Hey folks, I'm in the market for a truck. During my search I'm seeing the vast majority of late model (22,23) GMC trucks for sale near me in the south east are trucks that originally sold in Canada. Was there a shortage of trucks designated for the US during these years? Is this a thing that I never knew about? What are your thoughts on buying a truck that was exposed to northern elements for a couple of years?

Update on this thread. No motor issues and no lifter issues. AFM hasn't ran for over 100k maybe more. I replaced ground cable from battery to starter/chassey. This solved intermittant no start issues. I had an O2 sensor go out on driver side after header. (that one scared me....truck just instantly ran like it was blown up) Also now at 349,800.00 My trip to NM elk hunting in the mountains kind of hurt the suspension this past Sept. I'm hearing creaking and stuff up front. So I think a pair of quick struts and possibly ball joint replacement is next. Roll on

2024 3500 LT halogen headlights
bullet225ho replied to Brain Candle's topic in 2020-2026 Silverado HD & Sierra HD
Yep, That's about what upgrade to LED package from factory cost on the LT -
Is this a case of 22 built trucks that have been sitting in a field somewhere due to chip shortage? I just don't see how there can still be 22's out there at this point.

I can't remember when AFM quit doing it's thing. but I did put a K&N air filter on at about 175k. From that point on I pretty much had check engine light on due to air sensing stuff. I figured it was the new air filter. The ABS, Traction Control has been lit up for the last 75k I'd say. I think it has to do with negative ground cable on battery. I'm not sure but that's also when I started having small electrical/no start issues that where solved by adjusting the negative battery cable.

No idea what a range disabled is or a catch can. I will say that after around 225k my truck does not go into V4 mode on th e DIC. I actually get better gas mileage without the V4 mode. It used to just go back and forth on the highway and I think it cost me mileage. I didn't do anything for it to not go into V4 mode....it just did it by itself.

This truck was probably never worth 37k when I bought it or new. New trucks probably don't represent anywhere near what they are priced. This truck will never be for sale by me. It will either be wrecked or just die a slow death....I do have a 14yr old......He doesn't seem interested in it. If someone would give me 37k for it I'd kinda be in a pickle as I'd still have to fork over another 30k for a new one.....and be afraid everytime I took off on a trip that a sensor would trip some part of the system and I'd be stuck. With this truck I kinda know what I got.

Not sure if it's bragging or too poor to afford a new one. Just hit 300K on 2014 GMC All Terrain CC 4WD 5.3v8. Truck is basically stock. I purchased it in 2016 with 51K on it. I immediately did oil change with Edge motor oil. Have used Edge the entire time changing at DIC stated intervals. A time or two I have had low oil message on DIC. Either went in for top off or just got oil changed. Wix filters were used up until 3 oil changes ago and my local oil shop was bought out by "Take 5" Now I have no clue what filter or oil they use. They stated it was equivelent to edge...I'm sure it's probably junk and I'm looking for a new oil shop. Part failures that I can remember: Air condenser cooler went out at 115k. I replaced it myself and I guess I broke a clip at the trans coolant line. That clip let go about 15k later and dumped tranny fluid all over I75. I buttoned it all up and then at 140k Tranny went out (was probably my fault) A/C delco tranny in at 140k. Brake pads at around 180k, Starter around 200k, Another transmission at 236k that was covered by A/C delco as the replacement had 100k warranty and didn't make it. Second Air condenser at 245k. Front pads and rotors around 250k. about 4 sets of wiper blades, 2 batteries. I have a grounding issue that I think is in the negative battery cable. Starting to get intermittent no start/dead battery issues from time to time....re-adjust negative battery cable and it starts right up. With all that said. it's been a great truck. I've been from Mid GA to Colorado and South Florida to DC is this damn thing. Also, during 2021 it basically sat for a year except for vacation trips (so maybe 7000 put on truck in 2021) I had a company vehicle. So, I'd like to sell it for 37k that I paid for it in 2016. It's definitely reliable. I'm wanting a 24 2500 so bad...but dang they are spendy.

