Has Cadillac lost its way? Today, Automotive News reports that Cadillac's Chief Marketing Officer Uwe Ellinghaus said the company's goal with its newest vehicle, the XT5 "... is to gain the attention of fashionistas, rather than cater to car buffs and auto journalists. Because in his view, younger customers are less interested in the technical details of cars, and don't read car magazines as often as they used to." We're not sure anyone reads any "magazines" anymore, but Mr. Ellinghaus at least seems to have a direction for the struggling luxury automaker to head in. Except that Cadillac is not heading that way according to Motor Trend's Jonny Lieberman, who reports that the next car-buff Cadillac will be an Escalade powered by the same engine as the Corvette. This follows the new CTS-V, which is targeted at car buffs and is powered by an engine like the one in the Corvette.

When Chevrolet spilled the beans on the 2016 Silverado yesterday at the State Fair of Texas, a curious detail stood out to us. Silverado is saying goodbye to the halogen headlamp. Even base WT models will now come standard with HID headlights.

The two coolest cars form the Detroit Auto Show may well be the Buick Avista Concept and the 2017 Lexus LC 500. If the Avista becomes a production car, it will go head to head with the new Lexus luxury performance coupe. We'd like to know which would be your choice and why.

General Motors will have to recall 2006-2007 Rainiers, Envoys, and Trailblazers because the company cannot seem to keep the window switches from getting wet and shorting out.
NHTSA says that a previous recall for the problem to apply a protective coating to the board did not work. Water can still penetrate the window seal and still short the window electronics making the window inoperable. To see if your vehicle is included click here.
