    Water is a natural by product of the catalytic converter doing it thing. Once the converter is at it's normal operating temperature, the water is evaporated to the point you can't see it. That is one of several reasons why a car needs to run at normal operating temps for a while. Otherwise the collected water never burns off and rusts the exhaust system from the inside out.

    IMO putting it into gear without a drive shaft and revvving it is asking for trouble.

    IMO you got screwed on your tires. No way I would drive on those. I had a blow out on the freeway at 85 mph with tires not quite that bad looking and had $7500 worth of damage.

    I had one in my 05 that was hard to find. It was an aftermarket security system that was installed by a previous owner.

    I found a good deal on a used receiver mounted winch. Then when I went to set it up I realized that a receiver mounted winch is a jerry rig. Plus what I thought was a good deal I had a hard time selling it for half of what I purchased it for.

    I wonder what happened to mine. In the early 70's I had almost every one that was available. IIRC they were $.59 a piece.

    Since it is your 4th or 5th alternator, maybe take it to a pro to fix ?

    If you are ever going to tow anything go for the 8.1. I own two of them and will keep them as long as possible. However the best mileage I have ever received is a little over 12mpg not towing. As far as I know the transmission problems are with the newer 8 and 10 speed transmissions.

    The last time I had that kind of problem the front of the radiator was covered with dead bugs.

    When you install taller tires you also change the overall gear ratio. Did you take that into account ?

    The problem with that idea is it would restrict the flow of air to the radiator too much when it is really hot out.

    We use an Orvis cover in two vehicles. They have both lasted over 10 years.

    The drive shaft shop I go to has told me that non grease able U joints are stronger since they don't have the grease holes drilled in them. My 73 F100 that was almost overloaded would need the rear U joint replaced about once a year. We tried all the different u joints available, grease able. non-grease able, expensive German made, no matter what they all lasted the same amount of time.