286K as of now. Due for an oil change. Just made two trips during month of Sept. One over 3200 round trip from GA to NM for an elk hunt in Carson National Forest. Truck was loaded down....probably actually over limit of truck. Then one week after I got back I made another trip with the family to VA Beach 1100 mile round trip. I keep dumping gas in her and changing oil. I did make a tire change at about 280K. went back to stock size BFG Trail Terrain tires. MPG is now averaging 20mpg mixed... I do mostly interstate/divided highway driving. -

Oil was changed according to DIC. Have used 0-20 Edge since I got the truck with 52k on it. I'm due for an oil change now and I'm at 278k -

2014 5.3 4x4, 6 speed, crew cab, 6.5' (standard bed), 2.5" level installed around 65k 275550 as of today. 2 A/C condensers on 3rd transmission (factory went at 120kish, replacement went out 94k later was replaced under warranty) on the warranty trans now with approx 65-70k on it. front rotors and pads changed 2 times. rear rotors and pads changed 1 time 2 starters replaced plugs and wires replaced at 180k only mods has been 2.5" level to front only (no rear blocks) K&N air filter around 140k Currently have (and been there for over a year) ABS, Traction Control dummy light Was looking hard at trading truck back in late 19 early 20 but just didn't find the right truck at the time. In a way I wish I had found the truck as I'd have gotten a decent deal and in a way I'm glad I didn't as I'd be 50k in debt to a damn truck where as now I owe nothing on a truck. -

How many miles on your 5.3
bullet225ho replied to Jonboko's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I got the truck used in 2016 with 49k on it. I do edge 0-20 oil every 7k. A/C condenser went out at around 80k. I swapped that out myself. Transmission went out at around 126k on GM Replacement since then. Starter at around 140k. Pads and rotors also around 140k. Plugs and wires at the transmission swap at 126k. Just replaced the front pads and rotors again at 252k as the others were warped and vibrating badly on braking. I don't have a catch can as I have no clue what that is. Truck was mainly used on highway. I do tow a 21ft Bullet bass boat about 15 times a year(150 mile round trip to the lake and back). Also tow a 20ft enclosed trailer about 4 times a year. Off road with the truck has been minimal. Hunting club when its wet. basically muddy clay roads in Oct and Nov. I just got back from a trip to the beach in the truck. 500miles round trip. averaged 18.6mpg on dic. 2" level and 32" BFG on stock wheels. My son is 12 and I'd say this will probably be his truck in 4 years. I drove the truck as a daily in outside sales...so daily it was a highway queen... but it is my truck...so I pulled the boat, went hunting etc. I now have a provided work vehicle and the GMC sets in the driveway (except for the vacation trip and towing boat/hunting) -

Hey folks, Just wanted to throw out there that I just turned a 1/4 million on my 2014 GMC All Terrain. It's not been without it's issues here and there, but hey......It's still trucking along. I purchased it used with 48k on it back in 2016 and have been selling out of it since. I'm in outside sales and It gets driven plenty. Mainly highway but there are always gravel roads, dirt roads and a good bit of city driving to boot. I changed evaporator coil at some point, brakes and rotors at some point, starter some where in there. Also a transmission was replaced around 125k if I remember correctly. It needs windshield replaced as it has a crack. Also has a small spot of paint chipping on passenger rear door. Other than that it's getting about 18mpg and doesn't use any more oil than when I got it. Maintenance is basically Edge 0-20 every 7000 and grease what needs greasing. Feed it the cheapest 87 octane and roll. 4x4, 5.3 Crew Cab, Standard Bed, Heavily Optioned All Terrain model. I'd die to have a new one but I just can't crank out the money they are asking for one these days. My needs have actually changed and I'd love to get into a 2500 gas. Maybe one of these days the dealers will have plenty and rebates will be large (sarcasm)

So.......No bucket seat option with console in the SLE HD in 2021? I may have missed it.

I'm up to 212,245 and counting. Just put it up for sale. Looking to get into a 3.0 I think the mileage numbers should work in my favor. https://macon.craigslist.org/cto/d/perry-2014-gmc-slt-all-terrain-crew-cab/7118784345.html -
