  2. Well that book won't sell many copies. Taking ones right foot off the loud pedal never gets applause. Funny really, It isn't that people don't know what to do...they just don't want to do it. But they will complain about it. About bad craftsmanship, about the cost of fuel, about the cost of part and repairs and mainly they complain that the solution while still possible isn't one they are willing to do. I observe this daily. 'Gas cost to much!", they wail, while they mat it passing at 80+ mpg and scoot down the road like gas cost a dime a gallon. Then complain about the few that will lift and save both fuel and iron like they are owed and own the road. Good thing they haven't an ounce of influence on my equipment. The rest I just laugh at. Stupid is as stupid does, right Forest?
  3. Today I filled up with 4.899 gallons of fuel at a cost of $4.899 a gallon. $24 bucks. 290 miles. 59.2 mpg. After my 4% COSTCO discount just under eight cents a mile.

  5. Howdy folks, Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets). On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element. No problem… or so I thought. I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground. Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though. Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power. Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons. Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped. Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
  6. I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.
  7. I’m praying that someone sees this and can help me out… pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain, and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets). On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash. No problem… or so I thought. Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped. Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
  8. Checked the pads today and there's plenty of meat on them. If the message keeps coming up, I'll just answer YES that the pads were replaced and wait for the squeal.
  9. Welcome to the Forum! Always post the code definitions along with the codes. there are over 18000 possible codes, no one remembers them all and most will skip over your post rather than look them up
  10. Not in my 2021. It's either on or off. There is no selecting front or rear. My scanner says something like implausible value for the rear monitor. I just disabled monitoring and keep driving it. There's physical metal squealer tabs on the pads for a reason. That's how people always knew when to change the brake pads or ignore them until the vehicle wouldn't stop anymore!

  12. Are those part numbers for a stock height truck? Thanks for posting the video.
  13. I have pictures of the 66, the starfire maybe the 72. I can’t say too much. We have lots of pictures of the first born. Not many of the second. Lots of the third my name sake. Mainly because of sports.
  14. Thank you newdude. The truck is getting a new 9.5' Fisher V plow installed by the local Fisher dealer next week. The truck has keyed ignition. I believe I have located the correct upfitter switch kit (85866211). As for the dual battery upgrade I am trying to figure if I should go with OEM or an aftermarket isolation system. I can't seem to find anyone who has added an O system to find out exactly what part numbers I need and if it is genuinely plug and play or if wiring changes are needed and if so what.
  15. Looking for some advice. I have these 3 evap codes p0449, p0446, p0451 and cant seem to find the source. Ive replaced the vent solenoid and the purge solenoid nether changed any codes. Truck is a 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 5.3 V8
  16. Don`t have any pics of my `77 Cutlass Supreme that I sold to get my 2000 Silverado 1500. Was a nice car. Maybe because it was mine.
  17. I had a few olds. My first was a 61 super 88 convertible. A 66 442. A 72 cutlass that was modified with a 455, 400, 373. A 1980 Holiday 88. And 1980 cutlass with a 400, 700r4 373. The 72 was done by my brother while his wife was away for a week visiting her parents. She was pissed. She went out and bought another car. I bought it from him. The 80 could have been an 84 I can’t remember for sure. My favorite was the 66. A sleeper. I almost forgot my wife had a starfire. A real piece. Of course my wife loved the thing.
  18. Any word yet on whether or not DFM will be built into these two new engines (5.7, 6.6)?
  19. We lived happier, if a bit more risky at times, lives?
  20. Thanks, it’s a 442 tribute. Not something I would have done personally but it was an older resto and has all the correct bits already. Including a correct 400 olds motor sitting in the garage that I gotta tend to eventually. 5.3 and Muncie is actually a delightful little combo though, so I’m in no hurry. Aside from the fact that I also have a 1991 Infiniti M30 rag top that could use an LS swap too. Might have to do some horse trading between the cars some day. Funny enough there’s a Lil Red Express at the show today. I’ve seen quite a few of them over the years. Or just the same one goes to all the shows!
