  1. So I guess nobody on this forum has done the DOD delete? Hey Diyer2, I guess you know more than GM, the oil life is calculated by GM algorithm from actual driving data. I don't think GM would suggest oil changes so infrequently, to the point of performing warranty engine repair. I know every truck does not have lifter failure this often, but I am positive they will fail within the 10ok to 150k miles. Have you bought a new T1 truck yet?
  2. Yes, 3 separate lifter failures. This time they are replacing all of the lifters and the Soleniods. My question pertains to experience with performing the DOD and tuning, not oil.
  3. I bought my 2019 GMC Sierra Elevation with 5.3 and DFM brand new, now at 95000 miles the truck is in for its third time with lifter failure. The extended warranty will run out in another 18000 miles. I need to make this truck reliable. I have been doing research and would be doing the work myself. I would be getting the DOD kit from Michigan Motorsports. It replaces the lifters with standard roller lifters. I would be leaving the stock cam in. Then I would need to use HP Tuners to unlock the ECU and use their software to turn off the DFM. I would like to speak with people that have done this and their success rate and any pitfalls. This is my daily driver and i am not looking to make more power, just more reliable, like a small block chevy should be. Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.
  4. I cant help you but I am interested in the results of your DOD delete.
  5. I had check engine light come on with cylinder mis-fire, but the truck also ran like ******. both times required lifter replacement. I too am asking GM to extend warranty as I now have 69000 miles
  6. I am up to 2 times lifter failures. 26000 miles(left bank) and now at 68000 miles (right bank).
  7. I just got my 2019 GMC Sierra with 5.3(67000 miles) back from the dealer after 3 weeks of replacing the lifter and Piston. First time they did it on another cyclinder with 26000 miles. I have lost all trust in this crappy DFM motor. I like to keep my truck for many years, this thing is a ticking time bomb. May be looking at getting the 2500 6.6 gas as it does not have DFM. The only problem is 5mpg less. And what I get for a trade in.
  8. $443 for parts labor not included. I sent them an e-mail waiting on response.
  9. Well I jinxed my self, 67000 miles and its back at at the dealer for #3 cylinder, lifter, piston and ring replacement.
  10. I just want to update and confirm these lifter issues are a real problem. At 25000 miles I had the check engine light intermittently turn on with engine misfire and rough shifting. Had the dealer look at it three times, first time they reported cylinder miss #4, reset codes. Second time back same problems and codes, they replace the spark plug. Third time same problems they replaced the lifter, solenoid and wire harness for DFM. Truck ran good until now 67000 miles, same problems, 1st visit dealer changed spark plug, 2nd visit dealer changed intake manifold, 3rd visit, they still have it changing lifters, piston and ring in #3 cylinder. That seems like a major amount of work, I do not know if the engine has to be removed to take the oil pan out to get the piston out? Dealer has been great suppling loaner car each time and covering under warranty. I always changed the oil at recommended intervals with proper oil. I am really worried about longevity of this motor. I see that Michigan motors has a DFM delete kit that has standard lifters and plugs for the DFM solenoids. Here is the link: https://www.michiganmotorsports.com/camshafts-michigan-motorsports/dod-afm-delete-kits/2019-l84-5-3-dfm-lifter-delete-kit-dod-afm-5-3l-gen-v-kit/ I asked the dealer about this and they said one of their employees installed this and blew the motor. This is even more alarming. Has anybody had similar experiences and has anybody installed the DFM delete kit? I had a 2004 2500 Duramax (LLY) that I traded in for this truck, it had 275000 miles and I had to replace one injector. Wish I never got rid of it.
  11. My 2019 GMC Sierra with 5.3 had the issue with less than 10k miles. Dealer got me a loaner car for almost three weeks. Besides replacing two lifters they replaced the wire harness to the solenoids for AFM. Truck has been running good since with 65k miles.
  12. I finally got the truck back from the dealer. They had to replace the #4 lifters, solenoids and injector as well as the #1 injector. Also they had to replace the solenoid harness as it broke when they removed it. Appeared to run good this morning, time will tell.
  13. Well, the second time the truck went in on Friday, they said cylinder 4 was miss firing, they said the plug was fouled and changed it. I picked up the truck and knew that didn't fix it, said I will be back. I have not had a fouled plug since I had a hot rod with Holley carb and a big cam with a lumpy idle...WTF? Over the weekend same lights, same trouble. This time at highway speed the truck started missing and bucking, on a whim, then be fine. Dealer has it again for a third time.
  14. I have the 5.3 V8, looks like this is for the 4 cylinder.
  15. I had a 2004 Duramax for 15 + years, never any trouble ( well 1 injector) I have a 2019 GMC Elevation, 25k miles and all these codes come up. When the CEL is flashing it's like its running on 4 cylinders. I am not feeling confident this new truck will be as great as the last. I have an appointment to drop it off at the dealer on Tuesday, will keep you posted.
  16. 19Sierra, thanks for the info. I have an appointment Tuesday.
  17. I was skeptical about this, but the truck was just too quite, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it. Wow, what a difference for $10 in hose clamps I had to buy. Now when you give it gas it sounds like there is something other than an electric motor under the hood. Works for now, and I don't have to rip out a brand new exhaust system. Thanks for the tip!
  18. Yes, they are the pin crimped to a 6" piece of wire with a butt connector, not cheap
  19. Part number is listed in the attached word document. Two different pin sizes. Also swapping the fuse did not change the extra pin to RAP. So I wired the sirius power cord to the cigar lighter wires
  20. I have them on order from GMpartsdirect.com Have not received them yet. Today I will swap the 50 amp fuse (F27/F28) in the passenger side fuse box so the accessory power will be tied to the retained accessory power and will try tapping into the extra pin near the F28.
  21. I found a place to tap into auxiliary 12VDC. Under the drivers side dash there is an extra connector X260. It has a blank mating connector pugged into it. I will be going to GM to see if I can get the pins. In the GM up-fitters website you can download the breakout but the Black wire on 1 is ground and the Violet/Yellow wire on 6 is the accessory power. It is a 14 pin plug. x260.doc
  22. Good question, I am planning on installing a SiriusXM stratus 7 receiver and was wondering the same thing.
