  1. Look what fluid film did to the frame, it took all the wax coating off. Now it just looks like garbage and you have exposed metal with dirty oil on it. I would just buy the replacement wax and just touch it up every so often. I live in MN as well and when I was looking at used trucks before buying my new one, the 2015 and 2016 still looked new underneath. it makes me think that not all of them have the coating flake off but I'm sure some do.
  2. The strut mount separated? Yikes. Was it a better ride, vs the wrong ones that were on there?
  3. That picture is a good reason for me to never use Fluid Film.
  4. Exactly. And there is plenty of supply so why anyone would pay $300 is really confusing. $65 for the sensor and harness, just need the fuel line connectors. It's $100 worth of parts.

  6. I'd like to know if anyone who has installed the e85 sensor without tuning has a scanning software or tool to confirm that yes, the truck is reading ethenol content. I have HPTuners but at 650 miles I won't be using it. Flex fuel is the one option my 2018 doesn't have but wish it did. Lots of e85 stations here in MN.
  7. What kind of wheels are those? Looks good!
  8. Do you happen to know the bulletin number? I thought I saw something that was 8 speed only.
  9. I thought that perhaps it's a pinion angle issue which makes me think I should bring it in before I put my Bilstein leveling kit on. It's just a pain to find time as my dealership doesn't do diagnostics on weekends.
  10. Truck past 500 miles this week so I decided to give him the beans from a stop and noticed a slight vibration through 1st gear, up to around 30. Seemed gone after it hit 2nd gear. I don't notice this under light or normal acceleration. Anyone experience this? 2018 5.3 / 6 speed
  11. Got my struts today... or should I say strut. Looks like the mail carrier was a little rough and one of the front struts ejected from the box and is MIA. Hope I get the replacement in time for next weeks 4 day weekend. Hahaa
  12. You buying the correct shocks and struts to swap them out? Glad to here there is a reason why your ride was so bad.
  13. Sounds like you're using spacers and 5100's at stock height? By track width, does he mean lower offset wheels would ride better, due to changing the leverage on the suspension? Good information to know TX. Seems like there would be a market for a plush riding small lift. Makes me wonder, I know the 19 Silverado is all new so I assume the struts are not compatible...? GM is offering a 2" lift strut on those.
  14. I'm torn between that setting and one down. My truck doesn't seem to have as much rake as some do, so I'll probably go one down. What's your wheel and tire setup? Another thing I feel people forget is where you live. Roads are much much worse up here in MN and other northern states. The winter really messed them up.
  15. I drive a 3/4 ton van with LT tires everyday and find the ride of that to be better. I have pretty realistic expectations I think. Granted the van has a lot of weight in it which certainly smooths it out, I do not expect or want the truck to ride like a Cadillac. My biggest complaint about the Ranchos is the bump shudder and the highway bobbing (I have under 500 miles). As of yet, I don't know what it rides like with Bilsteins. I'll get them next week but it might be another week or two until I put them on.
  16. What setting are you at, top?
  17. You guys were right. Error on the website, it's for a truck with shocks only. Straightened it out, paid the extra and I should have them soon.
  18. That's annoying. I called them a few hours after I ordered and they said they couldn't find my order yet but they'll call me in the morning. He agreed that the 5100's are height adjustable so it should be correct. Sounds like if it ends up costing around $375, I should still order them.
  19. 4wheelparts has a promotion on the package. My understanding is the non height adjustable ones are 4600. I did call them to verify but they have to get back to me tomorrow.
  20. I've used this style strut on a different vehicle, different brand. You have to remove and disassemble the strut to change it.
  21. My point is there is a wide spectrum in results. I assume something may be going wrong on the install or some defective part. I decided to order them from 4wp. $297 shipped for all 4. I go back and forth on which setting I'm going to do, either the 2nd or 3rd (.75 or 1.25 claimed lift). Since I don't really want to mess with rear blocks and my truck has under 2.5" rake, I'll probably go with the 2nd setting and maintain 1.5" rake. I'll be sure to post pics and a review!
  22. I've read so many posts about the 5100s my head is spinning. 80% love them, 20% say they ride terribly. Seems like there would be some in between. Perhaps some Install error? Maybe bolts need to be torqued when the truck is on its own weight? Everytime I'm ready to buy them I find someone new who says they're terrible.
  23. 18 LT Z71. After 500 miles I see why people hate the Ranchos. What I'm confused about is everyone agrees that the Z71 rides rough. I feel all the road imperfections and bumps make the truck shudder. What I don't get is everyone agrees the Bilsteins are firmer...how is that better? I stuck with P rated 275/65r18s to maintain a good ride. If I went Bilstein I'd go with the 1.25" lift up front (I've read is more like 1.5" lift).
  24. Anyone ever compare these to Bilsteins? Also curious if Eibach has an opinion on ride quality/harshness using stock springs or the Eibach springs. Seems the Eibachs use a coil with more wraps (longer) which could make it softer.
  25. I had a G8 that had a nasty tick I spent a year trying to diagnose. It made the car undrivable and it just sounded terrible. Exhaust manifold gaskets, I even rebuilt the rockers with a trunion upgrade. Every upgrade I did made it a tiny bit quieter. Finally found out that a firewall grommet had come loose from when I ran a boost gauge line into the car. Reseated it and the noise "went away" completely. That car didn't even have DI. If the cab isn't completely sealed off you will hear noise. Perhaps pump some thick chassis grease in there? Aresol white lithium isn't very thick and you may only be partly sealing it.
