**UPDATE** I dropped 1/2 can of Seafoam in the oil, drove about 50 miles and drained the oil. Changed oil filter and put in 5W30 Mobile 1 oil and I can no longer hear the tick. As of now it is a wait and see on how things proceed. A couple of weeks have past and still all good, no tick.

Has anyone been successful in ordering a Oil Fill Cap with 5W30 on it for a 2018 5.3 Silverado? I have ordered from CarParts.com and Amazon, and both times I get a small cap that don’t fit AND marked 0W20. Both orders showed an Oil Fill Cap that was printed 5W30 when I p[laced the order.

Just because something cost more doesn't necessarily mean it's better... I've been using GM Delco filters. What do you consider and better filter?

I was quoted just short of 7k for a complete DOD delete, with engine and trans tune. I think my low end is fine, so I thinking this is the way to go. The work is a couple weeks out so when complete I will post back.

Thats my thought. I am thinking with 135K and she doesn't eat any oil, runs strong, I am looking to find someone who does the DOD delete. My son-in-law knows a few wrench turners who work on race cars and may be up for this. I just can't see spending that amount of money on a truck going on 9 years old, even though it still looks good. If I am going to have to open up the engine, I am deleting the DOD crap cam & lifters.

Just received a quote on a Jasper engine with DOD delete installed… 11K. Jasper requires a lot of external parts NEW to give that 3 year warranty. Unbelievable! My tick has turned into a knock, as if someone is tapping on the side of the block with a ball peen hammer. I can’t believe others have gone this route. If I am going to have to have a new engine, or a rebuilt engine put in this truck, it will not have the AFM parts in it. Who else have gone this route and found the cheaper way.

No, but it did quiet down alot when I changed oil... went from 0w20 to 5w30

My 2018 5.3 started making a noise that I think may be a lifter. Its at 135K and I have been running 0W20 and changing every 4k to 5k miles. I just changed oil and went to 5W30 and it did quite the lifter down a bit. We will see how things go as I am not in a big hurry to spend 5k for a rebuild.

Had the truck a few years and NO work has been done to the motor. I need to get my coolant changed and new thermostat so I may have to get this serviced at a dealer

I have a couple of screen protectors left over for the 8" screen. I plan on searching the net on any pro's or con's on that subject, since I have a week before I get my replacement.

I did a lot of internet searching and you are correct, a known issue. I am going to try and replace the digititizer on the screen since I am not upgrading any time soon.

Found some You Tube video's showing that I may need to replace my digititizer on the radio screen. At least I'm not the only one with this issue

Hey friends, my 2018 Silverado radio has started acting strange. A couple weeks ago, I had the radio continuing to raise the volume to full blast. Whatever I tried, turning the volume knob down or the steering wheel control down, as soon as I let off the volume would start climbing again. I ended up stopping, turning off the truck, opening the door and restarting and it was fine. Today as I switched from media to radio, the screen kept changing to a list of XM stations. I went back to media and then the scree would change to a list of songs on the flash drive. I am at a loss of where to start. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I also like to know if LasFit D5S LED's are the favorite... I just lost one of my cheap Amazon bulbs and need t replace it. Most likely have to replace both as the cheap Amazon from China are no longer available.

Thanks, I forgot to state I had the 6L80 in my 18. I have been hauling a dump trailer for the last 2 weeks and finished yesterday with a load to the dump of 9,240 LBs. I worked my Bowtie so time for freash fluids!

I have a question for those who installed a drain plug in transmission pan... about how much fluid drained out? I am about to do my first refill and don't want to buy more than I may need. Thanks to whom answers in advance. Whats up with the anoying pop up ads?

My 2018 is at 119K plus and I purchased a pan at a auto parts store, had a friend tig weld a drain plug in and had an independent shop drop the pan, change filter and install the new pan. Now every 20K or so, I drain out what I can and replace with fresh fluid. Cost a bit but I think this is the best thing to do so I don't pay the dealer for something they may or may not do.

Over the years I have had many trucks. At my age I am happy with the stock exhaust, but when I was younger I would just have a shop swap out the muffler for a Flowmaster single in dual out.

It looks like the previous owner had the truck serviced somewhere other than the dealer as no recent service info on my selling dealer service record.

I did ask the dealer and was emailed 1 sheet. Don't look they did much recently... they were the original selling dealer so I didn't learn much else.