  21. A little girl said her prayers every night before bed and she asked G d to watch after each person she loved. One night she forgot to pray for her babysitter and her babysitter died. A few days later she forgot to pray for someone else and they died. The next night she forgot to pray for her dad. The next morning her dad was terrified. A bus almost crashed into him. He almost fell off a fifty foot ladder and almost wrecked on the way home. When he arrived home, he said I had a terrible day. His wife replied, “You think you had a bad day? My aerobics teacher died during class.
  22. Nice! I had one here, once. The car dealer I used to haul for stopped by with it. That was over 10 years ago now. Those are SUPER rare these days, especially up here! Never even see them at car shows anymore. https://postimg.cc/0rvcNZ1W
  23. I remember watching one of the auctions on TV. It just happened that they had two little red express trucks. My brother bought one new in 1979, still has it. So I hung on to watch them cross. The retro redone example brought more bids and went for more money than the original one did. My brother has redone his 3 times and raced it. He’s now in the process of making more tame for cruising.
  24. I always upgraded the suspension and steering components - bushings and ball joints, and had older cars that I could out-corner ANY modern car with. I used to be able to take my '78 Cutlass on off-ramps at stupid speeds and make the sharp MA corners without even squealing the tires. So much fun. My '72 El Camino must've had work done by the previous owner, since that thing seemed to handle even better than the '78. I think the suspension & steering on the '72 was much more advanced than the '64, so that probably just made a good system even better. I'm the same way with vehicles. I hate having to worry about the paint on my '93 W250 Cummins. I'm not used to that, lol. https://postimg.cc/mzKr55sY
  25. BEAUTIFUL!! That a Cutlass F85? Or 442? My side-ID skills are lacking thanks to failing memory, lol. Love that color & year, too! Yeah I was never big on entering my own stuff, but I always liked seeing what everyone had, the rare models, and what's been modified. That was always fun. These days I have barely enough time to do what needs to be done at home. Oddly enough, here in MA there are more car shows than ever in history! You'd think up here it would be dead, but it's bigger than EVER! Took the 940 for its maiden voyage with the carburetor. At first I couldn't get out of the yard! This originally had the "Bosch" system (our other 940 has Regina - single fuel pump in fuel tank, and space-age-looking ignition coil on driver's fender) - that has dual fuel pumps. One in the tank, and one under the center left of the vehicle. I had unplugged the external one thinking I wouldn't need it with the carburetor ... but the way I have the pressure regulator hooked up, 90% of the fuel volume is going back to the fuel tank, so cranked all the way down, the regulator is only supplying a hair above 3.5 PSI to the carb. Turns out the in-tank pump (15 PSI alone, instead of 45) couldn't handle the load. Plugged it back in and went for a rip. Ran great! Throttle response is always amazing with carburetors. ZERO delay that no FI system can reproduce. Also fires up in half the crank rotations as before. Low end power was DRAMATICALLY improved. There was an ongoing lean issue with the FI that I got tired of figuring out, so this is a MASSIVE improvement! Above 50 MPH on hills it feels SUPER weak, though. This is more than likely due to the timing not being advanced enough by the computer, since it believes there are multiple failures. I can live with that through the winter. Will keep me from passing slowpokes where I shouldn't and getting speeding tickets at least.
  26. I like driver quality. I bought a 64 elcamino a few years ago. All original as it turned out. I didn’t know at the time. I made a low ball offer and got it. Black on black factory air 4 speed. It drove like a school bus. It had been awhile I had forgotten just how bad the old cars drove. So I planned on making it more of a retro ride. I would drive it to work sometimes. My brother liked to build cars, I liked to drive them race them. So he noticed the canister oil filter and open blow by tube. He checked the numbers. All original. 327, 250 hp close 4 speed, posi rear end. I put it on eBay made a tidy profit. I didn’t want the responsibility or headache. My wife already had a pristine collector vehicle. It lives in the climate controlled garage. I really don’t care what it is. I like to feel the sensation of speed. Let someone else have the responsibility. I’m too OCD. It used to drive me crazy. I can appreciate people who like to take the responsibility. I’m glad they do. I’ll look and remember back to those days. I’ll jump in the wife’s Genesis to get gas for her. Get my sensation of speed and be happy for awhile.
