  1. I'd suggest running a good diesel additive at every tank. Low sulfur diesel means lower lubricity for the fuel system. No need to waste the money using the AC/Delco stuff, there are good products out there, I ran Optilube in my duramax's and Hot Shots Secret is also a favorite in the diesel field.
  2. I would have to say yes it is normal. I've experienced that too but across the board on various vehicles and trucks including my previous already mentioned units.
  3. Not the newer L5P but my 2018 never idled rough when in a regen. When it is in a regen they will idle about 200 RPMs higher so it is usually smooth. Same thing with my former LML and the 2 LMMs I had.
  4. while people debate oil filters here on forums, others out there are putting 300,000-400,000 miles+ on their engines without oil/oil filter related failures using whatever the dealer or quick lube places are putting on during oil changes.
  5. No shortage. Plenty in production. That store likely didn't order things correctly or someone came and purchased them all for their commercial fleet. Seen it happen a few times at my Wal-Mart. They were generally back in stock within a few days or a week.
  6. is it shifting up or down when doing it?
  7. I know that the transfer case push button switch was a common failure point on the GMT-800s, and were talked about and fussed about all the time on here way back in the day, hell I had to replace the switch in my 99 & 05 1500s. I just replaced the switch on my 04 2500 but am still getting the message to service 4WD. The switch lights up but will not go into 4WD. What were the other common failure points to be looking at? The fluid is fine as it was recently changed. Has 168,000 miles on it now. Am I looking at needing to replace the TC? Thanks
  8. The GMT-900s are more prone to this. Sad to say. See it all over the place here. Rear wheel wells. The GMT-800s were not as bad.
  9. I'd like to see better reliability. The reliability ratings of most of the GM products have dropped significantly over the past 4-5 years. Other manufacturers have suffered too but GM is really taking a beating here.
  10. got around to driving one. Not impressed at all. Too small inside. Not a practical truck. Nothing practical about it except the engine was quite peppy for a little 6.
  11. So looking at the 2019 reviews and reliability ratings from CR: They mention the 2.0 Turbo has good acceleration Good braking Secure handling Gets bad marks for cabin noise, stiff ride, agility, push button gear selector setup, visibility, and interior qualty. poor owner satisfaction (no surprise there) 64/100 reliability rating. Surprisingly, it ranks just 3 notches below the Honda CR-V, (expected it to be worse) but several notches above the Toyota RAV-4. seems to do better reliability wise vs Hyundai, Kia, Subaru, VW, Mazda, Nissan, Ford, and Jeep models.
  12. Go visit the Ram and F-150 forums and you'll see similar posts. Toyotas even have some problems too, but I don't think quite as bad
  13. What is the latest and greatest t-fluid? These transmissions are very sensitive to what type of fluid you use.
  14. Ariens owns Gravely and they make their own mowers. Pretty good ones too. The engines are made by other manufacturers.
  15. This. And it's almost across the board with all manufacturers.
  16. wow this brings back memories of other posts on here in years gone by of rear windows going kablooey.
  17. Thank you. Next question- How hard is it to replace the knock sensors on the 6.0?
  18. Would a dual exhaust setup for the 6.0 make any difference performance wise, or am I best with a stock setup? Sound wise, I could care less as I am already half deaf and wouldn't hear the damn thing with my hearing aids out. Thanks
  19. Welcome to the norm in the automotive industry now. Doesn't matter how much you pay for a vehicle anymore.
  20. I'd still install a kill switch. A faraday box or bag isn't going to be practical to be with you everywhere you go.
  21. Hi Folks- I've been away for a number of years, over on a popular duramax forum, primarily. However- I am getting ready to sell my 2018 Silverado 2500HD Duramax and just picked me up a 2004 Silverado 2500 crew cab with the 6.0L with 167,000 miles. My first 3/4 ton with a gas engine. And first truck with the 6.0. I've had 4 Duramax's and 3 1500 5.3L trucks in the past, so I seem to go back and forth, however - I'm not too thrilled with where the Diesel industry has been forced to go, mostly because of the extra emissions crap that has to be on modern diesels now a days, which greatly reduces the reliability. My 2018 is currently in the body shop having some scrape damage repaired, after an encounter with a parking lot bollard. Uggh. Then she will be up for sale. Given that I'll be using a good chunk of the money I get from my 2018 Dmax to pay for taxes owed for 2013, I'll likely be in this truck for at least 2 years minimum, but we'll see. The 6.0L should be able to tow what I need for now. Looking forward to Getting my hands dirty on doing some needed maintenance on the truck. Planning on doing the plugs, wires, front and rear diff, and transfer case oil myself, will take it in to my trusted independent repair facility to have the tranny, coolant, brake, (along with new brakes) and power steering fluids done. Already ordered a new set of aftermarket tail lights for it, and will be doing the same for the headlights soon. The truck has an Edge tune on it, however - the former owner can't track down the tuner thing and will keep looking for it. He barely put a few thousand miles on it a year for the past few years. Only used it primarily when he went hunting. I'm planning on having the old tuning stuff removed, and likely going with Black Bear. That was the favorite on this forum for many years. The truck also has a K&N setup that I plan on removing and maybe going back with the stock setup, or something else. Still trying to decide on that. Also going to have the dual exhaust pipes out the back removed as the pipes are getting rusty and loose, and maybe go with a dual side angled exhaust, or back to a single angled exhaust. I am not a fan of the dual exhaust setups that come out straight out the back under the bumper. Will also eventually have the aftermarket radio and security system removed and replaced with something more modern, including a back-up camera. Once you've had one, it's hard to go without one. That's it for now. Will post up some photos here shortly. Cheers
  22. Well, not really. I think..
  23. Communicating your driving information to OnStar.
  24. Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure then that it will be the .30 caliber. I'll double check when I pick the gun up tomorrow. the serial number indicates it is a 1st year production model (ser 7079) and they made 14,500 of them in 1894.
  25. Some vehicles are more prone to sludge than others. Regardless of what oil you use. There were a number of Toyota engines in the Camry and Corolla in the 2000-2010 range that had this issue, small oil passages were the cause from what I recall.
