  1. I had the right post cat go out, and currently have the left pre cat throwing a "heater" code. The right one has been fine since I replaced it, just need to order and do the left. Does it only throw the code when it's a cold start?
  2. The rear fenders on any vehicle are a common place for rust. The spots aren't under the paint, they are through the sheet metal. You can access the inside of the fender pretty easily from in between the front of the rear panel and bed. Keeping the area inside clean will help but it's going to rust eventually no matter what you do.
  3. That's pricey... But I know my Z71 shocks were done around 100k... And they're a lot simpler.
  4. The oil analysis is a guarantee in itself, it makes it easy to keep track of what exactly is going on in the engine. My motor doesn't even use a quart of oil on a 10,000 mile interval, and I run a higher capacity filter, so it's not really all that extreme for synthetic oil. I have plenty of additive left and the oil still even looks clean.
  5. If you want to know for sure, for the unique engine in your vehicle, the best way is an oil analysis. You take a sample and send it to a lab that runs tests, then returns all the info about the oil to you. There are a lot of different things you can see in a report, from water/fuel/insolubles in the oil, to flash point and additive content. I send a sample each oil change to Blackstone Labs, and they have recommended a 10,000 mile oil change interval on my 5.3. I was changing my oil every 5,000 miles before, so even with the cost of the analysis I come out ahead since I end up doing half the maintenance of before, and I have the added benefit of keeping an eye on wear metals in my oil.
  6. About what I would say about them on my 2006, glad you like them. Rear end seems a lot more stable to me when towing.
  7. That's interesting, that's upside down from how they mount on my 2006. How's the ride?
  8. Our work truck is used in the pasture every day over the winter, and sees gravel/mud/fields every day of the summer. But it's kept clean. I like to keep any equipment I'm running as clean as possible too. My 2006 is the same way. It's not just a pickup, it's my partner and the better I treat it the better it'll treat me.
  9. Mild coke addiction might be cheaper I'm constantly looking at things I want; more realistically more lights and on board air, less realistically supercharger. Have 2 other vehicles that want upgrades too, so it's tough and I rarely pull the trigger between trying to plan between the 3.
  10. I found this picture. This is the ps of the motor. One can for the hose that goes to the TB and another can for the long hose on the ds.
  11. Not sure. There should be 2 lines. One from ds rear to the top of the intake. Another from ls front to front of the intake.
  12. Sweet! Not sure how you would put a catch can on these pickups... My motor has 2 breathers. The intake itself seemed grody but the valves looked new.
  13. I lock it at 72 regardless of the speed limit. If you go 85 on i70 you'll still be slower than some traffic anyway. I try to spend as little time on the interstate as possible and drive empty 2 lanes whenever I can.
  14. I see one around town occasionally, it's a gorgeous color.
  15. A few pictures from the summer so far My 20 foot jon boat on the trailer, with a thoroughly dirty pickup
  16. New wipers coming soon... Got almost 4 years out of the Bosch Icons

  17. Thanks! I will add: The ATP tires seem to be holding up well at 26,000 miles BUT they are starting to cup. I am not pleased because they have been rotated plenty and the front end is perfectly aligned. I'm not sure what is causing it.
  18. Drove out to the lake, they're letting a ton of water out.
  19. Cleaned up the pickup finally, used rubbing compound on the scratches some dog left on the pickup. Polished and sealed.
  20. This weekend I took out some scratches with rubbing compound, polished and sealed. Not a bad shine for a 10 year old pickup!
  21. I only run 91 and diesel is almost always cheaper. And you get a lot more bang for your buck anyhow.
  22. I re redid my knock sensors, drove an hour and a half and the light stayed off. Don't buy Borg Warner knock sensors
  23. My 2006 takes auto trak. Today I pulled apart the weatherpak connector for my knock sensors and flipped the wires. I had been showing a 332, and sure enough the code switched to 327. Moral of the story: don't buy parts from Oriellys. Apparently they got me a bad knock sensor.
