  1. do you have the code definitions?
  2. see if you can keep it running by spraying carb cleaner into the intake while a helper starts it. if you can its a fuel problem. let us know so we can help with diagnostics
  3. proper fuel pressure is critical. does it just fire or does it run for a second?
  4. could be an inner CV joint. they do weird things and aren't the easiest things to check
  5. hub bearings usually won't cause a vibration but if it has play it needs to be replaced. 60-70 mph sure sounds like tires but could be the driveshaft or even the torque converter but the tc would do it in neutral revving it up. take a good look at the brake rotors, look at the cooling fins and make sure they aren't rotted or full of dirt. I had an old Ford that had a fan blade missing on the alternator that caused a pretty good vibration at speed
  6. Amen brother! Thank you all that have served
  7. I bet its the tire balance. are you having them balanced at the same place every time? it seems no 1 calibrates their balancers anymore. I have tried several shops in my area with my car and my truck and my tires are still out of balance. Im ready to go to a big box tire place and pay the big $ then make a pain in the ass out of myself until they get bit right. probably should have gone there in the first place. maybe I should dig out my old bubble balancer?
  8. AMAZING!!! you must have more $ than I do
  9. Yep thats GREAT! I have had success with that method as well, its very frustrating to spend all that $ and still have a CEL, glad we could help
  10. I agree with Sharpz & Tim but also check and clean the IAC valve. if you have a scan tool that does data stream you should see the counts drop as it warms up and you should be able hear the rpms come down as the counts drop
  11. I agree, theres lots of reasons they may be noisy. I got around 70k miles out of a pump that was noisy with 1/4 tank or less which came in handy cuz the gauge didnt work under 1/2 a tank, that was a Delco pump from the dealer that I got after the Napa 1 I installed was really loud, I had to change it a couple months ago after it failed with a full tank. new 1 nice and quiet and the gauge works.
  12. bad pitman arm will just cause excess play in the steering and are a PIA to change on 4wd. you have to unbolt the steering box to get the clearance to use the puller
  13. you can't check ball joints or upper control arms unless you unload the spring/torsion bar by supporting the truck with stands under the lower control arms as close to the tire as possible. idler arms don't make any noise when worn and there is an old tsb that says some play is normal. it will cause tire wear and the truck may wander if its worn. I believe only some of the oe arms were adjustable but you won't know unless you remove it to replace it anyway
  14. if it just stays on for a second or 2 on a cold start its normal. over night the oil drains from all the passages and it takes a second for the oil pump to refill them and build pressure to shut the light off. changing the oil again can't hurt just to make sure . use name brand oil and filter tho
  15. did this start right after the oil change? its possible the oil filter is draining over night. or maybe wrong viscosity of oil if so
  16. great! easier than trying to eliminate it too
  17. creaky would be the ball joints or control arms, as for the ride quality its probably the tires or tire pressure.
  18. torsion bars wouldn't make noise unless broken. they are adjustable for ride height with the bolts at the rear of the bar. its probably the control arms your hearing if the ball joints and sway bar bushings are in good shape. did you replace the shock bolts that were corroded? sometimes they won't tighten enuff if they were worn or corroded
  19. I agree with Cam, also before you start the truck hook your scan tool up and see what the temp sensors are reading. air intake and coolant should be close to ambient after sitting over night.
  20. if you do change the valve make sure the passages aren't clogged with carbon
  21. time for a rebuild or are you going to change the whole thing? if you fix it it will need a new ring and pinion along with what caused the damage. once they make that much noise they will never be quiet again
  22. maybe its just in Mass but I think they said the same thing in Fla
  23. put it on a lift or stands and have sum1 accel decel while u listen. easy tho not faster than 25 mph
