  1. GM and Ford are now working together to develop a 10 speed transmission. The 8 speed, as I understand it, is a GM-only product on the GM vehicles. Ford might have an 8 speed as well but this isn't the transmission partnership that's been reported in the news.
  2. Yeah only the Silverado/Sierra's with the 6.2L V8 and the GMC Yukon Denali are getting the 8 speed. The rest will still get the 6 speed.
  3. That's an excellent observation. I can't believe I didn't think of that. That sounds EXACTLY like something GM would do too! (Oil consumption on the GMT900's anyone?). I might be dumping this truck sooner than I think..... EDIT: Actually wait the more I think about it, the 8 speed is only on the 6.2's. This theory would make better sense if the 8 speed was going into all of the trucks.
  4. What do you mean the rear end felt like it was "walking." I get this weird sensation every now and then in the back end and the only way I can describe it is that it feels like the back end moves in a way as if the rear wheels are turning/steering like the front end....not battling the front end but rather complementing it as some luxury vehicles with rear wheel steering do. I dunno it's a weird feeling and doesn't happen often.
  5. You're telling us GM confirmed to you that the truck will eventually fail from the vibration and cause an accident? EDIT: Never mind I misread your post. You stated that was your opinion. Sorry for the confusion.
  6. Cool thanks for the information. I'm still trying to decide if I want to pull the trigger on the catch can or not. My only worry is whether I'll void the warranty or not, or if something goes wrong with the engine whether the dealer will try to blame the catch can or not. Decisions decisions........
  7. Wait so when you installed the oil catch can, you noticed the clean side inlets were 100% dry with no evidence of oil/crud? Meaning the clean side separator is not that critical to install then?
  8. Yep. Ironically that's why I bought a 2014 Silverado thinking with a new vehicle, I'd spend less time worrying about repairs and taking it to the dealer so I can focus on other areas of my life. Boy was I wrong.....
  9. Yeah I plan to try the hose clamp method if I can ever find a free weekend in 2014 to do it. Between work and personal life I never have time to spend working on the truck like I want to. I also want to bolt open the stupid flapper valve in the exhaust.
  10. If you read back, I had the same experience. The service rep said they found nothing wrong with my seat, but somehow through magic I guess it was solid as a rock for about 2 or 3 weeks after I picked it up from the dealer. Now the movement is back and feels like it's getting worse. I'm just going to keep driving it until the damn seat breaks off of its frame. Then I can take it in and they can't tell me again that they found nothing wrong with it.
  11. Black ones should be Tenneco. They're designed for a smoother ride versus the Rancho shocks on the Z71's. I still think Bilsteins would improve your ride tremendously though even though they're stiffer. Not yet. Don't know what's taking them so long.......
  12. After having Tenneco, Rancho, and Bilstein shocks on these trucks, my opinion is that the Rancho's are the "bounciest" or the ones that give you the most "trampoline" feel, and the Bilstiens were by far the greatest. They're stiff to the point of not feeling like a trampoline, but not so stiff that the ride quality suffers. They're just an all around great shock for these trucks both on and off road, hauling/towing or regular driving. I plan to get some as soon as they become available.
  13. I noticed that same slit in the rubber seal on my truck XM antenna seal this weekend when I was washing it. I don't have water leaking in the cabin though (*KNOCK ON WOOD!). But yeah I'm not sure what's up with that gap in the seal. Seems like it's no longer watertight.
  14. I got news for you, service managers don't know dick either. The only people that know anything are the guys getting their hands dirty working on these trucks. I'd love to bypass all service reps and service managers and talk to the mechanics directly.
  15. If I were you man I would really push for them to look at your rear end. It's not the shocks......they're only wasting your time looking at those. The function of a shock is to dampen bouncing of the vehicle when it hits bumps or potholes and things like that. They basically settle the "recoil" the vehicle experiences after hitting bumps and things like that. If you are driving on a smooth road and the truck vibrates, it's not your shocks because your shocks aren't hardly doing anything on a flat smooth road, they're just sitting there waiting for the next bump in the road. But a steady vibration at high speeds on smooth road.....that's driveline related. Or at least NOT shock related anyway.
  16. Why not check now? I would think you would want to check right around now to see what happens within the first 500 miles. If nothing is there then you know you can go a lot longer before the next check. But how do you know it's not 75% full now?
  17. I personally haven't, but a few people in this thread have had engineers drive their trucks. The engineers offered more possible solutions to try but overall, the trend remains the same with this problem: Some people get it fixed, some don't, and there still seems to be no rhyme or rhythm as to why that is. The biggest issue is that the cause of the vibration is not consistent. For some guys new tires fixed the issue, for some getting new rear ends or drive shafts helped, but the solution isn't consistent because the source of the vibration is not consistent. Compounding the problem is the fact that most trucks on the road do not vibrate at all which eliminates the source of the problem being a design issue but rather an issue of quality control either with assembly of the trucks or manufacturing of the parts before assembly.
  18. Yeah I don't see the post from Chevy Trucks either......
  19. Thanks. I searched "GM Trucks" as I thought that's what I had read it was called. I found it now and "liked" the page.
  20. Can you guys please post a link to this facebook page? I tried searching but I don't think I found the right one.....
  21. GM doesn't care if it's not a safety issue. Remember the oil consumption problem on the previous trucks? GM's first step to address the problem was to revise the amount of acceptable oil loss from something like 1 quart every 3,000 miles to 2 quarts in 2,000 miles or something to that effect. Does that sound like the move of a company that cares about their customers' satisfaction with a product? From there they required dealers to perform a long drawn out documentation process of oil loss to see how it relates to their revised consumption standards. Then they tried a baffle added to the engine which didn't work for everyone, and then they moved on to fixing or replacing engines for those that lasted 6 months through this process and didn't give up. Again does that sound like a company that cares about their customers' satisfaction? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I agree the ice in that one video was making the drink way more still than it would have been if it was 100% liquid within the bottle. I don't care if you drive the most luxurious car on the road, a water bottle in a cup holder will show ripples from shakes and vibrations natural to all vehicles when they drive down the road.
  23. I wouldn't care as much if they made an easier way to take the air dam off. As it stands now though it's a pain in the ass and there's a ton of hardware to remove. If there was some way to make a quick release mechanism for it, I'd love that because then I can leave it on for maximum MPG's for daily driving and I can take it off when I go off-roading. But it's such a pain to remove and put back that you either live with it or remove it completely. Even the owner's manual states to remove it for off-roading but they don't give us an easy way to do it.
  24. Yeah we almost need to meet up and drive each others' trucks to feel the differences, then when we find solutions we can better explain what to do for people. I'd love for someone who fixed their vibration with tires to drive my truck and tell me if what they feel is the same as on their truck before the new tires.
  25. Yeah I'll keep an eye on it and see what other clues I can come up with. Unfortunately I don't have the money to drop on tires right now so I'll probably just ride these out for a while. I agree after watching some of the videos people are posting I should count my blessings because it seems it could be way worse. Either way none of us should have to put up with any of this regardless of severity or the cause.
