  1. I took the set I had on my 2015 off with around 20000 miles on them and installed my 22's. I then made a swap with my one employee as he just bought a low mile used 2014 Silverado with the same 18" rim I had... he needs the 10 plies for where we go with work and I don't as this truck will never really leave pavement now. Noticed a big difference in noise with the BFG's over the stock SRA's that I don't remember being there when I swapped them on my truck originally. My truck is also noticeably quieter with the Toyo Proxes on it now...... so like a set of Duratrac's these obviously get louder with time. Oh well.... they do wear fairly well and winter traction with them was quite good.
  2. I have HPT and upon recommendation of how much of a buggy pos it is I haven't upgraded to the latest.. they were supposed to increase 8 speed support though which I want too. But in 2 weeks time they have revised the 3.2 release 25 times and it's still causing guys issues... so I will wait a bit longer. The current 8 speed stuff isn't hardly worth playing with. 3. I don't want to touch the struts and 2" is all I am going to drop it. This should be good then! Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  4. Okay..... if I missed it forgive me but I searched this thread and found nothing definitive. I have a 2015 4x4 with steel spindles and control arms..... have people successfully installed the Belltech 2509 spindles on those or not? Belltech says 2wd only but then other sources flip flop on it. I mean worst case scenario is I take it apart and find out lol.
  5. I can build my own..... I have 3 of them on stands in my shop right now in various states of assembly ( all 6 liters). That said..... I want this truck done and I don't want to spend time fiddling around. I missed a deal on a CT 525 circle track LS3 last year that spun 2 rod bearings and otherwise was low hour for $1000. I have been searching for a 6.2 core since whether truck or car.... and nothing worth looking at. So this just made sense... plus with 495 rated horsepower on tap it can just stay as it comes. If you get good deals on stuff it's always cheaper.... but even me assembling and having my buddy and I do the machine work ( I even own an LS torque plate lol) it's not like it's free..... and it's a lot of time I don't want to be bothered with.
  6. Pretty sure that 8500 is the US MSRP. .. up here MSRP is closer to 10000. It's not bad at all if you actually do the math to building one... Used junk pullouts are usually asking more than this lol. I obviously can afford this so I don't really find it expensive lol. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  7. Probably more than what I paid for the crate engine I bought. Headers, cam and blower will get you there... but it's about the same cost lol. I have an LQ9 here with 40000 miles I could have used and did some mods too... but I would rather have the 6.2 in the Jimmy. I don't want a blower... or turbo mess.. just good old naturally aspirated horsepower. If you convert what I paid in Canadian dollars to USD it's about $5800 for the engine. I would have a hard time building one for any significant amount less. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  8. I thought about the 525 but for a truck with an automatic the cam has too much duration and coupled with the 110 degree LSA to drive nice at low speeds. Easily need a 3200+ rpm stall for that. This hot cam is pretty mild in comparison and should have pretty good street manners... If GM's advertised power curves are at all accurate the torque should be pretty acceptable to run a 2500 stall. It's somewhat important as even though this truck is a toy I honestly have a 7.5' Western Plow I will run on it in the winter to clean my yard out. I already have 456 gears in it and through a built 4L60E it should be good. The truck is a 1990 GMC K5 Jimmy.... a rust free loaded little gem I got in the spring. The 350 in it runs nice and smooth.... but smokes like holy hell at 3000+ rpm and has a fluttery knocking sound that would make me think a broken piston. Has good oil pressure and doesn't miss... Don't care what's actually wrong with it though now.... it can go to the metal bin lol. The LS3 should be on my shop floor in about 2 weeks. For fun I found a Youtube video of a Nova running a stick behind this engine and with nothing more than headers and tuning they laid down 490 whp. Oddly enough the guy I bought this through tunes at the dealership on the side and said a customers 55 Belair they dropped one of these in with a stick and headers also made 490 whp...... pretty impressive. With bigger tires and through an auto I don't expect much more than 400 whp with mine.
