Today GM confirmed that it will partner with Navistar to offer commercial Class 4/5 commercial vehicles in the U.S. market. GM-Trucks reported this would happen back in July (citing Bloomberg as our source). Rather than just a badge-engineered partnership, GM's Chevrolet division is planning to supply drivetrains and components. Rolling Chassis will be supplied by Navistar, as will final assembly if we read the tea leaves correctly.

Ed Peper, U.S. vice president of GM Fleet and Commercial sales, commented, saying. “Bringing medium-duty conventional cab trucks back into the portfolio strengthens Chevrolet’s commitment to providing commercial customers with more choices and one-stop shopping for a versatile lineup of trucks, vans and crossovers.” Navistar reports it will add 300 new employees to be ready for the new partnership and will invest $12 million in plant upgrades.
