2016 Sierra 1500 6.2L lifter Failure 🤨
newdude replied to bojanglespa's topic in Engines & Drivetrain
Get a Range AFM disabler or have someone with a tuner go in and turn off AFM. Simple fix. You should be lucky it didn't lunch the camshaft.- 1 reply

Hate my huge tow mirrors, will 1500 fit….
newdude replied to EdinOhio's topic in Modifications & Accessories
1500 mirrors will NOT fit HD. They do NOT share doors which means they don't share mirrors. There is only one small mirror for HD and it has nothing but heat and power glass. If you have cameras and blind spot, your only option is the factory equipped towing mirrors. -

$5.06 at our Kroger today
-
I still kick myself for not buying your last truck when you had it for sale. I had two at the time so I passed, damit.
-
I did some driving around the woodlands area and saw some 3.31 a gallon prices. Usually my local Kroger’s is the cheapest. It hasn’t always been here lately. I usually get the benefit of my Kroger card. I don’t add that in for this purpose.

Hate my huge tow mirrors, will 1500 fit….
busse replied to EdinOhio's topic in Modifications & Accessories
So resurrecting this thread... Is it possible to get the 1500 mirrors with power folding, blind spot and 360 view that have the "square" mounting stud pattern? Did not realize there was a difference and ordered '25 1500 High Country mirrors to mount on my '25 2500HD LT and came to the unfortunate discovery that the mounting studs have different patterns. -
Seeing the same thing here, the truck stop is usually a couple cents cheaper than everywhere else but they were higher than surrounding stations this am, will see if the others go up this afternoon $3.76 truck stop, $3.74 Gulf, Sunoco still $3.69 but the tanker was there this am so that may change, Mobil $3.84

Gasbuddy lists Costco in Mansfield as the cheapest in Texas at 2.93 for regular but also more than one place around that 3.00 level in Houston. I am guessing that is probably some of the lowest fuel prices in the states ?
-
Resurrecting this thread. I was wondering if anyone has information about the differences between mounting bolt patterns for mirrors and how to understand what mirrors have what pattern.... I have a 2025 2500HD LT and want to swap my stock power folding, blind spot and 360 view mirrors with 1500 mirrors with the same features. I ordered a 2025 1500 High Country mirror but came to find that they have different mounting patterns as seen in this picture. @modernmetal did you have issues with the mounting pattern?

3.51 Kroger’s in Montgomery Tx. Surprisingly they’re not the cheapest. That is unusual.

Look up your truck's window sticker
newdude replied to PureZ71's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
If it won't pull it, then it won't pull it. You'd have to use one of those sites where you can buy a reprint. -
I never liked the choppiness of AFM (or DFM) in my '15 and '20 Silverados and IMO it's worth disabling just for the driving experience alone. I wonder what the actual failure rate of AFM/DFM is.

Broke Down on the Mountain
Gangly replied to Gangly's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I have a 2" lift, so the equivalent of the factory trail boss height, and it has been on the truck for approximately 165,000 miles. I don't believe the lift to have had any significant adverse affects on the ball joint. The socket was dry of grease and warbled out over extended use, but the ball/bolt itself wasn't broken, stripped, bent, or anything. It just pulled out when the UCA socket bore wore enough for the ball to slip out. -

6.2L V8 with Supercharger
KARNUT replied to mayfieldjeff's topic in 2021-2026 Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon & Escalade
It use to be pretty common for me to add a Super Charger. The only way I would chance it today would be dealer install with a warranty. I only have experience with Ford. They are doing well so far. -

I only bought two vehicles for personal use that weren’t leftover or CPO. A 94 impala SS and a 2001 Acura Intagra Type R. The impala I traded for a new Camaro for my son to go to college in at the dealer about 8 years later. The Acura we still have. Most of my work trucks were discounted for one reason or another. Usually a leftover. My last new vehicle a Camry was a leftover 2017. The 2018 was a redesign I got 10K off, unheard of for a Toyota. Today it’s hard for me to buy new. Five year old vehicles are known if there’s a problem is easy to look up and they are depreciated. There’s a few manufacturers that will certify vehicles with 100K miles on them. None of my vehicles owe me anything. I’m money ahead. The money Ive saved if my vehicle failed on a trip. If it was cost effective to leave it and buy another. I wouldn’t think twice. My brother bought a Shelby Super Snake P/U. His shop Forman bought a leftover reg cab work truck and had the kit installed for less than half the price. Every time I go to my old shop I laugh at him. If all that makes you feel good go for it. I have more fun finding deals. I’m never locked in waiting to get right side up. The only way I’ll go new today is a lease. Short term. No worries. And only if it’s a deal -

Many folks have reported they are much better than the Ranchos. I've read a lot of complains about the Ranchos.

all I hear is we want want basic trucks, yet everytime I see a new one on the road it is not the basic truck......its a mid trim and up........with discounts and negotiation you can get one in high 30s low 40s I paid 34-36k for my 2005 Toyota tundra in 2006......these higher trims didn't even exist, they wouldn't build them if we didn't want them........you can most certainly buy a very affordable brand new P/U people just don't REALLY want them........what they really want is the Trail Boss/LTZs to be in high 30s-40s and that's never gonna happen......probably not here so much but in general most suck at negotiating as well so there's that watch what they do not what they say, lol -

wonder if the WT and custom still get old interiors? actually prefer my 24 to these, though the exterior looks really good......I have a HD as well steering wheel looks cheap and screens are too much....I like a good screen but passenger one and center one is a bit much maybe look different in person........really dont like that steering wheel though