  9. Ordered myself one of those... however not for anywhere near that price. Normally I would build from scratch... I do have a set of LS3 heads and the complete manifold from one of these crates I snagged with 3000 miles on them for $300 but I basically would have had to buy a new block, put together a rotating assembly... dress it... etc. Finding a used 6.2 is not easy... and then rebuild it. My time is worth a lot more than the cost of the crate plus they say 2 years warranty. I might crack it open and take some measurements before I run it. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  10. Well... I am custom tuned with HP that is a dyno tune I keep tweaking. My only complaint with my 8 speed is the shift from park delay and otherwise it's fine. I set it back to stock and took it in the other day to a dealer I have no association with. They are ordering the parts and will perform the tranny tsb... It's a powertrain complaint and no doubt they checked the trucks software... warranty still here lol. It's a lot more fun tuned than with that waste of money range thing lol. 11. The only MSD wires I had fail were the 8mm ones.. the 8.5 mm ones have always been great and I still use them. A lot of their ignition stuff is junk though. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  12. I have often wondered and never looked on the trucks without the tensioner on them.... do they still have the bolt holes for it on the bracket? If they do well I know what I would do lol. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  13. Honestly no they don't here... these new ones are pretty worthless used as an employee of mine just bought a low mile 2014 Silverado.... and its about the same dollar as a comparable Ford truck. The one that holds its value is the Yota by far. But we shall see.. I have 2 comparable trucks I am eying and am in no hurry to buy. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  14. Dumping my Tundra because I hate the thing... so a new Silverado.. or an F150... decisions decisions lol. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  15. I did.... shifted like garbage. Not enough adjustability for that stuff yet to do anything like that. That's 8 speed though... 6 should be no problem to do whatever. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  16. They don't do much. .. maybe at sea level or a downhill track I guess lol. I have raced mine and it traps around 98 mph.... corrected for my DA made that like 101. I'm tuned, intake and catback. For reference sake there were a number of 8 speed Rams that same night and they trapped closer to 90 mph... and ran low 16s lol. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  17. A good second and a half in the quarter.. or more. It's more on par with a 5.3 GM truck. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  18. It's the same reason the company decals on the side window are covered over....anonymity. Pretty simple. And no... thousands of people don't see it daily... I don't live in never ending city lol. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  19. Done! Just needs a good cleaning and to get closer to the earth lol. Just cause lol. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  20. Just makes it smear and it's actually a lot worse. .. it's no help at all. The closer to a 70 degree ambient or so the better and it comes off mostly as one piece. This isn't my first time doing this... it's just the end that justifies the means lol. This.. detail... lowering... turbo lol. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  21. Peeling all the trim crap off my 2015. I left just the bow tie on the gate and added a little 6.2 badge where it used to say LTZ I got from amazon. The door trim itself isn't bad at all to do but the Silverado letters on the doors are awful lol. The glue does not want to cooperate at all from them. I got the passenger done and have the glue to peel in the drivers side now in the morning. I refuse to use those eraser wheels.. I own one and they make a mess of a dark color trucks paint. I am getting the truck fully detailed and polished Monday. .. should look good. Added the black ck162 22's on it too... once debadged next is a lowering kit... Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  22. They won't make one for these rear ends or they would have already. You can just buy this kit here......http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/c-963800-gears-install-kits-carriers-spider-gears-general-motors-gm-9-5-12-bolt.html The aftermarket for these trucks diffs is a complete fail. At least you can convert the 9.5"..... the 9.76" junk my truck has will never have anything useful for parts made for it lol. Maybe 20 years from now.... but by then who really cares.
  23. My company ones generally... which are decalled. I should peel the 2015 Chevy's decals off... I ran it at Castrol and blacked out my rear side windows with construction paper... thought it best not to drag race with the decals in plain view lol. Headache rack and cell booster antenna and managed a 14.28 @ 98 mostly stock at our altitude... not bad. If i shifted it higher and cooled it down some more it would crack 13's. Otherwise the flavour of the day when I don't work... some newer some older. When I got home today I went on an adventure in my rust buck 86 Blazer lol.. never drove that old junk that far before. Circled from home to the southern edge of Frog Lake, to Elk point and then back up 41 to 28 and into Bonnyville. It was kind of fun... I need to drive it more lol. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  24. Lol..... Brand loyalty... so retarded. All good though. I have like 6 trucks to choose from and only one isn't a GM lol... I really don't care. My "toy" costs nothing in maintenance and sees a lot rougher life than most of these supposed real trucks would ever be able to handle. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  25. Lol... compared to what exactly? Because neither do most GM's.... your carpeted wheel well liners and paint that falls off at the thought of a rock are living proof of that. For work I take my Tundra over my Chev any day of the week... and I actually do. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
