Different style and design... I had a capless full fill on the one vehicle I took to Idaho to bomb around on BLM land for work (it was a rental Toyota Rav4 if I remember correctly). Had inches of mud on the sides and underneath, ran through flooded roads; all in a place supposedly dry 99% of the time. The only thing that was clean was the interior and the inside of the fuel door and the fuel fill. There was nothing in that design that indicated it would have issues (I was skeptical of the capless design myself). Even spraying it down at a car wash would leave no visible water inside that fuel door. Typically the more pressure a hose will handle, the thicker it's sidewall will be and more resistant to collapse from vacuum. They made vacuum gauges for mileage coaches at one point...the higher the vacuum, the better the mileage. They were actually kind of neat...more of a novalty, but neat to watch. When they screw up your order, tell you that YOU pay to ship the wrong stuff back to them before they ship the correct stuff...the best was I was charged taxes and shipping for one state and it shipped from my home state! Considering the dealers have a network and what one knows they can all know, saying one has better information these days than another is really unfounded...especially with Internet and instant file sharing. You're essentially saying that GM doesn't have qualified individuals working at their dealerships... I also find it funny that the "GM reps" on this forum will respond to one person having some one-off weird issue, but will chose to ignore threads like this one and the vibration issues on the 1500s with hundreds and thousands of complaints, is also kind of lame. As I indicated earlier, there is a TSB out for at least my 2012 for tcase noise...it sounds like a pinion bearing (coast sounds different from load). Under load you would think either the front end or the transfercase had a bearing about to implode. I don't use 4wd often, but when I do its for miles and miles of snow covered roads (which makes this noise particularly annoying) or towing/hauling heavy offroad (think cutting firewood). I have nearly 100k on my 2012 and have had it in three times for the noise...the first was the TSB acknowledging the noise, the next was a TSB for a fix, and the last was a TSB stating the fix didn't work and there was no other plans to address the issue. You can probably look those up, and see if they cover your truck. I gave up after try number three, the fluid in the front differential and the transfercase look fine, I get very little wear metal on the magnets, and the noise hasn't gotten worse in that time. Personally, I think it's a multitude of things being amplified by the frame...the 2500s have frame beaming as a result of the stiff frame and poor tires. Why couldn't the 1500s also have frame beaming as a result of axles/tires/driveshaft/differential/etc? That's part of troubleshooting, keep trying things until you find what works... Do you have the manual shift tcase or electric? I know they have a TSB on mine for 4wd noise that has no resolution. At one point it was a bushing in the shift mechanism, but they since retracted that. I had mine in twice for it, and they finally told me not to worry about it...bought the truck new in 2012, sit with 95k on the clock. Supposedly no damage or wear from the noise, although it sounds like a bearing in the front axle or the 4wd portion of the transfercase is about to blow apart.
