  1. Check your main battery ground connections to both the battery and the body. In 2020 there were threads about people having resets and other strange symptoms that were traced by the dealer to undertorqued ground connections.
  2. I bought a 2024 4runner TRD Off Road just after Christmas for about 8% below msrp. I tried to push them more but I was a bit handicapped because I’d been waiting for that exact configuration and the salesman knew it, and I didn’t want the car sitting on the lot getting test driven. I bought it with 4 miles on it. If I had been willing to walk and wait for them to call I’m sure I could have gotten at least another 1000 off.
  3. I remember seeing a video by the Toyota “Car Care Nut” guy where he said that tpms senders in the wheels have a centrifugal force actuated switch to detect motion. If they don’t detect motion for something like 30 days the tpms goes into a sleep mode to conserve the battery. To wake them up you have to drive fast enough to actuate the centrifugal switch. I have no idea what speed is needed, but it’s likely higher than slow driveway maneuvering speed. As the person above wrote, they should come back up once you start driving at road speeds.
  4. Summer of 2021 when I bought mine Dee Zee did not have ones for the long bed - just the standard hd bed. It might be worth calling a few local dealers to get a price on the GM mat. Mine was quite a bit cheaper from the dealer than buying it from gmpartsdirect and similar when shipping was added. I suspect it was because they could get it from the distribution center as part of a large shipped load so the shipping cost was very low. I had to wait about a week for it to come in their weekly stock parts delivery.
  5. The new part superseded the 195F thermostat in mid 2021. All that are out there now should be the new ones. They have a code stamped on them. I think it is “70” but I’d have to look again. The new part should be readily available. There was a long thread on this. I suspect the original reason the engineers designed it for 195F was for slightly better fuel efficiency. I’m guessing when they saw the degree to which the system temperature climbs above the set point in a long pulling climb in warm conditions, they decided they should open the cooler flow up at a lower temperature so you start hot climbs 40F cooler. Since most customers want longevity over 0.01 more mpg, and lower transmission fluid temperatures probably improve longevity, many have changed the thermostat, some with the dealer being willing to interpret the TSB to cover it even with no transmission “malfunction.” My dealer refused. It’s easy to do yourself. One person in the prior thread said almost no fluid is lost when changing the thermostat. I’m going to change mine right before my first fluid change so the fluid level will correct.
  6. I have the GMC accessories rubber bed mat in my 3500hd long bed. It’s 3/8 thick and fits perfectly. I bought it through my Chevy dealer (gives better prices on parts than the GMC dealer next door) for about $160. I bought it primarily to keep my camper from shifting, but it’s also nice when the camper is unloaded.
  7. Might want to get the newer 153F transmission thermostat at some point since you tow heavy. I’m putting it in later this year when I do a fluid change at 15k miles on my 2021. I don’t tow a heavy trailer so I haven’t been in a hurry.
  8. For you Mandalorian fans: GB - if you are not familiar with that character, he regularly says, “I have spoken,” after telling someone his decision or how things are, to declare a discussion is over. After reading your post it immediately popped into my head that you should have closed your post with “I have spoken.”
  9. I would not be concerned at all using 3 year old fluid from sealed containers.
  10. I wouldn’t mix fluids in the same system even if they meet the same spec. The transfer case does not share fluid with the transmission so no problem using your different part number fluid for that. The other concern would be age of the fluid if it has been sitting several years. Do some research yourself if your fluid is older, but I’ve read recommendations not to use engine oil that has been on the shelf more than five years. One of our resident oil experts here may have advice on that.
  11. My guess is a truck sold with a plow package isn’t counted against them in some EPA standard for overall company model range fuel efficiency. The reason for the louvers as I understand it is to gain a very slight aerodynamic drag reduction when maximum cooling isn’t needed. If that truck isn’t part of the company’s compliance with the standard, why not save the production costs, from the point of view of the company.
  12. Another difference is the plow package eliminates the variable louvers in front of the radiator.
  13. There is a plow package that increases the FGAWR by using different torsion bars. They can be 400 or 800 lbs higher capacity depending on the truck configuration. There is a front camper springs package that raises the FGAWR 400 lbs higher than the base rating for your configuration. You would have one package or the other - not both. I think there also is a camper wiring package that puts a trailer connector in the bed of the truck. You could have this in addition to a plow package.
  14. You have my condolences, JT.
  15. Well as long as we’re completely off the GM truck topic and just trying to amuse Jettech, last week I took delivery of a new 4Runner. Similar color to my 3500hd. I am trying to set an example for Jettech, who should be ordering his new 2024 truck about now.
  16. Based what folks are reporting here, the transfer case may have been under filled at the factory, so your fluid loss in 5000 miles may have been much less than the 1/2 quart.
  17. If you have a Discount Tire near you they will do it in the air check line for free. They have the tool, but you will need to read your manual beforehand to know how to enter learn mode.
  18. Maybe just replace for now the one that’s a real problem? Also, do you have a friend that’s a diy person who could coach or help you for some beer and dinner? Or search for a youtube video and tackle it yourself? It’s likely the trickiest thing about the job will be figuring out some unique non-obvious release feature on an electrical connector.
  19. Push home and then camera on the touch screen goes right to the front camera.
  20. I remembered to check today. My switches in my 2021 push on and stay slightly depressed relative to the off position, so they stay in the on position even if power to the switch goes off.
  21. The 2024 has the ability to easily disable the inner tailgate to avoid hitting the hitch. It’s described in the manual.
  22. Use an ad blocker app and it all goes away.
  23. Probably “oil gallery plug” rather than “oil galley plug,” although you will see a lot of people using “galley” when they talk about the plugs for oil galleries. Some are threaded plugs, and some are press-in and look like a freeze plug. If a press-in one is not installed squarely as it’s being driven in it won’t be as tight and can pop out under pressure.
