they made backup cameras mandatory on vehicles built after 2015 I believe.
  9. Ouch, I bet those are soldered onto the circuit board too.
  10. I feel like this has been an option even on the older vehicles too. 3-prong fuse holder in fuse block on driver's side. Having fuse in 1+2 would be like accessory power and 2+3 would be constant hot.
  11. Drivers side heated seat quit working on me this fall. Thought maybe the detail shop might have pulled a wire loose or something but after checking it over everything was still plugged in. So of course I was thinking, "great, some module has went bad or I have a broken wire in the harness." After doing some checking, I found out my passenger side still worked, bother switches still illuminated, and I had power to the heated seat terminals. Figured it had to be the pads in the seats themselves, so I ordered some replacements online for ~$150 and blocked out all of Saturday to get it replaced. I was shocked when it only took me and my father 1.5 hours start to finish to replace them. Super easy job, I recommend using a heat gun on the old pads to loosen the glue up on the foam and they will peel right off. Sure enough the element was burnt and broken.
  12. I've pretty much steered my dad clear of purchasing one of the cheap $60 "tuners" at this point. The truck is 99% stock, only thing we have changed is he went to a 285 tire over a 245 which that was just very recent. He's been complaining about fuel mileage since he bought the truck in 2014 with the stock tire size. He's 65 so he doesn't drive too erratic or too much over the speed limit (70 here in IL). I think part of his problem is a friend of his used to have an 04 that got better fuel mileage so he just assumed with his being an 07 it should get the same if not better. Everything I've read says you're only going to "possibly" get more MPGs with a tuner and maybe a less restrictive exhaust. So I told him if he's worried about gaining 2-4mpgs then he needs to buy a decent tuner. But $350 in a tuner goes a long way in diesel with as little as he commutes.
  13. This question has probably been answered on here a hundred times over but I can't seem to find any search results that match exactly what I'm looking for. My dad has 07 Classic with the LBZ Duramax. He absolutely loves the truck and plans on running it til the day he dies. With that being said, his biggest complaint is the fuel mileage he gets out of it. He averages 12-14MPG no matter how he drives it even when towing our boats/campers. He keeps sending me links to sketchy sites with tuners that are dirt cheap and claim to greatly improve fuel mileage. I'm smart enough to know not to go cheap when it comes to tuners/programmers. Can anyone provide any recommendations on somewhat affordable tuners that increase fuel mileage enough to warrant buying one in the first place? Or any other ideas to help squeeze some more MPGs out of it? Any input is greatly appreciated!
  14. Has anybody else replaced their corner speakers with the replacements from Memphis Audio and experienced loss of higher range (treble)? I feel like after I replaced mine anything of a higher pitch just doesn’t sound as loud anymore (like turn signal sounds). I found some “bass reducers” on Crutchfield but not sure if that would help my problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Mine came with the factory Rancho’s and rides like a dream. So I wonder how much better of a ride I could get with new shocks myself? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. 75k on my ‘14 Z-71 and have yet to do one. I check the fluid every oil change and it’s still nice and red and doesn’t smell burnt. I may consider a flush/fill when I hit 100k. My truck is 50/50 city/highway miles. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I only buy my oil from Wally World. Nobody else sells Dexos cheaper. It should be illegal for places like Oreillys to sell it so high. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Okay so I know this sounds silly but I have someone interested in buying my old DL8 mirrors. They have a High Country and want to know if the mirrors will function with them? @pgamboa do you know if the DL3 harnesses in a High Country will work with the DL8 mirrors?
  19. Replaced the condenser today in my '14. Weld broke on the driver's side of the unit. Apparently a "known weak point" according my neighbor (GM Mechanic). He tried getting it in under a special service warranty they had posted but apparently my truck didn't qualify. So I ordered it and replaced it myself this morning.
  20. How hard/expensive was this mod? I've been wanting to do this to my '14 LT Z-71. Tried the cheap plastic overlay thing but it fell off after a day of driving.
  21. I haven’t tried it with anything hooked up to it yet. I wanted to test to see if it’d even work before running all the wires out underneath the hood to my light bar. Because theoretically it should supply 12v to the yellow wire when the switch is depressed right? Even without anything hooked up to it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I just tried again on my ‘14 and put it in drive and still no dice. [emoji17] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Okay well it appears as though this switch won’t work in the 2014s. I just made my harness following TinkeringFox’s video and my switch doesn’t do anything. No light on the instrument cluster and the switch doesn’t change to amber. Can anyone confirm this? I’m assuming the BCM isn’t configured for it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. The hardest part was getting the plastic insert out of the step to drill the holes. Only because I was avoiding removing the bumper because I don’t know about the 2500s but the 1500s you have to unbolt the bed from the body and raise it up to get the rear bumper out of the brackets. [emoji849] I had these installed too but they were junk. Went through 2 pairs and both shorted out in less than a year. Poor customer service by Anzo as well since I bought them through Amazon they basically wouldn’t talk to me. AnzoUSA 861145 Step Bar Light for Chevrolet/GMC - Pair https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IRUQW0C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_4t.OBb759RSZN Just noticed I can’t find them on their website anymore and Amazon says currently unavailable. So they must of figured out how crappy they were. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I'm assuming this mod is a no-go for the 2014 Silverados?
