  1. Part 1 of 2, I didn't realize how much time the footage took up. Some hill climb videos didn't make it, unfortunately. My trip back (part two) had some good hill videos as well as my def usage. Stay tuned for that.
  2. topped off until it overflowed before I left and topped off the same when I returned. mileage was roughly in the 17's after going to and from, was 17.8 one way and 16.x the other
  3. I ended up using just over 3.5 gallons on my 1300ish mile trip towing. I added 2.5 when my display told me I had 300 miles remaining and it still showed 1/2 tank. when I got home i topped off with just over 1 gallon bringing the total to just over 3.5 gallons.
  4. assuming there is an air leak then. I'd recheck everything first
  5. thanks for the inputs. I did not see any of these before I towed but I think I hit them all. Will put the video together most likely on sunday mileage was about 17mpg towing over 1300 miles and def usage was just over 3.5 gallons def display was quite interesting during the tow and I will show that in the video. pulling up hills was amazing. no problem doing 80 (where the speed limit permits)
  6. only other thing I can think of where the horn comes into play is tire relearn. I wouldn't stress over it, though.
  7. how about maybe the ignition was still on when you exited the vehicle with the key fob in your pocket?
  8. typically a three honk is the key fob notification, in this case it's just kinda odd.
  9. I'm about to leave on a 1500ish mile trip towing my car from Utah to California and back. My 3.0 duramax has just about 1000 miles on it and this will be my first tow with it. i have done this trip in my nearly identical 5.3 and I was pleased with that. I will be recording some footage along the way to hopefully give some insight to people on the fence about buying a mini duramax, what the towing mileage is as well as DEF consumption. I am bringing the GM scan tool and laptop with me so I can check on data at any time if I see fit. My question to you is, What would you like to see? # of regens? Def usage? MPG? how it feels when driving? ... shout it out and I will see what I can include.\\\
  10. Wow, sounds like a rod knock to me ! Eek !!!
  11. Hey guys- Just wanted to share that i have my manifold combo up on ebay. It also includes the elite catch can. I think the starting price is super low for what it is. if the buyer is in Utah, i'd be happy to include the cut airbox and the 6.2L duct for no additional charge. (if picked up) https://www.ebay.com/itm/154136165807
  12. Thanks everyone ! That's what I was looking for !
  13. Yeah, i'm more after if the tank will be sufficient and I can leave any extra at home. I saw someone post some crazy amount of usage when towing but that's the only post I found.
  14. Tough situation there as I would be upset if my new truck needed a new engine, however, the good side of this is that you will no longer have to be concerned about the valve spring issue? Trying to be positive for ya. As far as the truck not getting back to you, I assume it's because there was a stoppage on the engines to confirm the new engine you are getting doesn't fall into this window of issue. In addition, some parts issues could have shown up as the 'Rona did slow things down for quite a while. Hope you get it back soon and have a million trouble free miles after !
  15. Hey guys, i'm going to be towing (open trailer with Camaro - maybe 6000 lbs) in about 2 weeks for the first time in this truck - 2020 Silverado 3.0L Duramax - It's roughly 1500 miles total with hills (Utah to California and Back) My question is, knowing the DEF usage is engine load dependent, what kind of usage should I expect? I don't want to buy DEF while i'm out, I have my own I can bring with me if needed. I have 800 miles on the truck and the DEF gauge has not changed at all but I have also not towed or put it under any extreme load. I'm anxious for this trip because I just did this same trip in the 5.3 nearly identical truck and I get to see how to the two compare in terms of towing and mileage. If you don't follow the YouTube channel - please do as I will make a full video on the first time towing with this truck. Thanks
  16. The picoscope readings will give an excellent reading of where to look. If they have been sticking with the tires even after the readings on that road test - I would assume it's in the tires. The driveshaft will give different readings. The tech is correct that if the readings are within GM specs, they can't replace anything, GM will deny the claim ... I like that the service manager is still trying to go further and get a repair. The swap of the wheels is the right idea as mentioned, I'm assuming they have done that already but if not, that will tell you if it's tires or not ....
  17. only 750 miles here and have not noticed anything like what you described. this thing is smoooooth !!!!
  18. Awesome pics !
  19. Glad I saw you guys talking about the temps. Mine does it, I don't like it but GM says that's how it's designed ! I just did a quick video on my truck and the temp gauge moving is at 4:14 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VCQJzpIadA it does it all of the time ! Sits right above 210 and then goes up to just under 3/4 and then eventually comes down then does it again. I tried it in tow and checkered flag mode and no change. I will be actually towing mid october and people say it actually runs cooler while towing, so I will see on that.
  20. Your dealer failed you and this is concerning. The code is a very important one that needs to be addressed. There is a bulletin for wire rub which they need to check. If it passes that, they need to look up the code and see what it means. In this case, it's the coolant valve is sticking. This is a huge problem that needs to be fixed before you tow again !
  21. Mine did it's first one just after 400 miles.
  22. It's not a traditional float style sensor but multiple sensors and an algorithm. it still shouldn't do that but assuming it was in between some measurements and just a one time deal? I only have 750 miles but mine hasn't moved from full yet. i will keep an eye on it.
  23. Sounds like an awesome deal. Trade in values are great right now and it looks like you have a great drop in price and a great trade in. The 8 speed is a good transmission, it just has it's quirks. They are said to be "normal" like the 1-2 shift in the morning and don't shift from reverse to drive to quickly. I loved my 8 speed 5.3 but now in a 3.0 diesel with the 10 speed just because of these great prices and trade in values !
