  1. Not to mention if the receiver separates from tow vehicle, you probably have worse things to worry about at that point in time... I've only heard of it twice, once was a uhaul-installed hitch with brass bolts (to prevent corrosion of course), and the other was a 2nd gen Dodge that had a metal fatigue failure from being overloaded all its life (rip parts of the frame off too). In all my years following the diesel forums, those are the only two hitch-related failures I can remember. I worry more about someone tampering with my setup...stopped at a rest area, some teenage kids were hanging behind a SUV when I pulled in. I ALWAYS do a walk around before I start back down the road...the jerks had pulled the spring clip from the hitch pin so that it would fall out later down the road. 2. Today I popped the dent out of my hood from the duck that decided to commit suicide. It was such a nice day to...happy birthday... Might as well get all the dings and dents fixed...it's only money. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  3. This is my utility trailer, not my camper; but it will give you the idea...and the 2.5" receiver on my truck, which those hooks fit perfectly. I've installed chain hooks on every trailer I own because they are easier to use and work better. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  4. I replaced the factory s-hook with a grade 70 chain hook with safety catch that fit my receiver. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  5. On the 2.5" receiver, mine would pass but not enough to loop back and leave slack for turning. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  6. I've had mixed results with balance powder and balance beads...works sometime and not others. The one set of Michelin AT/S I had on a 2500 Cummins had 120k miles on them when I traded, and still had 1/3 the tread remaining. I attribute that to the balance beads...that was also the nicest riding truck, not a shimmy, shake, or vibration! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  7. FYI, those hooks are too small as well...my RV came with those, and I had to swap out with regular chain hooks because they wouldn't fit the receiver holes. I think those s-hook are meant to pass through the holes in the receiver and then hook back onto the chain, but mine didn't have enough chain to do that either. 8. Those links are not rated for shock loading...which is what they will be subjected to if actually used... Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
  9. Those quick links aren't rated strong enough for my liking, the only way I would do that loop of chain would be to use a true clevis. I did what the others stated, changed the hooks out for ones that fit right... Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
  10. I really have no idea, on a c-clip axle that would mean the clip has too much play, which usually happens with lots of miles? It's been almost 20 years since I was elbow deep in a rear differential, but want to remember you can shim either under the clip or under the side gear to take up some of that play? Thinking open carrier: the cross pin limits inward movement, the clip outward movement? You would shim under the side gear/clip until you could just get the cross pin installed. This was the method to tighten up a Lock-Right locker... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  11. The local shop told me that too much axle end play can cause the ABS light to pop on corners...the air gap between the sensor and tone ring opens up during a turn. Something to consider. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  12. I've had luck using tubing attached to a shop vac to suck up debris from the heater box...large stuff will get sucked against the end and you pull those out like a magnet, small stuff like needles will pass through a 1/2 pieces of tubing. I had to do this with a Subaru that had been parked under a pine tree its entire life. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  13. I have a 3.3 XDS in 45, it makes a good carry piece. I was all about a manual safety with my first CCW, but after carrying a while; I would never have a CCW with a manual safety again. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  14. Go to Advance Auto or Autozone and have them scan the codes...mine just did this and it was one of the wheel sensors. Advance had a scanner that could tell you which sensor, mine turned out to be the right rear. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  15. I didn't read anything on the net, I helped pull the transfercases out of those Suburbans...I towed the one to the shop that grenaded. Unlike "up north" (where I would think they would know how to drive in snow), we have a lot of bare pavement between storm events...that's what killed those transfercases. 16. Have you ever experienced a truck that was in 4wd most of its life? I have, when the chain stretches to the point it rattles in the case, jumps teeth of the gears, or worse pukes out through the side of the case...that's wear. The owner's wife of the dealer I worked at way back when ran a demo Suburban in 4wd from the time the first snow hit until about June...she destroyed more than one transfercase in demo vehicles because of that and she got a new demo Suburban every year for winter driving... 17. For your revolvers, check out Simply Rugged. SimplyRugged dot com. I have their pancake holster and the ISB belt straps, and I conceal a 4" Taurus 44C when camping easy enough. I got that particular holster because it also works with their chesty puller setup which places the holster in the center of your chest, which I use when hunting. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
  18. 5/8"? Mine was 3/8"... Guess it depends on the model now? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  19. That's because Ford has some way to make those great big windshields distortion free. They were doing this back in 1991 for the Pontiac Transport vans...Gm was buying windshields for that one from Ford. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  20. Your 2.4l takes 0w20? We just bought a 2017 Equinox with the 2.4l and it's spec'd for 5w30? We got the full set of Husky liners too, they fit good but the wife complained they are slippery...get them dirty I told her... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  21. It's very much going to depend on the dealer. Should it affect warranty? No. Will the dealer use it for an excuse to not honor warranty work? Maybe. The MM Act doesn't cover catch cans unfortunately...only like parts for like parts. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  22. I've used air shocks before, just don't get crazy with weight on them as the next weak link is the shock mount. Not that I experienced it with a GM, but ripped the mounts off a Ford Ranger and a Dodge 150... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  23. I've used redhead boxes before, the 2500 Dodge boxes were factory junk. Redhead makes a good product. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
  24. The oem isn't pressured up if it's gas filled... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  25. I heard that before about gas filled stabilizer shocks doing that. I've often wondered if the gas charged shocks were meant to be used in pairs to counteract each other? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
