1. They make that sound so impressive...
2. I wonder what the HD inventories are like on the Chev side? The dealer I bought my 2500 HD from in September had several 2024 GMCs on their lot, but no Chevs. They did a dealer trade to get mine.
3. My original post was during a lunch stop. When I came back out to the truck, everything worked OK. But thank you for the tip!
4. 2024 2500 HD w/ LT trim. This morning the screen has become unresponsive to my touch. Also the volume/power knob, doesn't do anything. Volume and preset controls work on the steering wheel. I had been using Google Maps w/ Android Auto. The Sirius XM songs are correctly displayed. When I touch the Android Auto (or any other 'button) on the screen, nothing happens. Have I disabled something or is it deeper than that? I will be by the dealer tomorrow.
5. I just checked the tire placard for my truck & the pressures are front = 60 psi, rear = 80 psi. So obviously the 10 psi drop isn't enough to trigger the TPMS.
6. On my 2024, I dropped the tire pressures to 50 psi all around (set to factory when towing my travel trailer). No alerts for the front tires, but both rear tires are giving low pressure warnings. I'll look tomorrow to see what the factory specs are.
7. I have the same relearning tool & it's quite easy to use.
8. @newdude Is the TPMS low pressure threshold a set amount below the spec or a percentage? A 6 psi drop may not sound like the tire is low, but maybe it is to the system?
9. Never heard anything like that. You can relearn the sensor positions (after rotating the tires) but your can't reset the pressures yourself w/o the proper equipment.
10. Pretty sure the GMC mirrors would be the same.
11. Why not drop that name completely? How about Chevrolet Electrovan? WTF is a Bright Drop? It sure doesn't describe what the vehicle is. Sounds like a Chinese outfit on Amazon selling gizmos rather than a commercial van. Who was the idiot executive that signed off on this? The exec at the start of Planes Trains and Automobiles?
12. Paint is robotically applied, so issues aren't random. Likely process 'updates' as @newdude mentioned all in the name of cost cutting. You don't have to crawl under your truck to see the 'thin coverage'. Peek down the stake pockets & you'll see more primer grey than body colour.
13. This morning. We've had 3 snow events this week, but nothing like what the Muskoka Region got last week.
14. If you had seen the soaking wet padding & rust under the vinyl of my father's 3 year old crew cab back in the 80s, you'd know why. Living in the snow belt any snow or slush on boots melts & goes somewhere. EDIT: I found this when I was cleaning the interior in the summer of 1982 after I had bought my 1st truck the previous fall. The underpadding hadn't dried out.
15. Turned a couple of plugs on my lathe this afternoon:
16. Our recent regs stated that all grades of gas are supposed to contain ethanol. But I have tested the local premium for my powersports use & it still is ethanol free. I think Canadian Tire's gas bars had been supplied by Imperial Oil (Esso, owned by Exxon) but have now rebranded some of their locations as Petrocan after tying their rewards card to the Petro Points system. Not sure if that means Petrocan (Suncor) is their supplier now. I hear you on the independents. I learned my lesson years ago w/ my '82 K15 that had the LE9 ESC motor. Filled up at the gas bar east of where I lived and then headed north on a Fri'. Truck was pinging going down a hill... There have been a couple of instances in Toronto where folks have had issues after filling up @ certain gas stations...
17. Is there anything to keep in mind to just swap the halogen bulbs to a LED replacement? As I posted elsewhere I only plan on doing the high beams on this truck. Will this affect the Intellibeam feature? Any brands to go w/ or avoid when doing this swap?
18. I wonder in the long run, if the electric parking brake may save on repair costs? It applies when I'm opening & closing the gate to our woodlot. It probably has been on & off MORE TIMES in 2 months of ownership vs the mechanical e brake in my 2017 3/4 ton that had the mechanical e brake seize up (off fortunately). I know in Ontario, most vehicles have this happen due to the salt & non-use.
19. Here in the province of Ontario in Canada I have heard of Top Tier gasoline but I've never heard of a brand touting that their gas is Top Tier. I know in the past contacting the companies asking whether or not their premium contained ethanol (for 2 stroke snowmobile us) usually resulted in a form email thanking me for contacting them... I imagine I'd get the same result emailing them asking if their gas was Top Tier.
20. We did build the QS4 trucks. Would it be safe to say that was the only truck plant building them? Until the article was posted elsewhere, I dint know that the option was available on the big SUVs. And here I thought the hybrid Tahoes were rare...
21. Thanks guys. No the truck doesn't have carpet nor a console. I wanted to be able to remove, clean & replace them easily in the winter w/o having to deal with the 'connection' on the transmission hump.
22. What is w/ the 2 holes in the driver's side liner? I have seen photos w/ the hole plugged. Looking at the backside & there appears to be a 'twist lock' arrangement. No mention of anything in the instructions. That sheet is more or less for the non-console version and how they 'connect'.
23. Not the 1st time production was simplified. Between the time I left the plant in 1988 & returned in '97, regular cab production was removed. Im not sure if we were still building extended cab RO5s (duallies) or not. Then a few years later I noticed the floor pan piercing tool being removed. It was for the manual transfer case shifter. I asked the tool processor for the area what was up with that. 'We were only building 4 or 5 a day, so those orders are going to Flint.' I also recall drill jigs near the end of the Body Shop area for 1 of the mirror options (holes were required in the doors). I dont think they were ever used. I'm not sure if there were for a West Coast style mirror as any of the 'camper/towing' mirrors mounted in the same location as the standard mirror.
24. Chatting w/ a trades guy (electrician) that is still in the plant (Oshawa) last night. He said they only occasionally work a Sat'.
