Replace the fluid and drive it 'till it dies -
I was planning on starting a new house, but with lumber prices where they are at, I'll pass for now. Prices have been up by a factor of 4 sometimes more. Nobody knows what the prices will be. Usually it's predictable. Beginning of new year lumber usually drops due to import limits resetting to zero. I'm glad I built and finished my last one in 2019

Ok, they posted on our Facebook page. I knew I had seen it somewhere. Here's what the Admins posted at that time. "We're back! Thank you for bearing with us today. Full debrief tomorrow on what happened and why. Short version: Bad database software update that affected everyone who runs the server management software that we do. Required full site restore from backup, so some forum posts have been lost. Not a stress-free day in the office here - we must admit." They've still been working it on it though. I received this from Josh after sending a PM "We still have some things to address, like the forum software needs an update. At this point we have been more focused on that stuff, which will take a few more days. Please let them know that we lost 1 days worth of forum posts and that we are sorry this happened. I will come through and post with zane in a few days when we are done with what we are working on."

Help changing fuel filter on2005 Chevy Suburban
txab replied to Ron Stephenson's topic in Ask A GM Technician
Rockauto is not always correct with their listings. Only way it should have a filter would be if it had flex fuel capability. when they went to return-less fuel system in 04, external filters filters were dropped -

d=C/π circumference of pipe divided by Pi (3.14) You miss math class that day? j/k -
Those posts are gone as far as I know. Until the Admins say otherwise, I'd say go with that. I've heard nothing from them with any other info. I may have been mistaken about the email, maybe only mods got it. But I do remember it saying the Admins would have more info at a later time. Perhaps PM them. There might be something to be done, but again don't hold your breath You do understand a backup is a snapshot in time? If your posts occurred after an automatic backup was done or there was corruption, they won't be a part of the restore in most cases

8 speed fluid and filter change
txab replied to tlaw91's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
you can stop by a NAPA and look at the filter in person. NAPA Gold just have them cross the part # or do it yourself. The # will be close to the Wix # -

8 speed fluid and filter change
txab replied to tlaw91's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Pretty much everyone, not every application needs anti drain valve. Wix for one. I've used this one some hydraulic equipment https://www.wixfilters.com/Lookup/PartDetails.aspx?Part=15162 -

Why didn't you use a filter without the drain back valve? Plenty of options out there -
Where do you stash a pistol in your trucks?
txab replied to Imcrazy's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
The site was down for a day and some content across the site was lost due to having to load a back up copy of the site to the servers. Your post apparently fell into that category. I can find no trace of it. But yes there are limits on speech here. Read the site guidelines -
Admins will post about it today. It was major server problem as the simple explanation, plus having to restore the site from backups

Well looks like the "V" Power line is a nickel plug. It has of course a little v groove in the tip of the center electrode. Also according to NGK the number for the V power is: NGK 2238 TR5 V-Power Spark Plug The number for the platinum plug came from Rockauto At least it's not a plug that has the triple ground electrode. those are worthless imo and cause issues in many engines. I'd run a Platinum or double platinum plug. you would be surprised what some of these aftermarket plugs will do to running performance, especially at idle. But you got these so see what happens

Where do you stash a pistol in your trucks?
txab replied to Imcrazy's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
I've seen a version using a chain and padlock. The guy bolted it to the body underneath the box. Box had a hole in the bottom the chain ran through. Then padlock through the trigger guard. The length was set so that is virtually, if not impossible, to get bolt cutters on anything. Anything that will add time to the theft is a good thing -

I don't care about the insurance or the cost of the weapon. It's the fact that an unsecured weapon may be used by someone who would never be able to possess that weapon legally, to use it against a person or for illegal activity. We've got to be responsible owners at all times. It only gives the anti-gun people more to use against us when our stolen weapons are used in these incidents. -
While I'd like to discuss this stuff too. Actually, it's nice to come here to escape the politics right now. But the Admins don't want want it. Plenty of places to talk about it. Where do you stash a pistol in your trucks?
txab replied to Imcrazy's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
Guns are being stolen from trucks/cars left and right. Yes , they check under the seat too. Guns/firearms are at premium prices right now. Friend is a detective. Tells me these thieves are thorough and very quick. They know the hiding places. A buddy of mine cashed his $1200 Govt. check earlier this year, went to the store. He picked a spot that he knew no one would ever think to look to stash his cash...... guess what they looked. Truck was locked and he was only away from the truck a few minutes. Firearms are really hot items right now. Easy to resell due to the price of firearms is out of sight. Several are stolen from vehicles everyday in this area. LEO friend urges people to get the safe. You're not going to be able to carry 100% of the time. The list of locations that are posting signage prohibiting carry on premises seems to be growing. I've got one now and have had one for over 15 years in all my vehicles. I personally know they work. Just ask the guy that wasted time trying to open my safe, he got my Glock in his ear and then a crack on his skull after entering my truck. I lock up my truck, I'm going to securely lock up my weaponry as well. Not going to let someone else use my stuff, free -
Quite a few people posted on Facebook that they would be at a certain location, some were their homes, some were just a parking lot. They distributed candies that way and the kids got to display their costumes. One family on my street invited everyone on the street (8 blocks) to a yard party. I didn't plan on attending, but glad I didn't. Not a lot of good practices being observed at the time I passed by. Hopefully that was just a fluke and they rectified it
